Inuyasha walked alongside Youko, who was disguised as Shuichi at the moment. "Where should we eat?"
The redhead shrugged and stuffed his hands into his pockets. "Beats me."
Inuyasha grinned as Wacdonald's came into view. "How about there? I could use a burger, fries and shake."
Shuichi laughed and nodded. "Sounds good. Let's hope we don't get mobbed at the counter."
Inuyasha nodded, wishing it was the new moon for once in his life. His fans didn't know about that; they made sure to never hold a concert when it would be that phase of the moon.
Shuichi walked in, putting on a pair of sunglasses.
Inuyasha sighed, putting on his own pair as they walked up to the counter. Knowing his voice would give them away, he nodded to his band mate and best friend, letting him know to do the ordering. The cashier smiled welcomingly, as she had been trained to do. "Welcome to Wacdonald's, may I take your order?"
Shuichi flashed a flirtatious smile and leaned over the counter. "Well, I would like the number ten with coke and large fries." He motioned back at Inuyasha. "He'd like the same but a chocolate shake instead of coke. " He knew what Inuyasha had always gotten at Wacdonald's.
The cashier nodded, inputing the order and moving around telling the order to her co-workers. Before long, the meals were on a tray. The cashier smiled, telling her customers the total for their food.
Shuichi handed her the bills and got his change, then carried his order to the back of the restaurant.
Inuyasha walked alongside his friend, sitting next to him in the secluded booth. "Thanks, man. I knew if I ordered, we'd be mobbed. You wanna call Genkai first, or should I call Kaede first, about Kagome's training?"
He shook his head. "You call Kaede first. Genkai...I'll leave til later."
Inuyasha nodded, dialing Kaede's number and holding his phone to his head. It was specially made, it could be longer or shorter as needed, depending on when he was calling.
"Moshi moshi?" The squawk was clearly audible, even to Shuichi.
"Hey, Kaede. It's Inu. You know about the contest going on for the band right now, huh?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, the granddaughter of the shrine keeper, Kagome Higurashi...she's a priestess, and she needs help with her training. Could ya help her? She says she can't get far, 'cuz her gramps is powerless. She's got a lot of power, though." Inuyasha's vouce sounded hopeful, though he didn't know why that was.
Keade's smile could be heard through the phone "Aye, of course I could help the girl."
"Thanks. How soon can ya be at the Higurashi shrine? Can ya make is as soon as tomorrow? She seemed eager to learn."
"Aye. Just let me pack, alright, Inuyasha?"
"Yeah. Thanks a lot, I owe ya. Ja ne, Kaede-san." He had a grudging respect for her, she had become a good friend, for an old miko, anyways.
"Ja ne, Inuyasha-kun."
Inuyasha hung up and smiled. "Okay, I made my call, now it's your turn." His smile turned into a smirk. "Unless you're too afraid to talk to Genkai-san over the phone."
Shuichi gasped, coloring brightly. "N-No, I'm not afraid of Genkai-san."
"Then call her, and quit being a coward." With this, Inuyasha started to eat his meal, the smirk off his lips, but still visible in his eyes. He really wished he didn't have to hide his ears, but it was necissary, if he wanted to remain un-mobbed, anyways.
Shuichi dialed Genkai's number and waited as it rung, hoping it would just go to voicemail.
No such luck for him, though. "Moshi moshi?" Genkai's voice came from the other end. As always, she sounded a bit irritated. But today, it was just because Yusuke had decided to skip his training for the day.
"H-Hello, Genkai-san?"
"Ah, Kurama. To what do I owe this pleasure?" Her voice sounded slightly less irritated now.
He smiled, "I was just wondering if you were free for a little while? My friend is a priestess but she needs a little more training."
"Ah...I'd forgotten about your contest. This is the young miko at the Higurashi Shrine, I take it? I'm sorry for snapping before. The dimwit decided to skip his training...he'll never get stronger if he keeps slacking off."
"I know the feeling. But yes, it's Higurashi Shrine."
"I'll be there in a few hours, I have nothing else to do since dimwit decided to slack off again." She laughed. "Just be sure to warn her my training isn't easy, so she shouldn't expect me to go easy on her."
"Ok, arigato, Genkai-san."
"Doitashimashite, Kurama-kun. Ja ne."
"Ja ne."
With this she hung up and started to gather what she'd need for training the young miko, including a few training outfits of various sizes for the miko to try on. They'd have to find one that'd fit her before the training began. Inu grinned after taking a long draw from his shake and swallowing. "So, what she say?"
Shuichi hung up. "She said she'd be down today."
Inuyasha nodded before setting his phone to speaker and hitting his brother's business number, which was on speed dial.
It rang a few times, then Sesshomaru picked up and tersely barked out into the reciever. "Yes?" Things were not going well today.
"Hey, Fluffy. It's us. We need to let you know about some things we need to alter in the competition." Inuyasha smirked, chuckling.
"What?.." He asked, sounding annoyed. "Inuyasha, I'm your manager. I make the rules. I change contests."
"We heard the perfect sound for the group, but it was after we broke for the day. We heard the voices, but we didn't see the people they belonged to! We need the contest altered a little bit, just so that it's mandatory to sing in pairs, and Youko and I will be blindfolded! Please, I'm begging you, Aniki!" If his ears were visible, they'd be drooping low. As it was, his eyes and voice showed how desperate he was. Sesshomaru sighed.
"Do you agree with my baka brother, Kurama?"
Youko nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, of course. They were beautiful, you'd be amazed at the sound."
"Very well. I suppose you want me to bring a media crew, and call a break in the contest until Friday?"
"Yes!" They said in unison.
"It shall be taken care of. If that is all, I have a lot of work to do to make this happen, and I would appreciate it if you would terminate this call so I can get to work."
Shuichi smiled and highfived Inuyasha. "Sayonara, Sesshomaru."
"Sayonara, Kurama. Keep my baka brother out of trouble. Our Outo-san would have my pelt if anything happened to him, were he still alive."
"No problem. I have him under control."
"Thank you." With this Sesshomaru hung up and started making more calls to arrange everything needed. Inuyasha sighed. "Let's finish eating and then walk back to the shrine."
Shuichi kept eating. "Mmkay."
Meanwhile, back at the shrine, Cho was sitting in the living room of the shrine house. She was still fuming about Youko's words that morning before breakfast.
Kagome stood in the kitchen, trying to make ramen.
Kagome's mother sighed. "Cho's still fuming, Kagome. Why don't you go help her calm down? I'll finish the ramen." She smiled at her daughter encouragingly.
Kagome nodded and took off her apron. "Ok, thank you, Mama." She went into the living room, looking over at Cho.
Cho was growling and punching one of the pillows on the couch. "How dare he act like I'm just a toy? I refuse...I'm in love with him...but I can't...why?" She was still fuming, but tears started to roll down her cheeks.
Kagome sat down next to her friend, wary. "Cho-chan....don't think about it....."
"I love him, Kags! How could he...?"
Kagome straightened and looked into Cho's eyes. "I think he may be in love with you too."
"What makes you think that, Kags? He called me "tonight's toy"...that doesn't sound like love to me. Lust? Sure. Love? Not at all." She sounded depressed and hopeful at the same time.
"He looked really depressed when you yelled at him."
"Did he? Really?"
"Yep!" Kagome giggled.
Cho blushed. "I can't just forgive him for what he said...I'd seem weak, like any other stupid ningen...I can't do that. He's gonna have to earn my forgiveness."
Kagome nodded "As he should. You shouldn't bow down to any man."
"Do you want to know what I'm gonna make him do to earn my forgiveness?" She had a smirk on her face. Someone was always in for torment when she smirked.
"Uh-oh, what kind of hell are you gonna put him in?" Kagome smiled, bemused.
"Knowing kitsune nature? The worst kind. First off, he's gonna have to give me a relaxing massage while I lay on the air mattress with nothing but a towel on me...and behave himself. Secondly, after he apologizes, he'll have to go without any actual sex for a full week. And he'll have to find a gift that'll show me he didn't mean to call me a toy." She let out a little giggle. It'd sound innocent to most anyone else, but to those who knew her, it'd give away that she was going to have a devil moment. "You have to tell him about it, though, Kags. That's the worst part of the hell!"
Kagome's eye twitched. "And you think he'll listen to what you said? He could have any woman he wants."
"If he really feels the way you think, he'll do anything to prove it. It's a challenge, and kitsune can't leave a challenge unanswered. It's the part of kitsune nature that'll work in my favor."
"True..." Kagome laughed, beginning to get excited.
Cho laughed. "Wait here for them, I'll go get prepared in your room!" With this, she ran upstairs to get ready. Before long, Inuyasha walked in, taking off his baseball hat. He smiled and walked over to Kagome. "Hey, Kagome-chan. How're you this afternoon?" He sat down next to her.
Kagome blushed and fidgeted, unconsciously leaning into him, catching a slight whiff hazelnut and cocoa. 'Was...was that him?' she wondered, wide-eyed.
"Curious about something, Kagome?" He relaxed, something about her just put him at ease; something he needed with being a rock star. People didn't realize just how stressful it was. Youko followed soon after, sitting in a beanbag chair.
"Oh nothing..." Kagome's eyes flicked over to Youko, biting her lip. She could'nt flirt with Inuyasha with someone else around, especially her best friend's crush and target.
Youko looked over at Kagome. "Is Cho still mad at me?" His fox ears drooped low on his head, seeming depressed. Sadness was considered a weakeness, but he couldn't help it. He liked her too much.
Kagome nodded. "But she's considering forgiving you."
"So...are there conditions?" He seemed wary. Cho had showed him over breakfast that she was well-versed in Kitsune lore, and so he knew it wouldn't be simple.
"Yep." She laughed and listed them all.
Inuyasha laughed, knowing his band mate. He watched and waited to see what his best friend would do, though he had a pretty good guess already. This was a challenge like no other the kitsune had ever been offered before.
Youko looked stunned. He shook his head. "No way, that's not happening."
Inuyasha laughed more. "You want her to stay mad at you, man? Sounds like this girl means that she won't forgive you if you can't meet her conditions. Afraid you can't overcome her challenge?" he asked the last question in a mocking tone of voice.
"I can do it, easy!" Youko scowled. "I just don't want to."
"Bet ya can't! Bet ya that you're just too scared to do it! Afraid that a human woman can beat you at the kitsune's own game? I triple-dog dare you to take the challenge!" He knew that he had the right of the triple-dog dare, having been friends with Youko for the past 500 years.
Youko growled and slammed a fist to the table "Fine! I'll accept!"
Inuyasha grinned. "So...where is she, Kagome?"
Kagome smiled. "Upstairs."
Inu nodded. "Get to it, man. Good luck." He smirked, knowing it'd irk his friend into immediate action.
Youko scowled deeply and darted up the stairs, following the scent of the fiery young woman who had secretly claimed his heart.
Cho smiled at Youko as he entered Kagome's room. "Decided to make things up to me, I take it?" She smiled at him again, though it didn't fully reach her eyes. This was gonna be fun for her.
He smiled and nodded carefully. That smile made him weary. "Yeah...anyways, I'm here to serve you, Cho-sama." He grinned.
Cho smiled from her place on the airbed, settling down more comfortably, though her movements hinted at sore and stiff shoulder muscles. "Thank you. I would like a shoulder massage, please. I just hope you can behave yourself, keep your hands and tail in appropriate places." With this, she rested her head on the bed after moving her long hair out of the way so he could see her shoulders. In some points on her shoulders and upper back, the knots were clearly visible to any with demonic vision. There were about a dozen such spots, and the knots in the muscles looked painful.
Youko knelt over her, working out the knots slowly, one by one. "Man, you're tense, Cho-sama."
"Well, things have been tough. At first, I was worried my parents were gonna get hurt on the flight to the states, then I was stressed and upset when Kagome and I couldn't go to the concert last night. Then on top of that, you called me 'tonight's toy', and after that, I had to polish the well. That's an extremely demanding chore, you know." When she'd brought up what he'd said, her voice hitched and broke a tiny bit, though she was unaware of that fact.
His ears dropped. "I'm sorry, Cho-sama..."
Cho sighed. "I've liked you and been a loyal fan of yours for a long time, Youko-san. I know part of the reason you sleep around is because Kitsune need to feed on sexual energy as well as regular food for their body...but it hurt that you'd say that about me. Do you really think you can go a full week without any energy feeding?" Her voice sounded almost hopeful. This was the one condition that could make or break things in her eyes.
"I'll try, Cho-sama..."
Cho sighed, knowing that was the best he could promise. She smiled at him over her shoulder, it reached her eyes more than before. She moaned quietly as he worked out the last of the knots. "Thank you, Youko...that feels much better...you're quite skilled in working muscles, though I guess I shouldn't have expected less of a kitsune." She waited to see what the gift would be, curious about what he'd give her.
He sat up and closed his eyes, holding out a hand. A rose bush grew in his palm, glowing red.
When she saw it, her eyes widened. It was beautiful, and, among Silver Kitsune, very symbolic. They used roses for attack, so giving them to others was a pledge to protect them. She took it, the smile finally reaching her eyes fully. She put it on a table near the window before hugging him tightly, reguardless of her state of dress...or rather, lack of dress. "I forgive you, Youko..." she whispered in his ear. He had the most amazing scent...roses and spring rain. Down in the living room, Inuyasha chuckled as he heard Cho moving. "I think she forgives him."
Kagome giggled "I do too."
"So...you looked like you were wondering something earlier...what was it?"
Kagome turned bright red. "Well, I was wondering what kind of cologne you used...you smell amazing.."
"I don't use cologne...it's too much for my nose. Same with Youko, or any demon...we can't use cologne without passing out or barfing." He smiled...not a grin, or a smirk, but an actual smile. "What do I smell like to you?"
She blushed, amazed that it was his own scent. " well, you smell like hazelnut and cocoa..."
His golden eyes sparkled. "Were you wearing any perfume when you came to get us this morning?"
Kagome shook her head. "I don't own any perfume."
Inuyasha sighed, inhaling her unique fragrance again. "Well, you smell like almond, sakura blossom, and freesia."
Kagome blushed. "Oh, wow."
He nodded, pulling back to look into her eyes. His own showed that he loved the way she smelled. Meanwhile, in Kagome's room, Cho was still hugging Youko.
Youko hugged back, smiling. "You smell amazing, Cho-sama."
Cho blushed. "Really...You think so?" Her blush deepened. "I mean...I don't like perfume...there's none that I like, they're all nasty. You smell great, too..."
He grinned "Really? What do I smell like to you?"
She blushed more. "Like roses and spring rain."
Youko smiled. "And you smell like lavender, coconut, and the slightest hint of the ocean."
She smiled, pulling away from the hug, but then blushed, looking away and quickly wrapping the towel around her. She was shy and uncertain about her body. She'd recently lost weight, and she still had stretch marks from where she'd lost the weight.
He stands up and moves toward the door. "I'll see you after you get dressed, Cho-chan." He smiles.
Cho smiled back. "Thank you, Youko-kun. I'll be out shortly." She went about dressing after he stepped out.
