Secret Mate

Chapter 3

Kagome woke up with the worst headache that she could have possibly imagined. She hurt all over her body, and her swelling cheek was throbbing with jolts of pain every few seconds. She could fell the bruises on her skin where she was hit repeatedly by the guards and her captor.

She remembered being brought into this dungeon with chains that canceled her miko powers. She was thrown onto the floor while she twisted and struggled. She had then received her wounds that were now on her body. The punch to her cheek came later when she was finally tied down and her capture, the stupid demon behind all of this, told her that she was bait to Yoko. Well, she had news for that demon. She sprouted out as many curse words that she has learned, many of them were from Inuyasha, and told him off. She was going to get out of here, and she was going to enjoy purifying him into hell! That was when he punched her and she saw no more.

Looking around her she noticed that there was not much to look for. The dungeon was nothing special. There was a metal cage door in front of her and beyond that was a wooden door. That door must lead to the rest of this stink hole. Besides that her chains were held up to a post of some kind far above her head, making her stand up. But she was wondering when she was forced to stand up? When she was knocked out she could remember being on the floor… They must have moved me, but why? She didn't know. Her only guess could be that the demon holding her hostage wasn't as stupid as she thought. He obviously didn't want her escaping.

Well, that is a duh! Kagome thought. Kagome did not know how long she was there, but she knew that she was waiting for a good two hours before she heard the sounds of soft footsteps walking toward her cell. Soon after she heard a key unlocking the wooden door before it was pulled out and the door finally opened.

A young looking demon stepped through the threshold of the door way with an air about of him of supreme confidence and arrogance. This demon was obviously over-confident and stuck-up. This was no surprise to her though. It was obvious that this demon did not know whom he was dealing with. He must not know who she or her mate was if he was trying to use her to kill her mate, her Kurama.

The demon himself was not all that bad looking, nothing compared to her own mate, but not ugly by all means. He had dark hair and a physique that screamed dangerous.

“What do you want?” Kagome asked.

“What is your name?” He asked, not answering her first question.

Kagome did not answer. She stared at him as if he was crazy. It was a comfort to her that she was not known by her name. At least she didn't have to worry about any unwanted demons coming here to kill her because of an old grudge from five hundred years ago. That as least was not going to happen; she could only hope.

The demon chuckled a little at her silence. “I see. You are just as stubborn as your mate is. But it matters little now. You have but two hours to live. I expect to see your mate in just a few minutes. Is there anything that you would like to say to him before you both die?”

“Yeah, I think that you are going to get your ass kicked. But not necessarily by my mate!”

The look on his face was priceless. It would seem that he was waiting for her to start begging for her life when in all actuality she was just pissing him off. He rushed forward, slammed open her cell, and backhanded her across the face. Kagome couldn't help it when she cried out in pain at the blow to her face, at the same exact spot that he hit her before. Her head was forced back because of the blow. She winced again before she glanced at the seething demon before her.

“I will kill him, and when I do you are going to be next.” He growled again before he disappeared out the wooden door. He did not close the cell door in his haste nor did she hear the sound of the door locking.

“Ha, about time. I hope you get here soon my mate.”

She tried to raise her miko powers only for them to not come out. She pushed her power levels out again and forced them higher and higher than before. Suddenly, she felt like she was being electrocuted. She screamed out in pain, going limp. She hung against the only things that were keeping her upright.

I guess that these chains are better than I had anticipated. Kurama, help me!

Kagome stood limply locked in the chains for twenty minutes before she sensed at least five auras coming to her location, wherever that was. Wow. Just because her powers were locked away doesn't mean that she couldn't still use her miko senses. Ha, she couldn't purify, but she could still sense. Okay that was even sounded lame to even her.

Four of them were coming from the general area that the human world was. Those four had to be her mate and his friends. The other one, however, was coming from the west.

Sesshomaru? What is he doing? Kagome thought. He's bookin' it.

She closed her eyes and waited for whoever came for her first.

“You did what!” Koenma yelled, the sound of his voice echoed throughout the palace.

“She's your mate?” Yusuke shouted.

“We have been mated for several months now. But you are not worthy of her presence.” Yoko said. He turned and started to exit the office. His energy was curling around him in anger.

“Where are you going, Yoko?” Koenma demanded.

Yoko turned a little and sneered. “Do not presume to tell me what to do. If you continue to do so then nothing can save you from my wrath.” He said this in the deadliest and coldest voice that anyone had ever heard. If Kagome had been there she would have said that he had been taking lessons from Sesshomaru in threats, but she knew that was untrue. They had never met before.

He turned and left with Hiei following. Yusuke and Kuwabara hesitated for but a moment and ran after the fuming kitsune and fire apparition. Koenma was left in his office with a look of fear and confusion on his face. He fell back in his seat with a sign. His hand fell on his heart to calm it of the almost heart attack that he had just experienced.

“Yoko, what is going on?” Yusuke asked as he ran after him.

“Yes, fox I think it is time that you tell us what is going on.” Hiei demanded. He of all demons knew that he was not going to get anything out of Yoko Kurama unless Yoko wanted to speak. He was hoping that he might be able ask Yoko without getting killed due to the fact that he was a friend.

Yoko sighed inwardly. He didn't want to get into this right now.

Let me out. I will explain in your stead. Kurama's voice rang out in his head. You can have control back when we get to our mate.

Yoko stopped, causing Yusuke to almost run into him. His energy changed to a more bearable level, and it also changed into a more easy going energy as well. Kurama was coming back out.

“Yusuke, she has been my mate for seven months. We dated for several months before that. The reason that I didn't tell anyone was number one I knew that Koenma would try to break us up. He doesn't want Yoko to have a mate. It is too dangerous. The second reason is because no one can find out that we have a mate because something like this would happen!”

“I know that you don't want her hurt, but why didn't you tell us about her? We could have helped you protect her.” Kuwabara asked.

“Only someone who knows about her powers can possibly subdue Kagome. She is not the kind of miko that you want to piss off.”

“Then how did someone find out about her?” Hiei asked. “It is obvious someone got around your protection. Someone with enough power to even be better than I. You've been hiding her from even me.”

“I am sorry, Hiei. Yoko and I didn't want her to be found by anyone. Not even you. But what we can't figure out is who found out.” Kurama said.

“Well, I don't know, but I'm ready to kick some ass! This guy is even stupider than Kuwabara. I mean he is going after three S class demons!”

“I can't ask you three to come with me.” Kurama said.

“That's the beauty of it! You don't have to!” Yusuke laughed as he put his arm around his best friend.

“Yeah, we have to go protect the pretty lady.” Kuwabara agreed. The group looked to Hiei to see what he would do. He looked at them with an expressionless face. He looked on in disinterest.

“Huh.” He snorted and walked to the breach in the worlds, the one that connected the Human world and the Demon world.

Kurama smirked. He was going to go get his mate, the woman who owned his heart. And he was going to enjoy ripping the demon that dared take her from him to little bitty pieces. His plants were going to enjoy this.

Several hours later the four friends were closing in on Kagome's location. Yoko was back out, using his mark on her to locate Kagome, and still furious. He was fuming mad. He wanted his mate in his arms, and he wanted her in his arms as in five minutes ago. As he was getting closer to Kagome's location he was sensing a very powerful demonic aura rapidly approaching his mates position.

He was minutes away from her, he could feel it, but this demon was closer. He was going to be upon her in seconds.

Kagome waited…and waited….and waited! She was so sick of waiting! Two hours had almost passed. She was getting closer to killing the stupid demon that was after her mate. Now Kagome was never one for violence, but in this case she was willing to make an exception. No one tried to kill her mate and get away with it.

Oh, Sesshomaru is here. Kagome thought. She then started counting.

One thousand an one, one thousand and two, one thousand and three….

When Kagome finally reached one thousand and thirty-eight she felt the energy level of the demon that had captured her disappear.

Show off. He must of used his poison. That jerk. I was going to kill him.

Moments later he walked into the room.

“You jerk!” She shouted as he started to unchain her.

He just glared. When she was free she smacked him on the arm, hard. “Why didn't you save me first! I wanted to kill him. I kill minions, and you kill the big evil guy! This is so unfair!”

And this was just the perfect time for the Yu-Yu Hakusho gang to burst in.

“You are such a jerk!” Kagome shouted just as Yoko pulled her into his arms from behind. She was so mad that she didn't even notice her mate and his friends come in behind her. Nor did she notice the dark growl coming out of her mate's throat in a clear warning to the demon lord standing before her. When she felt his arms around her she automatically turned to embrace him. When she saw the white hair and adorable ears she knew that it was Yoko in charge.

“Yoko! How was your day?”

“How badly are you hurt?” Yoko demanded as he started to sniff her.

“Nothing that I can't heal. How did you find me?”

“Your mark.”

“Yeah, that and a ransom demand.” Yusuke said. “But when I think about it, it wasn't really a ransom demand.”

“Thank you Yusuke for finding him. I don't know what I would have done without you. Or any of the rest of you. Especially you Kuwabara. You of all I respect.”

“Really? Yeah, hear that Urameshi. I'm special too!”

“Kagome,” Sesshomaru began.

“Yeah, I know. I'm going. I'll see you in a bit.” Kagome said as she turned to him.

“Yeah, who the hell are you?” Yusuke demanded.

“He's just the jerk that killed my minion. Stupid jerk.” She turned and started to walk away from them all, moving toward the exit. Yoko followed, wrapping his arm around her waist.

“I'm fine, Yoko. I'm just a little bruised, not going to keel over and die.”

“Where are you going, fox?” Hiei asked, but it sounded like a demand.

“Stay out of my business.” Yoko said. He looked down when he felt a bunch on his shoulder.

“Stop being so mean! They're your friends!” Yoko just blinked at her.

“Whoa! I can't believe that she got away with that.” Kuwabara said.

“Yeah, I know. My world has turned upside down.” Yusuke said.

“I have stuff to make dinner at home. I am starving! Are you hungry?”

“I am, but not for food.” Yoko said as they left.

Seconds later Sesshomaru left as well.

Kuwabara and Yusuke just stared and then looked at each other.

“Did we just hear that coming from Yoko?”

“Huh, morons. He is a fox demon; they have an insatiable appetite.” Hiei mocked with sarcasm.
