Chapter Fifteen:

Kagome sighed and unclipped her hair. Tossing the clip onto her bathroom counter she stretched her arms above her head; yawning.

 

What a night…she'd finally come back from the first fashion show and had skipped out on the party because she was so tired. It'd been absolutely phenomenal. She'd sold her entire line of clothing that'd been modeled.

 

Coming back to have a nice hot bath and a glass of lemonade sounded wonderful and she was all too eager to make it happen.

 

Sango, Chise, and Riku were all at the after-show party and weren't due to come back until morning.

 

Sango… Kagome hadn't seen Sango all day that day. Her personal assistant had only arrived in a flurry minutes before the show started. She looked as if she'd been running about 4 marathons. Then Kagome saw the hickeys below her friend's neckline and didn't need an explanation as to why Sango was late.

 

She'd have to pull Sango aside later and make her spill it all.

 

Walking over to the whirlpool bathtub she reached for the faucet handles only to pause when something bright caught her eye from outside of the window.

 

Standing up straight, she admired the Eiffel Tower's elegance from her window. The last time she'd been there it was on her honeymoon. She and Sesshoumaru had just returned from a club down the street and she'd persuaded Sesshoumaru to take her up to the top.

 

He did…and that was when something extremely rare happened. He'd taken her hands and turned her so she was facing him and he looked down in her eyes with a look she'd never seen before. Then he kissed her gently on the lips before speaking.

 

"I love you, Kagome Kagiyama…I'll love for the rest of my life."

 

She'd cried. It was so…beautiful. At first it seemed WAY out of character than his usual stoic self…but then you to remember that even the most foulest of people, have a good side to them. And Sesshoumaru was one of those who had one…but didn't understand how to use it.

 

Looking back on it now, Kagome smiled and turned away from the bathtub. Going over to the closet next to the entryway, she retrieved her peacoat and left the suite with only one destination in mind.

"Father?" Tao mumbled into his father's shoulder.

 

"Yes?" Sesshoumaru asked, hiking Tao up further into his arms.

 

"Can I have ice cream?" Tao mumbled, half awake.

 

Sesshoumaru sighed, pushing the elevator's up button. "No. Not tonight. We shall see about tomorrow."

 

Tao mumbled something indecipherable and instantly slipped into sleep. Sesshoumaru climbed into the empty elevator and pushed the correct floor's button. When the doors closed, he slipped his son's bracelet off and watched as two little dog ears popped up on Tao's head. They continuously twitched and flicked around; adjusting to their new found freedom.

 

After a long day at the conference, Tao 'should' be tired. Hell, HE, Sesshoumaru, was tired.

 

Just as they reached the top floor, Tao mumbled something about "batteries…" again. Shaking his head, Sesshoumaru pulled out his room's card key and slipped it through the slot. Entering the room, he made sure to remove Tao's shoes before tucking him into one of the two king size beds.

 

Bending down and kissing his son's forehead, he sat on the edge of the bed and sighed. Tao was so much like his mother. So…kind hearted. So…fiery when their dormant rage was unleashed. He chuckled remembering a time when Kagome had gotten angry with him and had cursed a few choice words unaware that Tao was hiding behind the kitchen door. A few days later, Tao had thrown a temper tantrum and had used the same choice words his mother had.

 

He'd never forget the way Kagome turned a light shade of purple in anger and shock.

 

Almost as if his thoughts were cursing him, the scent of lavender suddenly wafted into the room. Standing up, he ventured to the suite's door and opened it. The hallway was empty except for the strong cloud of lavender. Turning to look down to his left, he saw the elevators doors close, but he'd caught sight of Kagome slipping her coat on.

 

'What on earth is she going out at this hour for?' He wondered, noting from the clock on the wall that it was close to 11:30 p.m.

 

Without thinking, he closed the door behind him and followed her scent. The elevator was still going down. She'd be gone long before he'd get down there and the city stench would dilute hers, allowing her to slip away from him easily enough.

 

So in decision, he turned towards the staircase, ready to sprint down the 50 flights of stairs.

Tao rolled over and smiled. Father was following after mother.

 

'I hope they don't fight…I should call uncle…just in case.' He thought, flipping his lamp on and picking up the phone.

He'd made it to the lobby before her elevator had even descended that far. After waiting in the shadows, she finally walked out of the golden plated doors and exited the hotel.

 

Hurriedly, yet discreetly, he followed after her.

 

He'd only seen the back of her so far…but it was a nice view. Her legs were as long and creamy looking as he remembered. Her hair was loose and hanging freely down her back. Oh what he would give to just have a moment to run his hands through those obsidian locks. Her hips and bum were sway slowly yet so tauntingly. Even when they'd first met, when she was in high school, she'd been something that wouldn't leave his mind.

 

Stopping at a corner light, he stepped into an alleyway and waited until she started crossing the street before following her. He began to remember the very first time he'd realized that he'd fallen in love with her. It was during exam week in college and she'd never left his mind once. He passed all his classes thankfully…but she was always there in some corner of his mind.

 

It got to the point of where he'd begun having a relationship with someone, he went to school with, did he realize that she'd stolen his heart. Every time he'd be out on a date, Kagome's name would be on the tip of his tongue and he would have to catch himself before accidentally calling his date her name.

 

She was always on his mind. Even in his art class, he was told that for the classes final, they would have to paint their muse, or what inspired them.

 

He'd painted his entire soul into that painting. It was of her. She was naked and was partially hidden in the shadows----only her electric blue eyes stood out as his very heart.

 

He'd called it "Virgin Temptation". That's what she was. Something so pure and untouched, yet so tempting and erotic----he needed to have her.

 

Now looking at the woman ahead of him, he knew that she was still the same woman he'd mated and married so long ago…only she was buried eon's beneath layers of pain and hurt that'd been caused by him.

 

If only he could turn back time. He would have changed everything.

 

Stopping a distance behind her, when she stopped, he paused to look up at what she was staring at. He swallowed. He'd been so immersed in following her that he hadn't realized that they were heading straight towards the Eiffel Tower.

 

That was the place he told her that he would love her for the rest of his life. He'd meant it. And dammit…he'd taken that promise by the neck and tore it to pieces.

 

Finding his bearings, he noted that she'd begun walking again, albeit more slowly this time towards the gargantuan structure, he followed after her.

"Come on Uncle! You have to help me!" Tao whined, flopping onto his back on the bed.

 

"Tao…" Inuyasha groaned.

 

"5 years supply of ramen, every flavor. Final offer." Tao bargained.

 

He heard his uncle sigh and he smiled. He KNEW that sigh.

 

"Fine. What hotel are you guys staying at?" Inuyasha grumbled.

 

"Thanks uncle! We're staying at…"

There she was…standing with her arms leaning against the railing; the blustery freezing wind blowing her loose hair in a frenzied twisting motion. Her breath was coming out in white smoky puffs and was dying beautifully in the wind.

 

He was standing just in the doorway of the elevator and was content just watching her.

 

It was only when he heard her sniffling and smelled the salty scent of her tears did he perk up and slowly make his way over next to her.

 

She seemed to know that someone was there, but didn't know who, because she turned her back to him in hopes that he hadn't noticed she'd been crying.

 

"Kagome…?" He asked, barely able to hear himself.

 

He watched as her shoulders stiffened and she tensed up straight. Looking in a glance over her shoulder she let out a sob before walking to the other side of the lookout.

 

"Kagome. Please don't walk away. I only wish…to talk." He said, following after her.

 

Kagome sniffled and turned herself away from him again. He watched as she pulled her sleeve back and check her watch before darting towards the elevator.

 

He was quicker. He'd darted after her almost before she'd been able to take two steps and took hold of her arms.

 

"Kagome! Cease this childness!" He growled, as she cried out and fought and struggled in his grip.

 

"Let go of me!" She cried her hair sticking to her wet cheeks.

 

Sesshoumaru snarled and pulled her around so she was tightly held into his arms.

 

It was almost immediate. The round pressure he felt pushing itself into his abdomen was unmistakable. Kagome clutched the front of his blazer and wept into his chest in body racking sobs.

 

Pulling away, with his hands still rest on her arms, he watched as she unbuttoned the last bottom 3 buttons of her peacoat…revealing her 4 month belly.

 

He looked up at her with searching eyes before looking down at her belly again.

 

Time stopped.
