AN: Thanks again to everyone who has reviewed my first two chapters so far. Once again I encourage all reviewers and yes even flamers, to tell me what you think without trying to spare my feelings too much. If you know a way to make this better then don't hesitate to tell me. I would like to apologize to one reviewer. I am sorry that there were so many spelling mistakes in the last chappy. I do not have spell check and it is hard for me to catch all of my mistakes on my own. Sometimes I am writting too fast to notice or when I proofread I over-look it. I am very sorry but I am trying to improve. I would also like to ask this reviewer what they think is so off about the characters so that I may understand where they are coming from and try and avoid the same mistake in the future.

Well enough about me here's some more of the story.

Disclaimer: "I do own InuYasha and YuYu Hakusho" (laughs diabolically): F.B.I. busts in the front door and surrounds me with guns drawn. "I'll never let them go" :: AgentX runs out from a back room, "Sir she's got Hiei and Sesshomaru chained to a wall in the back." "Well get them out of here." "No!!!! We won't leave Dark Miko, you can't make us.”F.B.I. tries to drag them away: "Thank God for Stockholm Syndrome." (MUhhahhahahhahah)

Just joking I don't own either InuYasha or YuYu Hakusho. (weeps softly)

Chapter 3

LET ME IN.

The Next Day~Sakura High School

With Kagome

'Ah, what a perfectly beautiful, normal day. It makes me sick.' Kagome sighed from way up in the branches of her favorite tree outside her school. 'Schools just peachy too. The birds are chirping, and the preppy girls are chirping too. I wonder if it be wrong to take out a few birds and maybe a few preps too. Nah I'd miss the birds. A normal day at high school for a normal Kagome Higurashi. Yeah right when have I been normal in the last couple of years?!!'

'These people just don't know how lucky they are to not know about the demons that are around them every day. Like the two that are coming up right now. Wait a minute hold the damn phone.....two demons approaching my school right now. Damn it I just got comfortable in my favorite tree. Guess I better let them know that I'm watching them. I swear I'll skin them alive if they make one wrong move'

Grumbling, Kagome swiftly sat up and jumped out of the branches of her favorite Sakura tree. Smirking lightly she growled at the preppy girls that were casually leaning against her tree and chuckled lightly as they scampered to stand a few feet away. She knew that most of the people in her school were scared of her and she liked that just fine. If everyone were frightened then no one would try and get close to her. If nobody got close there would be nobody there when the demons came after the jewel again, and come they would.

Kagome was under no illusions where her own personal safety was concerned. She knew that demons would come for her constantly until she found a way to destroy the jewel, and they would probably come after that because of her power. She knew that she would die one day, but not any time within the next millennium.

This was one of the reasons that she had started training Shippou as early as she had. She had known that at the time Shippou would not be able to count on InuYasha for protection if she died. Miroku and Sango would have tried to protect the kit but they had only been human. Many demons had come for Shippou knowing that he was the kit of the guardian of the Shikon no Tama. So with these thoughts in mind Kagome had personally trained Shippou until he was as powerful as InuYasha.

She had trained Shippou to his fullest extent and since he now carried her blood due to the adoption ritual that they had undergone, Shippou's potential was great. He had mastered the art of kitsune magic and the manipulation of plants better than any demon they had come across over twice his age. Even though he was still a child Shippou was able to take care of most demons that he come across, and as time went on and he continued to grow, and so would his powers. But no matter how powerful he was he was still a child and he needed a mother. Kagome vowed she would always be there for him.

Deciding that a small show of power was all that would be needed to scare away or at least warn the two approaching demons of her whereabouts she marginally dropped the spell that concealed her aura from detection. She would see just how brave these two were in the face of one as powerful as her.

With Yusuke, Kurama, Botan, and Hiei.

"Hey you guys do ya'll feel that?"

"What is it that you feel Yusuke?" Botan asked the spirit detective.

"Well you know that ever since I inherited Kuwabara's spirit awareness I can sense auras right?"

"Of course." Botan

"Well I sense this massive aura up ahead."

"Is it evil Yusuke?" Questioned a concerned Kurama

"Surprisingly no. Its more like its warning us away from the area, not really threatening us or anything." Yusuke replied.

"Could it be the one that Koenma-sama told us about. Hiei can you sense anything? My senses are not strong enough in this form." Kurama asked turning to the smaller fire apparition.

"Hn. Yes I can sense this person. It's defiantly female and it's probably the person the toddler told us about." Hiei replied.

"How strong is this aura, Yusuke?" Botan questioned him timidly.

Yusuke widened his spirit awareness powers slightly and scanned the area to try and get a handle on just how strong this aura really was. What he sensed amazed even him.

Turning to the rest of the group Yusuke whispered in awe, "Its bigger than anything I've ever sensed before. Its massive and for some reason it seems like most of or all of its power is being withheld. I'm pretty sure that this is just a taste of what's to come."

"Well let's go and see where it's coming from shall we?" Kurama offered.

"Bingo. Great idea Kurama." Botan commented smiling.

<Keep it in your pants fox.> Hiei sent to Kurama telepathically.

Blushing slightly Kurama decided to ignore Hiei's comment until a time that he could get him back.

"Well guys lets go find this Kagome that Koenma told us about and see if she will come and fight with us." With that Yusuke turned away intent on finding the person who would try and take the place of Kuwabara the one who had died to save them all.

No one noticed the slight figure of a girl all dressed in black slip away into the building as the bell rung. Also no one noticed the air of power that clung to her like a second skin.

Later That Day~Advanced History Class~Hiei and Kurama

Hiei was bored, extremely bored. Here he was stuck in this stupid ningen school in some history class with the fox when he'd much rather be in Makai killing something right about now. Hiei hated being indoors almost as bad as he hated taking orders from someone who was even shorter than he was.

Not that he'd ever admit how sensitive he was about his height.

Sitting in his desk listening to the teacher lecture incorrectly about things that he himself had lived through, Hiei allowed himself the indulgence of letting his mind wonder. He briefly remembered the reason why he found himself sitting in this particular classroom instead of off killing lesser demons in Makai.

*~Flashback~*

"Well Kurama, Hiei, Yusuke you know that the Dark Tournament is coming up and since Kuwabara is no longer with us we need to find a fourth and fifth member for the team."

"Have anyone in mind pacifier breath?" Yusuke grumbled.

"Well actually I do. All you four have to do is persuade them to join us. Now their names are Kagome Higurashi and Shippou Higurashi."

"A girl Koenma-sama?" Kurama questioned.

"Yes Kurama a girl, but not just any ordinary girl either. This girl is very special." Koenma answered.

"Just what exactly do you mean by special toddler?" Yusuke asked curiously.

"This female is extremely powerful. She is even more powerful than Toguro and Genki put together Yusuke. She makes them two look like kindergarteners."

"That's impossible! If there was anyone that powerful you would have blackmailed them into working for you long ago." Yusuke yelled.

"I resent that Yusuke but I'll let it slide. Now the reason that I have not been able to persuade Higurashi to join my team of spirit detectives is because she has had her own mission to attend to. I'm sure that you Hiei and you Kurama are familiar with the story of the Shikon no Tama."

"Hn."

"Of course"

"Well this young lady is the guardian of the jewel and also happens to do another job for me and my office even though she has not reported to me in over a year."

"But back to the topic at hand. Your job Yusuke, Kurama, Botan, and Hiei is to enroll in Higurashi's school and gain her trust. You are then to convince her to join the team for the Dark Tournament. She will prove priceless in your fight against this newest evil."

"Fine toddler but once we get back we want a full explanation you got it?"

"Agreed, but don't return without the Higurashi's" Koenma yelled as the four team members stepped through the portal and into the courtyard of Sakura High.

'Kagome I hope your not so mad at me that you'll refuse to help my team in this.'

*~Flashback Ends~*

So here he was stuck in this stupid class with nothing to due but listen to a lesson that he himself had lived through. The fox on the other had was busy taking notes and listening to the teachers lecture intent on keeping his marks as high as was possible.

Finally able to do nothing no longer in danger of going completely insane Hiei decided to have a little fun by peeking around in the heads of his fellow classmates. He decided to start with the fox. Allowing the Jagan to open slightly underneath his bandana he gently peeked into the mind of his only living friend.

< "High school girls.” Mentally screamed Kurama.

“High school boys.” Answered Yoko back just as loudly.

“High school girls.”

“High school boys.”>

It was painfully obvious that the two were arguing over which they preferred.

<"Yoko we don't have any time to mess with high school girls or high school boys. We are on a very important mission. Also Yoko how many damn times do I have to tell you I'm straight." Kurama snapped clearly exasperated with his mental demon.

"Much to my irritation I know. If you don't start being less picky we're never going to get laid again and you won't enjoy what I'll make you do if I think that is going to happen.">

Smirking slightly at his friend's inner battle Hiei decided that now would be the ideal time to withdraw.

Looking around the rest of the room Hiei was shortly disappointed with the lack of interesting thoughts that were on the minds of the ningen students that surrounded him.

Most revolved around the latest topics of gossip, or the newest clothes and the hottest guys/girls in the school. Hiei was not particularly interested in anyone of the same or opposite sex in this school. He had never found a ningen that captured his attention like that.

Sighing to himself he turned his head slightly to the last person in the room and he literally felt the breath be knocked out of him in shock.

Before him sat the most beautiful being that he had ever locked his numerous eyes on. She was probably slightly shorter than him if she were standing, with pitch-black hair that fell in soft straight strands to her knees with two pink strips running the length and framing her face. Her eyes were a mixture of swirling blue and silver and were utterly entrancing. They also held a blankness that he found strangely disturbing. He knew this blankness well for he saw it every time he gazed at his own sorry reflection. It was the blankness of one who had seen or done things that they were not proud of, but had had no choice but to do. It was the blankness that came when one closed off ones feelings and showed no emotions.

Her body or what he could see of it was delicate and small but strongly built. Hiei was not under the illusion that size was what mattered in a fight since he himself was on the smallish side.

He could not wait to peer into her mind, he felt as if he needed to dive inside of her and learn everything he could.

Opening his third eye a bit wider he prepared himself to look into the beauty's mind and wondered briefly what her name was. He was mildly surprised when his first gentle touch was rejected but he was not totally shocked. Some people had naturally strong mental barriers and would reject his initial intrusion into their minds, but noone could stand strong against the Jagan.

Smirking slightly he allowed the Jagan to open a little bit more and was completely stunned when the girl turned her head slightly and locked eyes with him as he heard inside his head the voice of a girl.

<"It's not polite to try and poke into the minds of others without their permission my little firefly." Said the voice softly.

"Hn. Who are you?" Hiei questioned her.

"My name is not your concern."

"Stupid onna let me into your mind before I destroy you from the inside out."

Twinkling laughter was his only reply

"Hm you have spunk I'll give you that, but I never let anyone inside my mind unless they ask." The girl said in a sugary sweet voice.

"And I refuse to ask. I'll find a way past your defenses and then you will pay for your insolence." Hiei fairly snarled.

"Suuuurrrreee you will."

"Hn.">

Hiei was absolutely livid, how dare that bitch doubt his ability to enter minds, he'd show her a thing or too as soon as this damn class was over.

BBBBBRRRIIIINNNNGGG

'Finally it was over with, thank Kami. Now to get that little bitch.'

Hiei waited for everyone to leave before he stood and made his way over to where the girl was just standing and putting away her untouched history text.

Leaning against the side of her desk he waited until she looked up before he flashed her a dangerous and fangy smirk.

"Onna tell me who you are and how you are able to block my intrusions." Hiei demanded.

"Kami can't you men ever ask for anything. Jeesh you act like it would kill you or something." She replied sarcastically.

The girl stood and gathered her bag intent on leaving Hiei's question unanswered. He allowed her to make it to the door before he flashed up behind her and had her pinned against the wall before she could blink.

Hiei smirked as the girl stood there shocked at his speed or so he thought (God he's so arrogant, OOOHHH I LOVE it).

Leaning forward until he was nose to nose with the interesting beauty Hiei breathed in her aroma.

'She smell like honey and fire. So sweet.' Hiei thought.

'He smells like fire on ice. Mmmm.' Kagome couldn't help but think.

Thinking that the onna could be easily fooled Hiei decided to change his approach.

"Let me in." He murmured softly trying to disguise his order as a request.

"Just because I am part human don't think that I am easily fooled apparition." Kagome snapped. She was starting to get angry since this little youkai thought that he could fool her so easily. She had to admit though his voice was extremely sexy, like hot summer days and smokey summer nights.

'What does she mean by part human. And how does she know about youkai?' Hiei was slightly puzzled by the girl's statement.

Sighing softly he decided to go against his nature and actually ask a question.

"Girl, please tell me your name." He snapped exasperated.

"About time. My name is Ka......."

She was interrupted by the loud voice of a teenage boy.

"Kami am I hearing things or did Hiei just ask a girl for her name?" Yusuke questioned, stunned to see the tiny fire apparition holding some girl in his arms.

Kagome looked at the youkai that held her so tenderly in his arms. Surely the fates could not be so cruel. Here she was thinking that she had finally found someone who could hold her intrest for a long period of time and it had to be him. The man who killed her family.

Hiei Jaganshi the Forbidden Child.

Turning to the others that had entered the room behind Yusuke Kagome spotted a familiar blue head.

"Botan," she snapped. "Take me to see Koenma , I need to speak with him now!"

Kagome waited impatiently for the ferry girl to open her portal. Stepping through Kagome only had one thought on her mind, 'Koenma you have a lot of explaining to do.'
