Chapter 8 Meeting Alecto

 

Alecto felt a slight nudging to her mental barriers and woke up enough to answer.

{Kagome you needed something?} She mumbles sleepily

(You're coming back with me right?)

{Yes, when will you be ready?}

(In a couple of hours.)

{Alright, I'll be ready and at your house.}

(See ya then.)

{Yep.}

Alecto rolled over and felt something tighten around her waist keeping her from moving to far, she opened her eyes and looked down at to see two arms wrapped around her waist - the hands resting on her stomach. She blinked a few times before turning her head to see who was behind her, when she saw War she smiled and relaxed back against him.

“You know, I have to get up soon. I promised Kagome that I would return with her and see if I could help with the bat she is caring for.”

“Hm but you don't have to get up yet.” War mumbles.

Alecto snuggles back against him “I suppose not, I have a few hours before we are leaving.”

“Good, then I get to spend a little more time with you before you leave.”

“Mmm guess so.” Alecto shifted in his hold so that she was facing him “Are you ok with me leaving? I'm not sure when we'll be back.”

“Whether I am or not I know you'll go any way, but if something happens I will come and take care of it.”

Alecto smiled and snuggled closer to him “Good to know love.”

War tightened his hold slightly before kissing the top of her head “Get a few more hours of sleep, you might need it to heal Kagome's newest friend.”

Alecto nodded slightly and soon slipped back into sleep, War lay awake for a little while just holding her and hoping that nothing would happen to her while she was gone. He smiled as he felt the tip of her tail twitching against his leg and closed his eyes to take a short nap. When Alecto next awoke she knew that she actually had to get up even though she would rather stay where she was. She rolled slightly and realized that if she wanted to get out of bed that she would have to wake War up. An idea came to mind and she slowly slid her tail up and under the hem of his shirt, gently brushing it against his stomach before moving it up his chest to gently bush the fur of her tail there. A soft growl like purr escaped from War and his arms tightened slightly around her. Alecto giggled quietly before sliding her tail back down to his stomach and brushing it lightly over it, and then she dipped the tip of her tail into his bellybutton. War's eyes shot open and he looked down at the small female nestled close to him, she was giggling and her tail - which she had removed from under his shirt - was swishing excitedly. After her giggles subsided she looked at him innocently and spoke “I needed to wake you up, I have to go soon.”

He raised an eyebrow “And you couldn't have thought of another way?”

“Well I could have, but then I might have been delayed in meeting up with Kagome.”

War just stared at her as she stood up and jumped off the bed, his hold having loosened from her method of waking him. Alecto walked over to the closet and grabbed a few things, quickly storing them in a black messenger bag that had a red ankh on the front of it. She turned to look at War who had sat up in the bed, “I'm going to take a quick shower. Are you and Kane going to come with to Kagome's shrine?”

Kane - who had just padded back into the room - and War nodded. War watched as she left the room before standing and walking over to her closet, after a few minutes of searching he pulled out some of his clothes and put them on. He had found a pair of black jeans and a red tank top. He sat back down on the edge of the bed to wait for Alecto, Kane had wondered out of the bedroom to find some food. Alecto returned to the room shortly and raised an eyebrow at the look on War's face; she thought that he looked like he was pouting. Alecto walks over and sits down on the bed neck to War and lifts one hand to rest against his cheek. War turns his face to look at her and nuzzles against her hand.

“What's wrong War?”

“What if something happens to you while you're gone?”

“You know that you would be able to reach me, besides what could happen?”

“I dunno, something bad could. Or that bat you're going to help could try to win your affection.”

Alecto raised an eyebrow finally understanding his reluctance to see her go. She flips one leg over his lap so that she was straddling his hips and wrapped her arms around his neck. War blinks in surprise and stares at Alecto shocked by her actions, but he couldn't help liking the feel of her against him and it made him feel better because he really was worried about someone else stealing her away from him. Alecto leans her forehead against his before speaking quietly to him.

“You have nothing to worry about love; no one could sway my feeling away from you. I have loved you for a long time now and that is not going to change.”

War wraps his arms around her “I love you so much, if something happens to you someone will pay. Now let's get you to Kagome's before I change my mind.”
He stands, shifting his hold on her so that he his carrying her bridal style. He grabs her cloak and bag and calls for Kane as he opens a portal and steps through; he steps out underneath the shade of the Goshinboku and sets Alecto on her feet. Kane stands beside them as they wait for Kagome; she walks out of the house shortly, carrying Shippo and walks over to them.

“Ready to go Alecto?”
Alecto nods and turns to War “I'll be fine, find out what you can while I'm gone.” “Alright I will.” He kisses her quickly and then leaves through another portal, Kane following him.

Kagome “What was that about?”
“We realized a few things recently, that's all.”
Alecto puts her cloak on and raises the hood; she follows Kagome to the well and they hop in together. As they land on the other side Alecto takes their stuff and hops to the top, leaving it near the well she goes to help Kagome. After they are both at the top and have grabbed their stuff again they head to the village. Alecto had concealed her own scent and power upon arriving, so as they stepped into the village all that anyone notices is a small cloaked figure walking beside Kagome and Shippo. As they reach Keade's hut Sango walks out and as she notices the cloaked figure she cautiously approaches. Kagome smiles at the reaction of her older sister. “It's alright Sango, this is my friend Alecto.”

Alecto bows slightly “It is a pleasure to meet you Sango.”
Sango is slightly shocked by the fact that the voice seems ageless, before returning the greeting. “It is a pleasure to meet you as well.”
They all return to the hut, Shippo hops down and over to Kuronue and starts talking to the bat demon. Kuronue smiles at the kit as he rambles then watches as he runs outside to play; he turns his head to look at Kagome. Kagome sits down near Kuronue and motions for Alecto to come over as well. Alecto kneels by Kuronue's side and lifts a hand palm down over his heart; she closes her eyes and seems to be concentrating. Kuronue lifts an eyebrow and opens his mouth to say something but Kagome shushes him. A few minutes later Alecto opens her eyes and looks at Kagome “At sunset, it can't wait any longer then that. The healing will have to be performed outside.” She leans back against the wall and closes her eyes, without lowering the hood of her cloak. Kagome nods as she tends to Kuronue's wounds, not thinking of how weird that may have sounded to everyone else. Kuronue raises an eyebrow and looks at Kagome “What was that about and who is that?”
Kagome sits back “That is Alecto, a friend of mine and she is going to heal your wounds because I ask for her help.”

As sunset approaches Alecto awakes and leaves the hut to search for an appropriate clearing to use. She comes back shortly and gets Kagome to help her move Kuronue to the clearing. Alecto directs Kagome to the middle of the clearing and they lay him on what appears to be a bed of moss and wildflowers, then Kagome backs off.
Alecto looks at Kuronue “I know that you probably don't trust me because you don't know me and you can't feel any energy from me, but I have promised Kagome that I would help so I will not break my word to her.”
For some reason Kuronue feels himself relaxing and trusting her, he nods slightly. Alecto kneels beside Kuronue and hold one hand above his forehead and the other over his heart. “Please close your eyes.” Kuronue does as she asks and closes his eyes. Alecto starts to chant in a language that sounds like a combination of Latin and Gaelic. She closes her eyes for a few seconds and when she opens them her eyes are glowing white, she continues to chant and the same glow spreads to surround her body and then to Kuronue's body as well. Kagome watches from the edge of the clearing, slightly amazed by the amount of power and energy she can feel coming from Alecto. A few minutes later the glow begins to fade back into to Alecto, she closes her eyes again and when she opens them they are normal again. She steps back and motions to Kagome “You can remove the bandages and check the wounds to make sure I didn't miss anything.” She leans back against a nearby tree as Kagome nods and sits down beside Kuronue who is watching Alecto with a sense of amazement. “We must not stay here to long Kagome the power that I gave off will have attracted a lot of attention.” Kagome nods as she begins to unwind the bandages to check Kuronue over.

 

A few miles away to the south the silver fox Youko Kurama felt the surge of powers and took off to investigate. To the west Sesshomaru turns towards the powers and his eyes narrow slightly, he orders Jaken to take Rin on Ah Un back to the castle before following the power. The villagers and the rest of Kagome's group felt the power and the group - worried for Kagome headed in the direction that they knew their friend had gone in. Naraku also felt the power and went to find the source, hoping to be able to use it.

 

Back with Kagome, Kuronue, and Alecto

Alecto shifted her stance slightly before straightening up, though her eyes remain closed. “We are about to have quite a bit of company.”
Kagome had finished examining Kuronue and was satisfied that he had healed well. “What? Who?” Kuronue raises an eyebrow as he sits up. Just then Inuyasha comes charging in and attacks Alecto who jumps away without even a scratch, she opens her eyes and stares at his “That's not very nice.” Inuyasha growls, Kagome blinks before yelling at Inuyasha to stop. Inuyasha looks at her “WHY?!”

“Because Alecto is my friend you idiot.”

“What'do ya mean? How was I supposed to know?”

“Perhaps because she wasn't attacking.”

Alecto shrugs and flicks her tail “Don't worry about it Kagome.” She looks to the south “Our next visitor is almost here, Kuronue you'll be glad to see him.” As she finishes speaking a tall silver haired male appears, he has a fox tail and ears. Alecto moves to place herself closer to Kagome in case he misunderstands what she is doing so near Kuronue. Youko blinks as he looks at the different people, before his eyes fall on Kuronue. “YOU'RE ALIVE!” he shouts, all those with sensitive hearing wince. Kuronue nods “Yes and there is no need to shout, I can hear just fine.” Youko blinks then grins “That's good to know.” Then - as if just noticing the people closest to Kuronue, and picking up their energy signals he growls and takes a menacing step forward. Alecto answers with a growl of her own and spreads her wings “Maybe you should get the facts before making assumptions.” Kuronue spoke up “Youko it is alright, they are friends.” Youko stops growling and raises an eyebrow “I expect an explanation later.” Alecto moves to lean against the nearest tree and Youko takes a seat near Kuronue “You are the ones that I smelled.” Alecto chuckles “Yes, well what can I say except that we are unique.” Kagome's friends had taken seats around the clearing hoping that Kagome would explain about the power they felt. Alecto hopped up to sit on one of the lower tree branches “Ready for more company?” Kagome looks up at her “More company?” Alecto laughs “Yes more.” She hops down from the tree branch and walks to the middle of the clearing, when she is there she looks up and waits. A few minutes later Sesshomaru lands in the clearing and looks around, when his eyes land on Alecto they widen slightly before narrow and he stalks the few steps to her. She tilted her head to look up at him as everybody watched. “Who are you?” Alecto blinks “Aw you don't remember me Sessho? That hurts right here.” She places a hand on her chest before giggling.

“You can't be her, she died.”

“Not quite, but nearly.” She flicks her tail at him and giggles.
“Never mind it has to be you, no one else would be so insane.”

Alecto shrugs and taps her foot against the ground “So do I get a hug or not?”
Sesshomaru raises an eyebrow before pulling her into a one armed hug “What are you doing here?” he asks as he steps back. Everyone else watches wide-eyed.
“I came to help Kagome out. I see you didn't heed my warning, but we can fix that later.”
Sesshomaru grumbles about pushy females but nods.Alecto smiles “It is good to see you again.” She pulls him down near a tree and lounges against him.
{Having a good time love?}

(But of course my dear. How are you and Kane doing?)
{We have found out some interesting information, we will fill you in when you get back.)
(Alright, if anything comes up that requires my immediate attention let me know.)
{Of course, take care love.}
(You too.)

Alecto slowly smiles and swishes her tail as she plays with Sesshomaru's tail, she waves the other hand slightly and a barrier raised in front of Kagome, stopping the tentacle attack directed at her. She slowly sits up “And finally our last visitor has arrived, though less pleasant than the others. Show yourself!” A cloud of miasma flows out from the forest and as it dissipates Naraku stands just inside the clearing “Clever aren't you? You sensed me even when no one else here could. I am going to guess that power was you. ” Alecto raises an eyebrow “So whats it to you?”
“Nothing my dear, I have a proposition for you.”
“Do you?”

“Yes, why don't you join me? Together we could rule everything, do everything we want.”
“Hmmm thanks but I think I'll pass, I'm not really interested in working with a maniacal psycho maniac.”
“Well then I'll have to get rid of you.” A tentacle shoots towards Alecto who waits until the last second to move, she leaps out of the way casting a barrier around everyone else. “Now I just got done healing one person, I really don't want to be healing anyone else right now.”
“Don't worry my dear, you won't have to worry about healing anyone again once I'm done with you.” Naraku growls.
“Oh really, well give it your best shot Pal.”
“Alecto, are you sure about this?” Kagome asks from behind the barrier.

“I'm quite sure.” She spreads her wings and takes to the air, her tail lashing as Naraku launches a mass of tentacles at her. She lifts one hand and a lightning bolt conjures in her hand just as several of the tentacles pierce her flesh and she
flings the lightning at him, it hits leaving a broken puppet in its place. Alecto lands on her knees breathing hard and bleeding from several wounds, she lets the barrier fall and as she does Kagome and Sesshomaru appear at her side followed by the others. “Alecto are you alright?” Kagome asks.
Alecto nods “I wanted to make him think that I was to defeat.” She lies back on the grass to assess her wounds, and then spreads some whitish-grey powder across them. “I'll be fine after I sleep.” Sesshomaru lifts her as she starts to drift to sleep and they all head back Keade's village.

War stops looking over the scroll that he had been reading as Kane paces the floor. “I know but she's alright and would not want us to interfere for this.” Kane nods and lies down as War sighs and goes back to reading the scroll. “Please be safe my dear heart.” He whispers.
