Chapter 9 The Mall and Tenmei

 

When Hiei got home he couldn't sleep. `Damn girl, why do I keep thinking about her? It's not like I care for her, I don't care for anyone. Why the hell am I even asking myself these questions?!' Hiei thought getting frustrated.

`

I'm back!' An annoying voice in Hiei's head said.

 

`What do you want?' Hiei asked his annoying conscience.

 

`I'm here to answer your questions.'

 

`Oh really, last time I checked you only make things worse.'

 

`Well, that's beside the point. I know why you can't stop thinking about Kagome.'

 

`Why is that?'

 

`Because you, my friend, have a crush on her.'

 

`Don't you wish, see you're just trouble. Now, goodbye.' Hiei thought as he shoved his conscience into a small little room and locked the door.

 

`I will be back.' Hiei heard the muffled voice say in the back of his mind.

 

With that done Hiei started to drift off into a dream filled sleep.

 

*+*+*+*+*+*+*With Kagome Sort Of*+*+*+*+*+*+*

 

Rin searched through the house frantically, she couldn't find Dei or Naito. Rin finally gave up looking and ran straight to Sesshomaru. When she got there she swung open the doors and started to pace and talk a million miles a second. Sesshomaru couldn't help but chuckle at his distressed mate, he knew where the pups were from when he checked on them this mourning and found them gone.

 

“How the hell can you be so calm, and for that matter, laughing, Sesshomaru?!” Rin yelled at him. Sesshomaru got out of his seat and walked over to Rin. He got right in front of her and kissed her, effectively shutting her up.

 

“Follow me, my love.” Sesshomaru said after he broke the kiss. They walked down the hallway until they got to Kagome's door.

 

“What are we doing here?” Rin asked but only got shushed by her mate. He then opened the door revealing Kagome and their pups cuddled up sleeping. Rin let out a sigh of relief, and then let a smile come across her face. Rin then shut the door and said. “Good, they're safe, but I want to know why Kagome doesn't have her own kids? So that way she can cuddle up with them. Plus, I want nieces and nephews, too!” Rin complained making Sesshomaru laugh a little.

 

“Well, you can ask her that when you go and get your hair done. She should be getting a wake up call from Jaken soon, so why don't we go and wait for her and the pups in the kitchen.” Sesshomaru offered.

 

Not even five minutes later they heard Kagome and the pups scream bloody murder and then Kagome shouting. “YOU ARE SUCH A DEAD FUCKING TOAD, JAKEN!!!” Kagome yelled. Then about half a second later they heard Jaken scream and Kagome's and the pups' battle cries.

 

After about three minutes Kagome came down, carrying Jaken look, and looking extremely pissed and half asleep not to mention sopping wet with the pups at her heels. “WHO'S MOTHER FUCKING IDEA WAS IT TO SEND JAKEN IN TO WAKE ME UP!!!” Kagome all but yelled throwing Jaken into the wall with a sickening crashing sound, meaning there was now a hole in the wall.

 

Sesshomaru and Rin just looked amused, sure they were mad at Kagome for cursing in front of their pups, but hey they thought it was too damn funny even if one hid it better than the other. “I sent Jaken into wake you up.” Sesshomaru said, while Kagome started to calm down.

 

“You could have just asked me to set my alarm clock.” Kagome said icily, now fully awake and in control of her emotions.

 

“Where would the fun be in that?” Sesshomaru asked in a sarcastic tone.

 

“It might not be fun but, it will get the job done.” Kagome said while glaring daggers at her `big brother.'

 

“You might want to hurry up and eat Kagome, because we are leaving for the mall in thirty minutes.” Rin said breaking up the fight that was sure to follow. They might not fight often but when they did watch out.

“Rin?” Kagome asked.

 

“What now Kagome?” Rin asked.

 

“I don't want to cut my hair.” Kagome said in a bored tone.

 

“Well, too bad I got you off the hook with Sesshomaru, so now you have to get your hair cut.” Rin said in an agitated voice.

 

“Why what's wrong with how my hair is now?”

 

“Because your hair is too long.” Rin said in an exasperated tone, because of having to go over it a hundred times.

 

“Sesshomaru's hair is long and you don't make him cut it.”

 

“It's because I like his hair long yours doesn't look right long. Finally we're here!”

 

When Kagome was finally done getting her hair done she had her hair now a little past her shoulders, maybe an inch long, layered, and framing her face. It really looked a lot better on her. She also walked out with a couple of phone numbers as compliments, from all the guys that didn't have girlfriends. “Kagome throw those numbers away.” Rin demanded.

 

“Why?” Kagome asked, even if she had no intention of keeping them, she wanted to see what Rin would say.

 

“They're humans, even if anything was to spark between you and one of those guys, they probably wouldn't take too well with you being a demon. Plus, if it did work out you would live out live all of them.” Rin said.

 

“Well, I could always turn them into a demon too.” Kagome said.

 

“What?” Rin shrieked while her glamour spell started to slip and some of her markings appeared. She seemed to notice and then calmed down. “Why can't you just find a nice demon to have pups with? Or maybe that fire/ice apparition, what was his name, Hiei?” Rin said. When Kagome heard the last part of what she said she got a murderous glint in her eyes.

 

“Rin.” Kagome said in a low voice that meant, `You had better run.'

 

*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*With Spirit Detectives and Koenma*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

 

“Damn, damn, damn!” Koenma cursed while pacing on the desk and kicking papers off. Well, that's all the Spirit Detectives saw when they had came in.

 

“What do you want now toddler?” Yusuke asked.

 

“FOR THE LAST DAMN TIME, I'M NOT A TODDLER!!!” Koenma all but yelled. “But right now we have a more serious problem.” He said while calming down. “I have just found out this Naraku person has killed ten youkai and seven humans. We need to get Kagome here right now. I don't care how you do it and I don't care how pissed she is, or if the demon council suspends me. Just get her here!” Koenma said.

 

With that said the Spirit Detectives walked through the portal Botan had made. “So what do we do now?” Yusuke asked.

 

“We go and get the girl.” Kuwabara said.

 

“No dip, idiot, but if those demons are still with her we don't have a chance on nabbing her, I mean one was the king of Makai and the other one is his mate.” Yusuke said.

 

“We could always have Hiei go look and see if they are still with her.” Kurama said getting a glare from Hiei himself.

 

“Why do I have to fox?” Hiei asked.

 

“Because you are faster than everyone else, and you know where she lives.” Kurama said.

 

“I agree with Kurama.” Yusuke said.

 

“I agree too.” Kuwabara said. “So it looks like your going, Shorty.” Kuwabara said pissing Hiei off.

 

“Is that so?” Hiei asked dangerously.

 

“Yup.” Kuwabara stated, not even a half a second later there was a `thud' sound, it was Kuwabara hitting the ground, out like a log. Yusuke looked around but Hiei was no where to be found.

 

“I swear when I get my hands on him, he'll be headless.” Yusuke mumbled. They were going to need all of them to get Kagome and he had to go and knock Kuwabara out, just the kind of luck we didn't need.

When I arrived at the two older demon's house I saw a pack of demon dogs and a fire cat playing with the same two children from before and Kagome included. From what it looked like, they must have been playing tag, and Kagome was it.

 

`See, she's good with children, and children love her. She would make a perfect make.' Hiei's conscience stated.

 

`Yeah, she is…….WAIT A MINUTE!!! HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET OUT, AND WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!!!' I thought.

 

`*Laughs Evilly* I always will come back, and I said she was good with children?'

 

`No after that.'

 

`Um…oh, children love her?'

 

`No, after that, what did you say?' I thought getting frustrated.

 

`Oh, I said that she would make for a good mate…well, she would I mean look how gentle she is with the pups that aren't even hers.'

 

`What? Ah, hell no, I can't have a mate.'

 

`Why not? We can't be alone forever you know?'

 

`Because I'm a forbidden child.'

 

`SO!!! She is too! We're perfect for her.'

 

`No, we aren't perfect for her, plus if I do get a mate and have pups they will be forbidden too.' I thought getting really annoyed at my own conscience.

 

`That's why you will be there to protect them. You won't just have any mate. You should and WILL have Kagome as a mate.'

 

`What makes you think I want to mate with that stupid girl anyways?'

 

`Because, stupid, I'm you, I know how you feel about her, even if you won't admit it!'

 

`I'm tired of this conversation, now you better leave before I make you.' I thought while mentally staring down my conscience. But I ended up looking it in a box with a million locks and no air holes.

 

I must have been fighting with my conscience for a while, because they had stopped playing tag. Now, the pups were standing with their parents at the door to the home and Kagome told them their goodbyes as she left with the pack of demon dogs and the fire cat on her shoulder. `How long was I out of it?' I wondered, but I didn't have long to think about it.

 

~Hiei ~ Kurama entered.

 

~Hn, what do you want fox? ~ I thought

 

~I have been trying to get a hold of you for ten minutes. Where have you been? ~

 

~Hn, I have been watching Kagome, waiting for her to go home. ~ I thought, it was partially true.

 

~Okay well what's going on now? ~

 

~Well, Kagome's leaving right now. I'll follow her and then I'll give you the directions to her house. ~

 

~Okay, be careful out there. ~

 

~Hn. ~ Then he ended the link.

Kagome had gone straight home and went inside the house. Seeing this Hiei had told Kurama how to get there and then waited for the rest of the team to arrive. It took twenty minutes for the rest of the Spirit Detectives to arrive. When they got there they made a plan on how to get Kagome. Hiei had filled them in on what he had seen. They decided they would go through the back woods. When they got to the back yard they heard a whole bunch of growls, when they looked towards the house they saw the pack of demon dogs and fire cat that Hiei had seen earlier.

 

A big white dog gave a sharp bark, making a littler pup run inside through the doggie door. As the Spirit Detectives moved closer the dogs' and the fire cat's growls grew louder. When Kagome got outside with the little pup at her heels, she was shocked to see the Spirit Detectives were there, but now they knew where she lived. “Enough.” Kagome said making the dogs and the fire cat come over to her and sit down obediently. “What do you want?” Kagome asked coldly.

 

“We are here to take you to Koenma.” Kurama said sweetly.

 

“I see but we already settled that, I would see him when I had time.” Kagome said narrowing her eyes.

 

“Yes, you are correct but he has requested your presence concerning urgent business.” Kurama said not wanting to resort to violence.

 

“What is so important that he sent you to come get me?”

 

“He has information concerning Naraku. That is what he would like to see you about.” Kurama stated.

 

“And if you don't some willingly, Koenma has given us permission to take you by force.” Hiei's voice was convicted for a little of malice in his voice.

 

The pack of dogs and the cat got back into the protective stance in front of Kagome. “That is not necessary.” Kagome said narrowing her eyes at Hiei. “I will come of my own free will.” Kagome said going back into her house. While she was gone one of the large females went over to the Detectives and went and smelled Hiei. She looked up at him and then went back to the pack and said something to the large white male dog, from before. The other Detectives looked back at Hiei, and he gave them a look that said, `Don't look at me. I don't even know what's going on.' Finally Kagome came out a few minutes later dressed in a pair of blue jeans, a black, form fitting, T-shirt that said, `Does it look like I care?' With that they went through a portal to Reikai.

 

*+*+*+*+*+*+*With Koenma, Kagome, and the Gang*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*

 

When the group of five stepped out of the portal and into Koenma's office, they saw ogres running everywhere and Koenma cursing profoundly and doing paper work. He looked up and saw the gang staring down at him. “It's about damn time you got here we have a real problem, Naraku has just gone on a killing spree and killed thirty more people!!!” Koenma yelled over the noise of the ogres running around everywhere and papers flying around.

 

“What the hell do you mean he has killed thirty more people? Where is he? Tell me now, toddler!!” Kagome yelled.

 

“I will give you the information right away.” Koenma said not wanting to get on Kagome's bad side at the moment, knowing how she got when it came to Naraku. “Everyone out!” Koenma yelled and the ogres stopped what they were doing and quickly left the giant room. “Okay, here's what happened, Naraku attacked a school close by a shrine owned by a family.” Fear ran through Kagome as he said that. Then the pictures of her family popped up onto the screen.

 

All Kagome heard was “Blah, blah, blah, trying to torture Kagome blah, blah, blah.” Everyone seemed to notice Kagome's zoned out state after Koenma was done talking.

 

“Kagome are you okay? Kagome? Kagome?” Kurama asked but none of this had gotten through to her instead she was busy with memories.

 

`My mom had gotten remarried and had another kid a year before I became a demon. My new half sister's name was Tenmei, she looked must like mom and adored being held and sang to. Apparently she really liked me and became attached to me. I don't really know how because I was gone in the past so much, maybe it was because, I would spend so much time with her when I was home. My mom and step-dad said she would cry every time I left to go hunt for the jewel shards and she would also be upset. I had brushed it off until one day when I stopped by, it had to of been three months after I became a demon and returned to my time.' Kagome thought.

I was watching Tenmei from a tree in the shadows while my mom ran inside. She was now a year and a couple of months old. Shockingly she was really good at talking and fast at running too. It was hard to catch her sometimes. I felt a demon aura, it was coming towards me at a fast pace, I didn't even have time to see it fly by and pick Tenmei up. I cursed inwardly for getting so caught up in what my little sister was doing. I took off after the youkai that dared try and hurt my family, when I got it in my sights I jumped out of the tree and grabbed Tenmei out of its grasp and landed softly on the ground.

 

She was balling her eyes out but I didn't have time to comfort her, because what I know recognized as a bat demon, came diving at us. I held onto Tenmei while sending a fire ball at the demon. It dodged but its wing got burned a little and it flew away, but I knew it would be back. `I have to find a place to hide Tenmei, and I have to calm her down too or the demon will find her.' I thought looking at the wailing baby in my arms.

 

“Shh, calm down its okay.” I cooed, it took her a minute but when she opened her eyes and looked at me she instantly stopped crying. I then looked around for a place to hide her. I found a big tree where there was a gap between the roots and the ground that she would fit into it perfectly and not be seen. I set her down and put a barrier around her incase a weaker demon came by they wouldn't find her.

 

Just as I got done putting up the barrier, the bat demon came diving at me. “Shit!” I cursed knowing the demon would find her if I didn't get him away from where I hid her. It took me a minute but I took off succeeding in getting about, three yards away from Tenmei's hiding place. Feeling it wouldn't notice her I started to fight. The bat demon would dive at me with its claws extended and I would dodge every time, well I was getting tired of playing and I could tell the demon was tired and frustrated. I tapped into my ice powers and readied to send a whole bunch of little pointy ice shards at it to kill it when that silly baby come out of the hiding place I put in her.

 

I don't know how she broke the barrier I put around her, I mean it wasn't strong but a human should not have been able to break it, but I was about to find out how wrong I was about her. The bat demon saw her and lunged at her, I immediately got in front of her making the bat demon's claws go strait through my left shoulder. I was pissed now that I just used my claws and tore the stupid thing to shreds.

 

I was pissed off at Tenmei and she seemed to be able to tell too, because the moment I picked her up she started to pout, but quickly seemed distracted with my wound. She touched it I growled at her and she seemed to be scared, but only a little, and then laughed anyways. I couldn't believe what I was seeing this kid was laughing at a demon and me none the less after I growled at her, but soon after she stopped laughing and got a serious look on her face, if that is even possible for a child. She placed her hand back on my wound even if it was bleeding and even after I growled at her she kept it there. I thought she had lost it until her hand started to glow a light blue color, and my wound heeled up almost right away.

 

I was shocked but none the less flashed a grin making sure she saw my fangs. She threw her arms around my neck and said, “Komay!” This was as close to my name as she could say. On our walk back I played with her and she touched the two tattoos I had, trying to figure out if she liked them, I guess, but in the end she was happy either way. When I got her home my mom was franticly looking for Tenmei, so I set her down from behind the god tree and pushed her towards our mother's turned back. She immediately ran towards my mom saying my name. I took my mom a minute to compose her self and figure out what she was saying, but when she did she went over to the god tree and looked for me, but I was way to high up in the branches so she couldn't see me.

`I still don't know how she remembers me or was even able to recognize me but, what amazed me most was that she had miko powers.' I thought but was pulled out of them suddenly when I heard someone yell at me. “Kagome did you even hear a word I said?” Koenma asked. I shook my head `no.' Koenma got an agitated look on his face but repeated what he said none the less. “I said we believe he is after your little sister, and just stopped to kill some people for fun. Your sister is a miko right?” Koenma asked.

 

“Yes, she is but what would Naraku want with her?” I asked starting to fidget. `I really need to get out of here to see if their okay.' I thought getting stressed out, and I usually never get stressed anymore. Well apparently while I became stressed out my powers flared making the room scorching hot one minute then freezing cold the next. That was till my cocky little fire demon, Hiei got my attention. `Where the hell did that come from? He's not mine and I don't want him.' I thought.

 

“Koenma as much as I love to hear you talk I don't have time for this.” I said in an icy tone. “If you didn't remember, Naraku is still on the lose and killing humans as we speak, and you had better hope my family has not been harmed, because if they have, no one will be able to save you.” I said glaring at him I could see him visibly swallow.

 

“O-o-okay…B-botan open up a portal to Kagome's family's house.” Koenma stuttered. “And I want you guys to go with her.” Koenma ordered just before the portal opened.

 

When I stepped through I couldn't believe what I was seeing…

Author's Notes: I'm so sorry that it's been so long I've just been busy and I got a new job and I never have anytime for homework and today at work I spilled everything broke 3 things and then got two soup showers. I was a comedian act at my work to all of the customers. I didn't think it was very funny…actually it's very funny. And at school I have a guy that is basically obsessed with me and won't leave me alone and when I try to talk to someone else he thinks I'm wanting to talk to him. It's pissing me off! Then when me and a friend made plans to eat after school to catch up he invited himself. He has a cousin that he takes home everyday and the poor girl has to sit in the cold and wait for him to quite globing all over me! Again I am very sorry for the late update but I tried to warn you.
