CHAPTER 3 OF The Winged Angel.
It's been 12 years since that fateful night when her father left her. As much as Kagome hated her father for leaving, she still loved him. He was the only father like figure she ever knew and probably will be the only one. After her father left, Kagome's Mom, Akasha (From Queen of the Damned) Higurashi, had one boyfriend. Though father leaving really tolled on the whole family, she had to get on with life. Naraku, her boyfriend, found her crying in the park one day, and well, they just hit it off after that. Miroku wasn't as energetic AS much, but still had enough energy to get on your nerves. Kagome was the worst.
Kagome had gone into a really deep depression. She wouldn't come out of her room to eat or to get a drink. Kagome only came out of her room to use the bathroom and go to school. Even in school, Kagome would get up in the following, use a set of color full language that would pout a sailor to shame, get dressed (preferably in black clothes), get in the car, go to school, never say a word to her mother, run in the school, and go directly to the little girls bathroom and hide there all day.
Eventually her mom found out.
////////////FLASHBACK ////////////
"All right. Thank you so very much Mr. Hokagay. (ho-kog-gay)" With a soft clink, Akasha put the phone back on the hook and called, more like yelled, her daughter downstairs.
“KAGOME GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY!!!! YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE!!!!" You can tell she yelled at the top of her lungs because her tan cheeks were painted a soft and light red.
/////Mean While In Kagome's Room/////////
Kagome was lying down on her bed listening to her radio play its commercials, when she hears the song ' Because Of You' by Kelly Clarkson come on. Though she felt like crying, because of how much this song was like her life, she held back the fears. She promised her self a year after her father left that she would no longer cry for anybody! Se would not allow herself to cry. She just wouldn't allow it. Crying meant she was weak inside, and she didn't want to be weak on the inside. `It's okay to weak on the inside sometimes.' Her inner voice tried to reason with her for so long, but eventually, it gave up. She was so determined. So determined not to break. Kagome softly began singing to the song. Never missing a pitch. Always hitting just the right note.
"Because Of You"
I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far
I will not make the same mistakes that you did
I will not let myself
Cause my heart so much misery
I will not break the way you did,
You fell so hard
I've learned the hard way
To never let it get that far
Kagome would not break the same way her mom did when he left. She would NOT break down. Kagome learned from first hand experience what love could do to you. She would stop herself from letting it get that far. She'd promise herself that.
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
Kagome was so afraid after that. She couldn't trust anybody after what had happened. She couldn't trust her mother for at least three good long years because she wouldn't tell her own children what was happening. Kagome knew that she didn't tell her children because of trying to 'protect' them. They did more harm then protect. She couldn't trust Miroku anymore for a good two months or so because he knew that this had been happening longer than she had. He didn't tell her because of the same reason. Her beloved brother was only trying to protect her. She couldn't trust any of her friends for fear of them leaving her just life her father did. Just walk out on her in her time of need. So she didn't have anymore friends until this girl Miroku brought home for help on a project. Her name was Sango. Sango said that she knows how she feels. After much effort, they became friends. Best friend to be exact.
I lose my way
And it's not too long before you point it out
I cannot cry
Because I know that's weakness in your eyes
I'm forced to fake
A smile, a laugh everyday of my life
My heart can't possibly break
When it wasn't even whole to start with
Kagome seriously lost her way after IT happened. Yusuke, her childhood good friend, found her one day at a park, sobbing her heart out. Pouring her soul out all over his red shirt. It was the day after her father left and had yet to make her promise. Yusuke had told her that it would all be alright. That he was here for her. That she was always welcome in arms. He told her that she was welcome to come to his house if she felt like crying. And Kagome loved him for that. But that never lasted long, but he did point her in a better direction though. Her heart couldn't possibly break if it wasn't whole to begin with, right? So, she made a promise to herself.
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I find it hard to trust not only me, but everyone around me
Because of you
I am afraid
He hurt her. So she did the only thing she knew how to do at that young of an age, she swore to never fall in love. Another promise pilled up upon the other ones.
I watched you die
I heard you cry every night in your sleep
I was so young
You should have known better than to lean on me
You never thought of anyone else
You just saw your pain
And now I cry in the middle of the night
For the same damn thing
Kagome heard her mom cry at nights. She knew what she was sobbing about. It always pained her to see her mother cry like that. It almost, ALMOST, made her want to cry.
Because of you
I never stray too far from the sidewalk
Because of you
I learned to play on the safe side so I don't get hurt
Because of you
I try my hardest just to forget everything
Because of you
I don't know how to let anyone else in
Because of you
I'm ashamed of my life because it's empty
Because of you
I am afraid
After that night, her life just seemed so empty. She rarely went out anywhere, and if she did, she wouldn't have fun, envying the other people that had a father and a perfect life. Her life was meaningless. What purpose did she have here in this god forsaken world?
Because of you
Because of you
Because of you
All because of him. Because the bastard decided to go and chest on his wife. She thanked her father though. For teaching her a lesson. The lesson: Never trust a man.
As the song ended, Kagome could faintly hear her mom get off the phone with her principle. She was in trouble.
"Kagome!!! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!!! YOU ARE IN SO MUCH TROUBLE YOUNG LADY!!!
Kagome heard her mom yell and came down the hardwood stairs, her feet patting the floor softly. Almost tripping due to her baggy pants. As she neared the kitchen, Kagome began to get nervous. Fearing what the punishment might be. Perhaps she'll get lucky and just get a boring lecture saying that she needed to go and be in class.
Someone must have been on her side today, because that's exactly what she got. A boring lecture. Kagome let a soft and barely audible breath that she didn't know that she was holding, out.
Kelly came up to her daughter and pulled her into a hug, making small circles on her back, sighing softly.
"Kagome, why do you hide in the bathroom all day? Are the teachers that bad? Or is it that the kids make fun of you?"
Kagome mentally laughed at the teacher part. Some of it was the teachers, but the most part was that the kids made fun of her because of what she wears. They would always whisper behind her back. They thought that she didn't hear them in such low and hushed voices, but Kagome heard them loud and clear. She doesn't know how she did, but she did. It's not like she had super hearing right? She got tired of all the rumors so she went into hiding and didn't come out until she thought that it was safe. Which wasn't till after school.
“No mom. It's not the teachers, and it's not the kids either. I just don't like going to school is all." Kagome said with a faint whisper of sadness in her voice. Good thing her mom didn't notice, because if she did, her mom wouldn't let her leave the room until she told why she was so sad, and she didn't feel like explaining things right now.
“Ok honey. If that's all it is, I'll let you go back to what you were doing, alright."
" Ok." Kagome said in a happier voice. Happy that she gets to go back to her salvation, and started up the stairs only to get interrupted once again by her mother's voice.
"Kagome dear, can you promise me one thing. Promise me that you'll go to your classes this time. Please. For me?" Akasha asked with concern.
Not wanting to disappoint her mother further and make her sadder, Kagome said Ok.

//////////End Flashback////////
Kagome was currently sitting on her bed, curled up in its black and red satin sheets, praying. Prying to all the gods that would listen to her that Naraku wouldn't come home. Ever again. Was it wrong for somebody to pray for such a devilish thing? See, Naraku was her mom's new boyfriend. It just goes to show how much her mother loved their real father, just go away and date some new dude that she knew her daughter hated.
Unfortunately, the devil himself just cam in the door. So Kagome rushed to her door, locked it, and walked to a table next to her bed and picked up an envelope on her desk to find it saying the same thing. Over the millions of times she has read it, it still said the exact same thing. Every time she read it, she hoped that it would change. But she has come to terms that that will never happen.

“Dear the Higurashi Family, I am so sorry to saythat your ex-husband had a
car crash on his way to the hospital to see his new wife give birth to his new
son. Unfortunately, his new wife died giving birth and the baby died too
due to him beingborn with a very fatal disease. The baby only had two days of

(Right now, it is January 16, 2006)
Kagome never went to it. In fact, none of their family went. It WAS Christmas for crying out loud!!! Kagome thought for a few seconds only to have to hear Naraku call for her. She new what he wanted. She knew the he knew that she knew that he knew. (Am I confusing anybody yet?) So she put on her black and white converse, and rushed downstairs.
"Kagome hunny, do you want to go to the store with me?" Naraku asked in a sickenly sweet voice that he knew Kagome hated. He knew that Kagome hated him. Who couldn't hate him for what he did to her.
Fearing for her life, Kagome ran and jumped into the Nissan Skyline, that was silver with some blue strips on it, and neon blue lights under the car and inside of the car, and a high fin in the back. Waiting for her mother's boyfriend, Kagome pondered on what he would do to her today. Her thoughts immediately stopped when the car started to drive.
'I guess I didn't hear him come in because of me thinking.' Kagome thought to herself.

She didn't know how long they had drove, but the next thing she knew was that she was being thrown out the car. Very roughly might I add? She landed in a heap on the concrete floor and looked up and noticed that she landed on some garbage bags. Thank the lord for garbage bags. Though the safety didn't last long. Kagome felt herself being lifted and thrown onto the cement this time, with her stomach on the ground. (Her head was on the bags and her legs were on the cement last time.) Kagome screamed bloody murder when Naraku started hitting her with a torque wrench in the head, on the legs, on the back of the legs, on her arms, everywhere. Then he turned her on her back and started beating her in the same spots carelessly. Rivers of blood came out from every wound in her body, as he left her there to die, as she laid their unconscious, as she dreamed of finding love and peace in her life, as she dreamed of her mom never seeing the man again, as she dreamed of somebody finding the big lump of flesh.
