Hi you all. I finally completed the first chapter and figured out what the title to this story would be. Hope you like and let me know what you think of this so far. In case your wondering, Kagome doesn't meet Sango and Miroku just yet. It takes a little bit before she finds out that her friends are alive and well is this era.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Kagome's True Purpose

 

 

Prologue

 

The final battle was fiercer and more bitter than they could have imagined. Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha, and Kagome will never forget the day which brought so much pain and bitterness as well as such happiness. Happiness because Nuraku was finally defeated. Bitterness and pain because Nuraku's defeat triggered the disappeance of Kagome and the death of Kohaku. Even Sesshomaru's Tensaiga was unable to bring back the human boy. It seems the Tensaiga has a mind of its own and chooses who it is willing to bring back or not.

 

Well for now we will back up and tell you of the fight with Nuraku. Sesshomaru had become allies with the Inu gang in order to defeat Nuraku. As well as Koga of the wolf tribe. Among the final weeks before the battle against Nuraku Kagome and Sesshoumaru had gotten closer. Sesshoumaru had gained much respect for the young miko and as such started training her soon after he joined with the group. The way Sesshoumaru saw it, the battle against Nuraku would need all of them. So they all must be prepared to fight, and that also meant the miko. Kagome learned a lot while she trained under Sesshoumaru, but even as she trained it appeared that the more she trained the more her miko powers grew. Since they kept growing, this made it hard on the young miko to control them.

 

A week before the battle Kagome had a quiet talk with Sesshoumaru.

 

***flashback ****

 

“Seshy, May I please speak with you?”

 

Sesshoumaru sighed, he had long given up on trying to correct her on his name. It seems this miko only listens when she feels like it.

 

“Yes miko, what is on your mind.”

 

“Lord Sesshoumaru, This miko, the priest Kagome has a request she would ask of you?” Kagome asked formally.

 

Sesshoumaru arched an eyebrow. For this miko to formally request something, this was serious. “This Sesshoumaru will consider any request you make of him.”

 

“Lord Sesshoumaru, This miko's only request is that if something were to happen to her, you would please train and raise Shippo, and Inuyasha. This miko knows that it is a lot to ask of you but her heart is heavy and fears that unseen forces may force her to part from all those that she loves.” Kagome replied.

 

“Lady Kagome, This Sesshoumaru will raise and train Shippo, and will train and tolerate his brother Inuyasha. This Sesshoumaru will do this because this miko, who this Sesshoumaru holds much respect and affection for, asks it of him.” Sesshomaru said formally.

 

Kagome breathed in a sigh of relief. She was so scared that he might have said no, especially since she included Inuyasha into the request. “Thank you Sesshy.”

 

“Kagome why this request.”

 

“Well Sesshoumaru, there is something I think you should know.” Kagome then proceeded to inform him of her time and the well….

 

**end of flashback**

 

During the final battle Sesshoumaru along with Kouga had managed to get rid of most of the lower demons, but since there were so many they were slightly exhausted. Miroku was had sucked up much of the lower demons as well as the poisonous wasps, he was now suffering from the poison. Sango was fighting her brother Kohaku, and unfortunately was forced to kill him. She was about to end her own life when she saw Miroku fall. Upon seeing Miroku fall she went running to his side only to see Sesshoumaru slice through Miroku with his Tensaiga healing him from the poison. Kouga was now trying to fight against Kanna, but she just kept on dodging him. Inuyasha was too busy slicing Nuraku's many tentacles in an effort to get closer to him, while Shippo and Kilala were slowly working on the demons that were left. Kagura was watching in the shadows. She did not want to help Nuraku and was hoping that the Inu gang would win.

 

So it was not surprising that no one saw a certain miko get captured by one of the tentacles. Nuraku had wrapped Kagome in one of his tentacles and stole what few shards she had left. Once he had this he got the shard from Kohaku and completed the Shikon No Tama. Just as it seems that Nuraku was going to win the impossible happened. The Shikon No Tama apparently wanted nothing to do with Nuraku and shot out of his hands and into the miko's. Suddenly the young miko started to glow a bright blue with hints of a light purple. Suddenly the screams of a totured Nuraku filled the air as it seemed as if he was burning to death. The light grew till it surrounded everything. It surrounded Nuraku along with the Inu gang, Kagura, Kanna, and all the other demons. The light purified Nuraku along with the other demons, but filled the rest with such calmness and peace. Kagura and Kanna were allowed to live seeing as how they were only puppets of Nuraku. Kagura was given back her heart and Kanna was given emotions to feel.

 

For some reason unknown to all these two were spared. Only Kagome knew why and didn't have time to tell them why. Soon all they could see was the ashes of the dead demons. They all cheered in victory or would have if not for the death of Kohaku. Sesshoumaru had tried to bring him back to life, but to his frustration the sword would not allow it.

 

All of a sudden the Miko started to fade with the jewel held in her hands. With tears running down her face she wish them a happy life and to never forget her. She loved them all.

 

So it was that a young miko reappeared in her time standing in a park not far from her home in tears. Heartbroken because she would never see her friends again. But uncertain as to what was to become of her. The jewel slowly went back into her body only this time instead of the jewel entering her and staying whole in her body it slowly dissolved and became one with its owner. The power of the jewel become one with the miko. Not knowing what was going on, but feeling as if this were not the end, not really, the miko got up and went home. Since the jewel become one with her, she felt that the jewel had another purpose for her. But what it was the miko had yet to find out.
