Kagome awoke to the sun shining in her face, rolling over in her bed and groaning, she tried to get the irritating light out of her eyes. Just then Sota came running into her room and jumped on her. Kagome shot up with a yelp and glared at her soon-to-be-dead brother. “Mama told me to wake you up sis.” Kagome pushed hair out of her face as she continued to glare at the person who dared to wake her up. “I don’t think she meant for you to jump on me like a kangaroo.”

Sota looked at her innocently with his big brown eyes. “It was the only way for me to wake you up without you trying to swat at me.” “Well now,” Kagome said with an evil grin, “I’m going to murder you and make you wish you never woke me up.” Kagome kicked off the covers, while Sota yelped and started to run away from his grumpy sister. Kagome was hot on his heels as he ran down the hallway, down the stairs and into the kitchen, where their mother and grandpa sat. They stared at the two as they ran around the table a few times.

When Mrs. Higurashi finally had enough she cleared her throat and stood up. “Children! Knock it off !” Both kids stopped what they were doing and stared at their irritated mother. “I have no idea why you two are at each others throats like this but, I want it to stop right now!” Their mother seethed. Kagome and Sota stared at her for a few seconds and then sat down at the breakfast table. They started to eat in silence at first and then light chatter followed. “Hey sis, so how’s Inuyasha doing anyways?” Kagome stopped and stared at her brother with her chopsticks in her mouth.

She swallowed what she had and sighed. “Honestly, I don’t know why he looks up to that jerk. But, then again he doesn’t really know the true Inuyasha and how he really acts towards everyone. I guess I better make something up so he can get on with is life.” Clearing her throat she tried to think of the best words to describe on exactly how he was doing. “Well, he’s doing…well. He made a fool out of himself again with is brother and the Lord of the North. Then he wouldn’t let me go home and got sat….a lot. So, I guess he is doing as well as expected I guess.”

Sota gave her a confused look but, took it as a good he opened his mouth to ask another question but, Mrs. Higurashi gave him a “Don’t you even dare look.” He gulped and continued on eating his breakfast. After breakfast Kagome went up to her room, showered, and changed into a pair of dark jeans, a black t-shirt with silver dragon on the back and a red rose on the front. Her hair was left down, she never wore make-up or perfume since the perfume bothered her nose and the make-up just made her look stupid.

Mrs. Higurashi finished packing Sota’s lunch and handed it to him as he went to the door. Kagome stood against the door frame waiting for something to happen and looked up when she heard her mothers voice. “Kagome dear, could you walk Sota to school. I don’t trust anyone roaming the streets these days and since your not going to school today I thought you wouldn’t mind.”

Kagome shrugged and went to get her shoes. “Thank you dear.” “Welcome Mom. I will be home in a bit, love you.” “Love you too dear. Love you too Sota be good and have a good day. Stay out of trouble.” Sota grabbed his lunch, kissed his mom and put on his shoes. “Kay, love you too mom. I will and don’t worry. Have a good day today too.” With that said both brother and sister walked out of the house and down the shrine steps to Sota’s school.

Along they way they walked in silence for a few blocks until Sota decided to ask his sister a question. “Hey sis?” “Yeah what is it Sota?” “Um…well it’s just that…um…” Kagome looked down at her younger brother with a confused look. “Well, spit it out Sota.” She said with an annoyed look. “Well, what do the demon lords look like?
I mean I know what Inuyasha looks like and most of the demons. But, I’ve never really heard you talk about anyone else but your friends.”

Kagome blinked a few times and then started to laugh. “Is that what your all worked up about? The demon lords?” Sota blushed a little and looked at the sidewalk. Kagome put her arm around her little brother and smiled at him. “It’s nothing to be embarrassed about there is nothing wrong with being curious. Just remember that curiosity usually comes with a price.”

Sota nodded his head eagerly awaiting his sisters answer. “Alright I will tell you from what I know but, I can’t say it’s accurate. My personal experience is that they are all asses, they think they are high and mighty with a sticks up their ass. From the two that I have met, but, I guess it’s because they have to have this persona about them. Who knows but, what I’ve been told by Sango is that, “The most dangerous demon is the one who passes himself off as human.” Which most of the lords do. So that makes them extremely dangerous and a pain to reason with.”

“Although I can only say for two of them really. Ugh. This conversation really isn’t getting anywhere.” They finally reached Sota’s school and Kagome stopped at the gate. “Hey sis, one more question and then I’ll go.” “Alright what is it?” “Well, one is can you tell cousin Yusuke ‘Hi’ for me and two would be….well, um…” “Spit it out Sota.” Kagome sighed irritably. “Will I be able to ever meet someone stronger than Inuyasha?” Kagome gave him a confused look and sighed. “I don’t know Sota, maybe. It’s always possible, I guess. What’s with the 20 questions game anyways?”

Sota was about ready to say something when the school bell started to ring. “Gotta go sis. Love ya have a good trip.” Waving bye to her little brother she started to head home. “He’s growing up so fast. Someday I hope he will find what he loves to do and I hope that it doesn’t involve demons. They are such a pain.”

Walking towards her home she decided to take head downtown to see if she could find any new fighting clothes. In her demon form it was great but, she couldn’t going around with ears, tail, claws and fangs. It would cause too much trouble and panic.
Looking through the windows on the streets, she sighed and gagged for about the hundredth time in the past 20 minutes. All of the clothes were way to girly and frilly, she never understood why all of the designers had to be so feminine.

Just because the girls were portrayed that way doesn’t mean that they all were. Sighing again she looked up at the sun to see what time it was. Spending time in Feudal Japan without a watch got her to learn how to tell time just with the sun and moon. Cursing herself she started to sprint all the way home.

Using some of her demonic speed to get there faster, her sights landed on the beginning of the shrine steps. Looking around to see if people watching or coming she crouched on her legs and jumped from the bottom all the way to the top. Brushing off some of the dirt on her shirt she started to walk to the door. Opening the door she ran upstairs and finished packing.

She didn’t know how long she would be staying but she figured that it would be a while. Grabbing two of her dark blue suitcases she headed downstairs and set them near the door. Mrs. Higurashi walked into the living room and stared at her daughter. “Kagome, I didn’t hear you come in dear.” “Sorry mom. I just got here and I finished packing up the last of my things.” “Well you don’t need to leave for another few hours yet. Do you want to go to the Feudal Era to say good-bye to your friends?”

Kagome looked up at her mom as if she were kidding, when she say she wasn’t she sighed and fell onto the couch. “Nope, they will just beg me to stay and I’ve already made up my mind on going.” “Although Inuyasha will surely come for me before hand. I
did say I was coming back soon and I don’t want mom to have to take the blame for me. I might actually have to go back and explain things. But, him when things don’t go their way is not good. He would throw the biggest temper tantrum ever recorded in history.”
“Hey mom. I’m going to leave Inuyasha a note so you won’t have to explain anything. But, you can tell him I ran off and got married to a complete stranger though.”

Kagome smiled and laughed. Her mother giggled trying not to laugh at her daughters comment. “Kagome Higurashi that isn’t funny.” With that said she went to the kitchen to finish cleaning, and call a cab to take her to the subway station.

The hours flew by like they were seconds, standing up she stretched out her sore limbs and was about ready to grab her bags. A loud bang came from outside and she heard, “KAGOME! WHERE IN THE HELL ARE YOU?!” “Oh it fucking figures.” Mrs. Higurashi poked her head out of the kitchen. “Kagome language.”

Kagome seethed and headed out to the back of the shrine. She went out into the back yard and watched as an angry hanyou stomped out of the well house. “Inuyasha what is it now?” “What in the hell do you think! Sesshomaru and Minako keep coming by our campsites and around Kaede’s village. Minako keeps saying that the female fox still hangs around us. I keep saying their isn’t any fox except Shippo.”

Kagome folded her arms and her eyes held anger in them. Her sensitive nose picking up the recent scent of dirt and graveyard soil. “So, what do you want me to do about it? I can’t do anything at the moment, I’m about ready to leave.” “What?! Why in the hell didn’t you tell me this?! You can’t leave we have jewel shards, Naraku and his incarnations to deal with!” “They can wait then. We haven’t found any jewel shards in the past several months and Naraku hasn’t made a move since then either. I’m leaving and you can’t stop me.” “Like hell I can’t!” Inuyasha reached out to grab her arm and Kagome opened her mouth and yelled “SIT! SIT SIT SIT SIT AND SIT!!”

Kagome’s eyes turned a bright silver color as she spoke the nest words. “Come after me and I will make sure you join your precious clay doll got it.” As she spoke her eyes returned to their dark blue color, as she looked in the crater she smirked and walked back into the house to get her things. “Mom I’m leaving now. I love you. Oh and there is a big crater in the back yard. Love you, see you in a while.” Kagome kissed her mom and grabbed her bags. She left the house, went down the stairs, and got into the taxi to the train station.

**********************Time Skip***********************

As the train arrived farther into Japan, and boarded at the dock to let passengers off Kagome heaved a sigh of relief. She couldn’t believe that she was actually here and away from most of her problems. Granted they haven’t seen high nor hare of Naraku she thought she might be better with getting some rest. Grabbing her bags she headed out to
where the people waited for arrivals.

She didn’t know exactly who she was looking for, since she hadn’t seen her cousin in over eight years. Out of the corner of her eye she spotted a green uniform, the boy had brown eyes, slicked black hair and a ‘Don’t mess with me attitude.’ Standing next to him she came only up to his chin, standing toe-to-toe with him. The other boy next to him wore a light blue uniform, orange hair, black eyes and had the same persona but, she could tell he had a gentle soul.

Walking up to them she asked politely, “Excuse me but, are you Yusuke Urameshi?” The boy in the green uniform looked at her quizzically and then smiled. “Yeah, that’d be me and that must make you Kagome Higurashi.” Kagome smiled and jumped at him giving him a huge hug. “Hey, Urameshi. Aren’t ya gonna introduce me to your little friend here?”

Putting Kagome down, Yusuke sighed. “Yeah yeah Kagome this is Kuwabara.” “Holy hell Yusuke you have a friend, other than me, that’s amazing.” Kuwabara started laughing and holding his sides. Yusuke scowled at the comment and punched Kuwabara in the face. “Yeah, if you wanna call this big ape a friend.” Kuwabara bounced back up and yelled at Yusuke. “What the hell was that for Urameshi?” “You know what it was for so why don’t you just shut up.” Kagome started laughing and holding her sides. “You guys argue like an old married couple.”

Yusuke and Kuwabara stared at each other and then at Kagome, they both started denying it and making up excuses. “By the way, my name is Kagome Higurashi and I’m Yusuke’s cousin.” She smiled up at Kuwabara and Kuwabara stared at Kagome like she had second head. “What do you mean COUSIN?!”

Taking his finger out of his ear, so Kuwabara wouldn’t damage it, he brushed off the comment like it was nothing. “Jeez Kuwabara ya don’t have to scream. Kagome and I haven‘t seen each other in over eight years, but, yeah we are cousins. Alright let‘s get going Kags.” Yusuke grabbed one of Kagome’s bags and threw the other one at Kuwabara. The three walked out of the train station and headed over to Yusuke’s new apartment. “This is gonna be so much fun.” Kagome smiled as she thought to herself.
