As daylight broke, one thing could be certain…It was the end of summer and the beginning of hell.

 

 

“KAGOME HIGURASHI! DO YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS YOUNG LADY? YOU'RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR YOUR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL AND I WILL NOT BE GIVING YOU A RIDE IF YOU MISS THE BUS! NOW GET YOUR ASS UP!”

 

Kagome knew this was going to be a long day and she already had a pounding headache from her mother's incessant yelling. Normally Mrs. Higurashi was a kind and caring mother who always put her children first, but ever since she got laid off work, the bills and expenses were becoming worse. Especially for a single, unemployed mother raising two kids.

 

`Of course there was Ji-chan, but he doesn't really count considering he doesn't work either. Personally, I think he uses his old aging as an excuse, but who am I to judge. I mean I'm 15 and while I could help my mother out, I'd prefer writing the gossip column with my best friend Sango.

As Inuyasha opened his eyes Miroku's bespectacled face came into view. He was wearing a navy blue shirt and khaki high-waters with his shirt tucked in. His black leather belt matched his huge glasses.

 

`Yes, it was true, he and Miroku were nerds. It wasn't as if they tried, it just came across that way,' Inuyasha thought as he started to go through his morning ritual.
