A/N: Okay, so…people are still weird on the pairings. Let me clear this up. This is a Kagome/Hiei and Raven/Kurama fic. I have decided that I will write another crossover, eventually, with Raven/Hiei and Kagome/Kurama. There are also those who wish for a Sesshomaru/Raven. Guess they sensed some tension there. Perhaps I will work on something to that nature as well. Also, I am currently working on another fanfic, another Kag/Sess…its going to be called Two Faces of the Highwayman. I might go ahead and make it a slight crossover since it will be an AU. I hope to have the first chapter posted soon. Thanks…~EvilLilVixen

 

Chapter 12: Awakening

Kagome slowly opened her eyes to a very nice chest. She immediately felt herself blush as she looked up to Hiei's face from her place on his chest. He made a wonderful pillow. She smiled softly at how peaceful he looked before trying to elude his grasp. She really needed to go to the bathroom.

 

Hiei was having the best sleep of his life. The faint scent of Sakura blossoms and cinnamon drifted through his mind. He felt whatever the scent clung to try to leave his grasp. He frowned. Oh hell no. He was the most relaxed and at peace he had ever been. It was not leaving. He clung tighter and pulled it back against him as he snuggled into it. The started squeak that came out of it awoke him from his stupor. And when did he snuggle?

 

He peaked open one crimson eye to see startled blue ones glance at him. The miko's cheeks were stained a pretty pink as she was pressed against his bare chest.

 

“Stop moving.” He said.

 

“But I have to go to the bathroom.” She whined. He grunted before releasing her as he watched her dash from the room. Perhaps he was glad she did, as he sat on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands. He had been cuddling her after all. But her scent and her body, when pressed against his, sent his mind into such a relaxed state that he did not want to release her. In fact, looking at her sleepy blue eyes as she was pressed against him arouse such fierce instincts in him. If she hadn't complained he probably would have ravaged her right there. He didn't like it. It was one thing he prided himself was on his control. He needed to control the Jagan eye and he needed to control the Dragon of Darkness Flame. So how was it that the moment you placed a pair of blue eyes before him all that went to naught. He snorted. Not just any pair of blue eyes, a pair that belong on the face of a tenshi miko. Great, he was becoming poetic. He didn't like what was happening to him, but he couldn't say he was complaining either.

 

Kagome bounced back into the bedroom and stopped at the door. He still didn't have a shirt on. Her eyes raked over his nicely chiseled chest and down his defined arms to the bindings. She frowned. Was he hurt?

 

He must have noticed her inquisitive stare, he brought that foremost in the mind because he found it best if he didn't linger of the effect she had on him when she lazy ran her eyes over him.

 

“They're bindings, miko.” He answered her unspoken question. Kagome stepped forward and ran her fingers over the bindings feeling the holy energy bound in them. Her eyes were puzzled as she contemplated this new piece of information.

 

“They have holy ki in them. It doesn't hurt?” she asked him as she glanced into his crimson eyes. But he was looking at her. His eyes were currently closed as he fought against the pull of the Dragon. It was fighting him viciously right now. It wants Kagome. She must have sensed his distress because she placed a calming hand on him. The Dragon immediately calmed under her soothing energy. He opened his eyes to look at her worried ones. Before he could question her, a voice cut through the room startling both occupants.

 

“I hear you two are very photogenic” Yusuke smirked from the doorway.

 

The bastard spent the night.

 

And what the hell did he mean by photogenic?

 

The smirking Genkai behind Yusuke did not escape Hiei's notice as he growled. Kagome looked startled and confused all at once before she let out a squeal. Everyone winced.

 

“We left Raye alone with a horney kistune!” She dashed out of the room to find something to change into. Yusuke looked confused for a moment before it dawned on him.

 

“You left Raven alone with Kurama? How is that bad?” he asked. Hiei grunted as he through on a shirt. Of course the detective didn't know.

 

“Youko has taken to her.” Hiei said as he grabbed his katana and strapped to his side. Yusuke winced. That was not a good tone he just used. And Youko wanting Raven was also not good. Sure, Kurama deserved a nice girl, but when you through Youko in with the mixed. Yusuke sighed as he followed Hiei out to find Yukina calming a distressed Kagome. Kurama needed someone who could understand him and Youko. But he wasn't blind. There was something wrong with Raven that no one was telling him and it was driving him up the wall. What the hell was going on with his team?

 

Youko had awoken early to watch the slumbering face of the demoness. It felt wonderful to hold the young female in his arms and it would make him eternally happy if she bore his mark while he held her, but one step at a time. Raven was a tough demoness, but her mind had been shattered and at such a young age. She was fragile in that aspect and he valued that in her.

 

He felt Hiei's contentment through their mind link. Somebody got laid. Then again, he had never felt such peace from the hybrid. Kagome was doing wonders to his reclusive friend. His golden eyes landed back on Raven's face as he traced her markings before lingering on her scars. He had discovered many of them in his observation of her body and they angered him greatly. How could a male do that to his own daughter? He snorted. Hiei had better made sure they suffered.

 

He stiffened as he felt Hiei and Kagome's energy approaching at a quick pace. Seems Kagome was anxious to see Raven. Youko smirked as he felt that his other half deserved some time with the beautiful demoness for his…snide…comments last night. He covered her body with his own in a dominant position and nosed her neck to take in her jasmine scent. Raven shifted only a little before letting out a small sigh. She wasn't happy about the submissive position but she was too far in sleep to care. Silver hair shortened to red as golden eyes becoming green were covered by eye lids. Shuichi was blissfully unaware of his counterpart's scheme as he slept against Raven. That would teach his human half to taunt him with Hiei. Raven was theirs.

 

Kagome opened the door to her house as she stepped in. It was still early; years of Inu Yasha waking her up in the warring states had permanently set her biological time clock to `crack of dawn'. She softly walked up the stairs to not wake the slumbering occupants. Hiei had stayed outside but took it upon himself to come through the window. The sight that greeted him made his blood boil.

 

Kurama was using Raven's chest as a pillow as she tossed and turned in her sleep trying to escape the submissive position. Hiei gave Raven a sharp mental poke as he sent a warning to Kagome as she came into the room. No sense in beating the fox senseless, Raven would want that honor.

 

Dark eyes were revealed as Raven lazily yawned. She went to stretch but found her arms pinned. She frowned as she glanced down at Kurama using her as a pillow. Her eyes got wide before they narrowed into slits. Her face was turning red and her voice came out in a hiss.

 

“Traitor!” she screamed as Kurama woke with a start. He sat up and looked down at the furious demoness pinned beneath him. If he was confused in the least bit, Youko's laughter in his head was not helping. Nor were the scathing looks he was receiving from Kagome and Hiei. Raven knocked him to the floor with a loud crash. Hiei took the opportunity to get Kagome out of there before Raven set the room on fire.

 

Yusuke had just let in Kuwabara when Kagome and Hiei came downstairs. Both ignored them as they stared at the ceiling as if they could see what was going on. A serious crashes and curses followed.

 

“I knew I shouldn't trusted you…you…kinky bastard!” Raven's horrified voice rang through the house.

 

“You must believe me, Raven. I had nothing to do with this, Youko..” Kurama whimpered.

 

“Do not speak his name!” Raven screeched as something else crashed.

 

“What are you doing?” Kurama demanded suddenly. A sudden surge of ki flowed through the house along with Raven's voice.

 

“SIT!” CRASH.

 

“Damn it! I thought I had all the subjugation beads!” Kagome cried as she went upstairs to save Kurama from Raven's wrath. About half way there she stopped. Did she really want to get in the middle of this?

 

“I am going to SIT (CRASH) you so hard that damn kitsune in you in going to feel it too! SIT!” CRASH. Well, she at least should make sure she doesn't sit him through the ceiling. Obviously everyone else was thinking along the same lines as they filed up the stairs. The sight that greeted them was Kurama face planted on the floor, twitching. Raven's small form towered over him as she wrapped a robe around herself. She stuck her nose up in the air as she marched past them to the bathroom.

 

“Damn you, Youko.” Kurama whimpered. Youko whimpered back.

 

`I'm not supposed to feel it too!' He whined. Kurama snorted as he picked himself off the floor to meet the glares of his companions. He hung his head as he felt Hiei's rising anger.

 

`We are so dead.'

 

`That's an understatement. So, tell me, are they as cushiony as they looked?'

 

`Fox!' Hiei's voice rang through the mind, bridled with fury.

 

`I take it you didn't get laid. Bah, neither did we so get over it.' Hiei's eyes narrowed at Kurama who shifted restlessly on the floor. Kagome mumbled something about breakfast and headed downstairs. Spikey, her neko meowed from down the hall and she picked him up on her way down. Kuwabara, seeing the cat followed her down. Yusuke shock his head at Kurama.

 

“I never thought you had it in you. I suspected something like that from Youko, but not you.” Yusuke smirked. Hiei clobbered him over the head and Yusuke howled.

 

“It was his fault.” Kurama muttered as Raven walked in the room in a towel. She blushed before placing a hand on her hip and pointing another at the door.

 

“Out all you hentai males!” she screeched. They rushed out but not before a `sit' and a `down' spilled from her lips. Unfortunately for the two males subjugated, they were on the stairs and face planted their selves at the bottom. Yusuke leaned on a railing and laughed. “I have another with your name on it, detective!” Raven threw a shoe out her door and hit Yusuke in the head sending him down the stairs and on the two demons.

 

“She's scary in the morning.” Yusuke grumbled as he got off the sputtering demons.

 

“She hasn't had her coffee yet.” Kagome frowned as she eyed the males before placing her hands on her hips. “I hope all of you are happy.” She declared before marching back in the kitchen. She was in the process of packing her yellow backpack when she heard the commotion. Perhaps it was a good thing her family was out of town. Her Onii-san would be trying to purify everyone and her mother…well…lets not go into that right now.

 

Kagome glanced back towards the living room where she sensed Inu Yasha. Obviously someone was impatient. She gave a sigh as she forced her backpack closed.

 

“Do you need to go home first, Kurama?” Kagome asked the kistune avatar as he pulled on the subjugation beads. He looked up at her and nodded.

 

“I never got to go home last night,” Kurama stopped playing with the beads. “I can get there and back within an hour. There is no need to wait for me.” Kagome nodded and watched as he left the kitchen. She let a faint smile spread across her face as she glanced upstairs where Raven was getting ready. He is going to have his hands full. She laughed quietly to herself as Inu Yasha strolled in the kitchen. He glared at the rest of the guys before strolling over to Kagome.

 

“Are you ready or not, wench. We don't have all day!” he snapped as he tucked his arms in his haori.

 

“I am working on it, Inu Yasha.” Kagome said. “Raven is getting ready as we speak.” Speaking of which, she was stomping down the stairs as they spoke. Raven wore her brown training pants and thigh strap boots for traveling. A thin shirt was showed off the scars on her arms but none from her previous energy. Ryo sat upon her shoulder and Spikey upon the other. Spikey, upon seeing Kagome, leapt to her shoulder where she gave him a scratch.

 

“What do you want, Puppy?” Raven demanded. Inu Yasha glared at the demoness before snorting.

 

“What's got you all pissy?” he asked. Yusuke snorted.

 

“I guess she didn't like waking up next to Kurama. Kagome had no problem with using Hiei as a teddy bear.” Kagome blushed as Hiei growled. Raven raised an eyebrow at the young miko she considered her family before grinning wickedly at Hiei. Inu Yasha on the other hand, found nothing humorous about the situation.

 

“What?!” he demanded as he advanced on Kagome. She took a step back as he set about sniffing her. She tried to push him away but he caught her wrists. Yep, he could smell that damn hybrid all over her. What, he couldn't leave well enough alone with Raven? Inu Yasha growled.

 

“Let me go.” Kagome demanded. Raven yanked Inu Yasha by the back of his haori and preceded to drag him outside.

 

“I am going to kill that damn hybrid for touching what is mine!” Inu Yasha growled as he fought against Raven. She frowned before pushing him down on the ground and looming over him.

 

“Yours?” she hissed. “I am no fool, Inu Yasha. Kagome had feelings for you. But you continued to step all over her. She was only a means to get the Shikon. You don't care for her feelings.”

 

“Of course I do!” Inu Yasha stood up and towered over her. “You don't know me!”

 

“I know Kagome was the first person to ever accept you! And this is how you treat her?” Raven demanded. Inu Yasha's ears flattened to his head as he looked away. “Hiei would never hurt her or Kami help him I would kill him. She is just what he needs. Perhaps you should start looking for what is best for Kagome and not Inu Yasha. She is your friend, so…treat as such.” With that Raven turned on her heel and headed back towards the house. She hoped she had given him enough to chew on.

 

Indeed, Inu Yasha sat in the God Tree as he watched the rest gather outside to await Kurama before heading to the well. Kagome wore her slayers outfit under her clothes and her new katana was strapped to her hip. The hybrid wasn't far from her and Inu Yasha could tell that nothing would harm Kagome when he was near by. He wasn't stupid; he could feel the strength rolling off that demon. He could give his bastard brother a run for his money if he put his mind to it.

 

So, was Raven right? Had he been treating Kagome wrongly all these years? Of course he had. He knew the girl had feelings for him. But he could never look at her without seeing Kikyo. He tried everything to push her away, telling her in his own way that he wasn't good enough for someone like her. It just hurt to see someone else taking his place as protector and stealing the young miko's heart from him. He had no doubt that Kagome would always remain his friend; it just hurt to see her move on.

 

Then there was Raven. The demoness had grown on everyone in their shard hunting group. Hell, even his brother was taken by the demoness. Now that fox within that group of strangers was putting the moves on the soul shattered woman.

 

What in the hell was he going to do?

Kurama arrived before long carrying his own bag. Everyone stood around the well house awaited Inu Yasha. Said hanyou jumped from his perch and took Kagome's bag without saying a word. She gave him one of her special smiles in thanks. She knew it was his way of saying sorry. Raven was towards the back of the group looking wary. Ryo meowed from her feet and she reached down and picked him up. He could sense her wariness and was concerned for his mistress.

 

“Something is going to happen, Ryo. I just know it. There is this feeling in my bones that this is the final time. Naraku is ready and he is not going down easily.” Ryo meowed in agreement. “Lets just hope I am wrong about that last part.” She whispered as she followed everyone through the well.

 

Once they arrived on the other side they were greeted by Sango, Miroku, Kirara, and Shippo. Introductions were made and they all set off to Kaede's hut.

 

“It seems we will be able to defeat youkai much easier than before.” Miroku said as his staff jingled as he walked.

 

“Feh, weaklings.” Inu Yasha said from the front of the group. Kagome rolled her eyes as she held Shippo. Spikey was upon her shoulder and Shippo adored the little neko. Raven snorted from her placed behind Kagome as she shifted her blades upon her back. Yusuke and Kuwabara continued to fight behind the rest of the group while Kurama was walking next to Raven and Hiei near Kagome. No one said a word about the close proximity of the male youkai near their female companions.

 

“So, Kags.” Raven was feeling mischievous when she got bored. “What about Kouga?” Kagome stumbled a moment before she regained her footing blushing profusely.

 

“Where is that mangy wolf?!” Inu Yasha demanded, tetsusaiga out and ready.

 

“He's not here, Inu Yasha. Lady Raven was only playing.” Miroku said as he stopped near the demoness. She looked at him warily as she sensed his hand begin to wander. Raven did some quick contemplating before deciding that if she was going to make steps repairing her soul. Now would be a great time.

 

The hand wandered before contacting the backside.

 

Miroku squeaked and jumped away from Raven. She tapped her chin with her claw before smiling lecherously at the monk.

 

“You have a wonderful backside, Monk.” She winked before continuing on her way. The others stood in shock at what Raven did for a moment as Miroku continued to sport at least ten shades of red.

 

“I don't believe anyone has ever groped Miroku before.” Kagome said as she stepped up with Raven to continue to Kaede's. Raven shrugged.

 

“It's a very nice ass.” She said then grinned over to Sango. “Seriously! You should try it some time Sango. Give what is taken I say!” and the demoness sped up her steps to enter the village. Not missing the taijiya's blush.

 

“Ye have returned.” Kaede waited for them outside her hut. “And ye bring youkai?” Raven snorted.

 

“They're like lost puppies. They follow you everywhere.” She snorted before ducking into the hut.

 

“What's gotten into her?” Yusuke asked. Everyone stared at the spot where Raven had once stood. Kagome began to laugh. “Great, now Kagome has lost it. This stuff better not be contagious.”

 

“No, Yusuke.” Kagome shook her head. “Healing, Raven is healing.” The rest of the Inu Tachi smiled, understanding. The newcomers were a confused except for a fire apparition.

 

A/N: YES! Another one is done. I feel like celebrating! I am out of school so I should be able to post chapters more quickly! Hopefully I will be able to work on a chapter for `Fingering Moonbeams'. I love that fic and its going to be good! IF I ever get around to it. *grumbles* REVIEW PLEASE!
