Running
Disclaimer: Unfortunately "Inu Yasha"/"Yu Yu Hakusho" have not been
created by me. I just get to write silly stories. Takahashi and well as
Togashi
are the one's who created it. Not. I. Her-umpf.
***Sorry about all the minor changes.***
Italics: thoughts

Words:
Mou: exasperated sigh
Kami: gods
Hai: Yes
Onegai: please
Onee-san
Jii-chan : Kagome's grandpa

The heat was unbearable at the Higurashi shrine, but that did not
matter
now. Not when Hiei was sitting on the Goshinboku, providing what
relief that
it could, still demanding of himself, why he was still out here, and not
patrolling the Western Maki, as a favor to Sesshomaru. Not when Hiei
was
torn between two life-altering decisions...and he knew it. How can this
turn

out well?!, basically shouting at himself. He knew Kagome's
backround,
and knew it wouldn't be easy. In a world like this, no less??, he semi-
mused
to himself.
Kagome herself was still at school, thank kami, because he did not
want
anyone to know that he was spending any time around the Higurashi's
property. Sesshomaru would not be please, and he knew none of his
friends
could understand the fixation he had on her, not even Kurama.
Leaping off
the tree, for the privacy of some greenery, Hiei rushed towards the
well,
careful to hide his scent.

Breathless from running, in vain to catch the train back home,
Kagome put

her hands on her legs and tried to slow her breathing. "Mou..." sighing
under
her breath Kagome heaved back up, and began her trek back home.
Late
again! Mama will not forgive me this time... idling wondering how long
it
would take to aid her mother in some task that would serve as
punishment
for her being late so many times... she felt an aura she could
recognize a
mile away. Ohh I wonder how long he's been waiting. As Kagome
turned the
corner and saw that familiar baseball cap she had grown fond of, she
quickly
met up with him. "Hey! Come to walk me home, have you?"

"Keh, I had a feeling that you would be late, again."

Trying as best as she could to hide her irritation at his smug tone, and
focusing on the fact that he surprised her by showing up, Kagome
grinned
and replied, "Yah, my studies aren't getting any easier, thanks to
being
"sick" so long...sometimes I think I should take about a week or so off
and
really get my school work into some order-"

"Fat chance." Inu Yasha broke in, "we have just gotten those two
shards,
why take time off now?"

Taking the time to decide how she would put her school progress, or
lack
there of, in order, she immediately thought back to her mom, "Okay
Inu
Yasha, let's talk about this later. I want to get home fast to help
celebrate
Sota's birthday, I haven't been there to help prepare for it, but at least
I got
him a great please-forgive-me-for-being-a-lousy-sister gift. So that
should
work in my favor...onegai"

"Hai, come on jump on, my head is over heated with this "cap" on my

head.", Inu Yasha grunted. Easily lifting Kagome onto his back, in an
alley,
ready to get some distance between him and the city hustle.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Mama!!!" Kagome sang, "sorry about being late! School has been
keeping
me so busy..."
"Onee-san! This is the third time you've been late...makes me think
you
don't care about your sweet, considerate younger brother." Sota
teased as
Kagome swept into the room.
"Ohh, jeez Sota, sometimes you can really be-"
"Kagome! Glad you made it, just in time too! I was just about to serve
dinner." Kagome's mom interrupted, as soon as she saw her daughter
walk
through the door. "Also, when we're done, you can help Jii-chan dust
out
those cabinets in the store house..."
"Aww, mama... come on."
"Whining will not help you get out of this one, darling." Mrs. Higurashi
chimed," now come, dinner is ready."
Inu Yasha snickered in the background, while helping himself to some
of
Mama Higurashi cooking, and settled in for a delayed departure.
~~~~~~~~~~~
"Sometimes I forget how tedious it can be to dust...all those shelves,
and
knobs." Kagome shuddered just remembering back to the hours
previous.
"Well as fun as that was, ready to get back, Inu Yasha?"

"Feh, took you long enough, good thing Sota has those vee-di-oh
games, or
else-"

"Yah, yah, I get it. Now let's go, before I change my mind and really

decide
to stay here for a week." Kagome threatened right before Inu Yasha
grumbled and put her over his back and leapt forward into the past.

As they returned, Inu Yasha immediately tensed, as if a fight was in
the near
future and let Kagome fall down to the bottom of the well and shot up
circling the area. Irritated by the sudden drop, Kagome huffed to get
the
super loaded pack on her back and go give Inu Yasha a piece of her
mind
when he suddenly landed back in the well. "INU-Yasha!! What was
that?
Couldn't you have at least had the decency to let me know when your
going
to "gently" let go of me?"

Still seemingly alert to any sudden shifts in the forest Inu Yasha was
not
paying attention to her rant, and swooshed her up and jumped out of
the
Bone Eaters Well. "Kah! Inu Yasha, you almost dropped me!"

He readjusted her while still trying to get a handle on something
"Mmm...oops!" He readjusted her swiftly and hauled out towards the
village.

"What was it? What did you smell? Hello, am I talking to myself?"
Kagome
was still grumbling and starting to really get annoyed," I didn't sense
anything... so what has you all para-"

"I caught smell of a youkai left a few hours ago, fire, ice...I can't really
tell,
maybe both, but I don't think..." He was half mumbling to himself, and
she
knew it.

"Fine, if it's not here, then let me down, I think you bruised my butt."
Quite
put out by his abrupt release just a few minutes ago, Kagome,
squirmed out
of his arms and began walking next to him with a slight limp. "Jerk"
she

muttered a few minutes after.

"Well at least give me the pack, does that make up for it?"

"No, but take it anyway."

The banter continued all the way into to village, but this time in good
humor.
As they were crossing the bridge Kagome looked back, sensing
someone
watching her. Looking into the trees, a shiver ran down her back, but
still
she saw nothing. Turning away, she shook off the feeling, but if she
had
turned back again, she would have seen the shine of crimson eyes,
watching
her every step.
