Chapter 8
Remembering Betrayal
After Kagome's and Kurama's escapade to the park, Kurama decided it was very much time for Kagome and himself to have a talk about where she came from and most importantly, why. Making up his mind as to where they should have this talk, he opened a telepathic link to Koenma and Hiei, hoping to get the attention of one of them.
He got Koenma, asking for a safe place to talk, Koenma granted Kurama his request. Feeding Kurama the information, Koenma severed the link and Kurama led Kagome to the desired meeting place. Kurama hoping that one of his comrades would be there.
Kagome had totally forgotten the Feudal Era and her little mishap with Inuyasha. Her day had been spent well, but she would soon have to begin thinking about things, such as where she was and if she could get home. She hoped her new friend could aid her in finding her house, but first she had follow him, to where, she had no idea.
Kurama found his place, knowing it to be a disguised portal to Koenma's office, all he had to do was get Kagome across the threshold. Kagome's miko powers frazzled and even more so the closer she got to the building Kurama was leading her to. She was afraid to stop him, so she kept on, but more conscious with what was going on around her.
Kurama sensed immense power, growing with every step he took. He looked around with his eyes, not sure of what was following him and his companion. He remained at his pace, not dragging Kagome. He reached the door and opened it. The chime of a bell went off as the door opened up all the way. Both entered.
Kagome's powers cooled down, but not fully. She was now in a clean office, a large desk sitting to the back room and behind it she could see a small child sitting in a chair. Kurama seemed to know him, not asking any questions she stood behind Kurama, her hands neatly grasped in front of her.
Koenma stared at the young woman. He then knew that she was the one who caused the disturbance between time, how he knew, he himself wasn't even sure. He turned his attention to Kurama and simply stated "This is your mission." Koenma then got down from his chair and went into another room.
Kurama more confused than before, turned and looked at Kagome. 'So innocent.' He thought 'But what could she be hiding?' He moved closer to her and told her "Never mind the toddler." She was surprised that he could talk so clearly through his pacifier. She nodded.
"Kagome, I really need to know where you came from and, well, everything." he asked, he hated prying into others business but for some reason or another, she was his assignment. He had to figure her out, he needed to know everything.
Kagome, for the first time that day had to think. Here memories of earlier enjoyment with Kurama were now slowing being replaced by the horrible ones of Inuyasha and the vortex. The past that she had once knew and had so forcefully been pushed back into, had now taken over her life. It had been such a huge part of her and now it was her greatest fear.
Tears began to well up in her eyes, escaping down her cheeks. Kurama made no move, as much as his own selfless heart begged him to, he remained. This for some reason was good for her, maybe if she talked to someone she would feel better. Kagome looked into Kurama's eyes and began to speak. Her voice squeaky at first but growing with each word spoken.
Soon her words had grown into complete distaste and bitterness toward this Inuyasha fellow. He soon found out that the betrayal in the couples relationship had ultimately killed Kagome and some how she found herself in a new time and place. Kurama was sure he could find the Higarashi Shrine but it would be difficult.
He felt pity and sympathy for her. She had been through so much and from the sound of Kagome's voice, she wasn't too happy for herself either. He wasn't sure what to do, what actions to take, or what to say. He was known by his comrades as the 'Girly' boy, with his roses and long hair. If only they could see him now, hell, if they could be him, they would know very much that he wasn't girly at all. He felt feelings stir deep down inside himself that he never knew he had.
His instincts took over and he found himself holding her, his nose buried deep down within her raven hair. He could feel her shaking from her episode and she continued to cry. She wrapped her arms around his waist and there in the middle of Koenma's office, Kurama held Kagome and Kagome held Kurama.
He stood there rocking her, rubbing her back and cooing softly, desperately trying to make her calm down. All he wanted to see was her smile. 'Goodness, what am I thinking?' he scolded himself. This was not the time to want anything from her. He needed more information first.
He pulled away from her, his arms draped loosely around her waist, he looked into her sad eyes. He knew prying deeper would open more wounds, but he needed to know, to help her. "Kagome, I know it hurts, but you need to tell me the whole story, beginning to end."
Kagome sighed and sat down on the floor. Kurama guessed that this was going to be long and difficult for her. But he sat and patiently listened. Her words were harsh and full of irony. He wasn't prepared for her to sound like this. He figured that this person that she once loved so true, had really hurt her.
She went from when she was first drug down into the well, to when she first met Inuyasha, then to the last time she saw him, the day she left her friends and him, the day she was betrayed. He couldn't believe that friends that were like brother and sister to Kagome treated her the way they did and said the things that they said, and what Inuyasha did. Kagome was no longer crying, in fact, she was feeling pretty darn good, getting all that stuff off of her chest.
"Kagome, you do know that we are going to have to go back into the past?" He asked, his inquisitive eyes met her now relieved ones. "Yes." She said, apparently ready to do so. He hoped that she wasn't wanting to go back to him, the one that had hurt her so badly.
"Do you think we'll need any help?" He asked, more questions popping into his head, those of which he was embarrassed to even think over, pushing them aside he got up and helped Kagome up along with him. "No, why?" She asked and answered all at once. "I was just wondering." he answered.
"Well, I think I have all the protection that I need." She stated looking at Kurama with flirtatious eyes. He had never had girl look at him like that before, whether she meant it to come off as flirting or as a pure accident, Kurama was on a happiness high.

Hey, if there are any spelling mistakes, please forgive, it's almost 2 a.m. and I promise I'll make revisions later. Hope you liked it, I'll try to wrap this story up in a few more chapters, but I'm sure that won't happen. I have a huge plot strolling around in my head and I'm still trying to get the kinks out of it, I want it to be unique and not like any other crossover fic. I really need votes they may be closed in the next two chapters, I'm still undecided. It could go anyway. But thanks for the reviews and thanks for the votes!
