Tao forced himself to open the large oak doors of the mansion and to not collapse onto the floor of the entrance hall. School was…HELL. He truly didn't understand why he was so tired… Wait. Cho. Nevermind. He could collapse now.
"Hey! You're home!" Came a cheerful voice. Tao opened his eyes and found himself looking at his mother.
"Hi mother. What's up?" He asked, kicking his shoes off and trudging into the kitchen.
"Oh nothing much…just bingeing on cantaloupe and honey dew. How was your day at school?" She asked, busying herself with some of her newest clothing designs laid out on the table.
He shrugged as he opened a fruit juice and took a big gulp. "Where's father?"
"He's in the living room with Cho." His mother sighed, not looking up from her drawings; fully concentrating on her artwork.
Tao snuck a peek at his mother and sighed, before heading out to the living room. Sure enough, his father was laying prostrate on the couch----Cho sleeping heavily on top of his chest. His father must've caught his son's scent because his eyes popped open and were directed straight onto him.
"Afternoon, father." Tao said, sipping his juice.
His father sighed and nodded, rubbing his eyes---carefully as to not wake Cho.
Tao flopped down onto the couch across from his father and leaned his head back. How good it felt to be back home…and 'actually' have a family once again. Why couldn't things have always been like this? Why did things have to happen like this? Swallow a sip of his drink, he lifted his head once again and opened his eyes----only to tense up and be attacked by shivers----for his father was sitting up and staring at him intently. Cho was still sleeping peacefully on the couch cushion next to him.
"I would like to speak with you…alone sometime this evening." Sesshoumaru stated, sounding as if he was having a hard time at being social at the moment.
Tao swallowed and nodded. "All right."

Kagura sat down onto the chair across from the doctor and waited while she flipped through her medical file.
"Well, it seems that you're a completely healthy woman, Kagura. Your stats as of right now are…2 months and I hope that-----" The doctor only to be interrupted by a confused Kagura.
"Wait----what do you mean by 2 months? Are you saying that I have cancer or something?" Kagura stupidly said.
The doctor had paused to just look at her before swallowing and continuing. "No…Kagura. I meant that you're pregnancy is 2 months along and everything seems to be healthy. The both of you are."
Kagura felt the world melt away. Her face went white and her skin became clammy with a stick cold sweat. Pregnant? No way. She couldn't be. NO!
"Oh shit…"

Tao stepped out from the passenger's side of his father's car and waited for his sire to do the same. He honestly hadn't a clue as to why his father wanted to speak with him and what about. And more specifically why he wished to speak with him in a park.
"Father?" He asked, once they began walking along to bike path. "What is it that you wished to speak with me about?" He looked up at his stoic father and found himself surprised at the fact that his father didn't look stoic at all! He looked…calm. Relaxed.
It was a while before Sesshoumaru chose to answer, after walking about 15 minutes. He stopped and turned towards the pond, hosting a family of ducks and more than enough fish to last a while. He pocketed his clawed hands and sighed.
"Tao…do you know why I married your mother?" He asked.
Tao frowned and thought for a moment, before shaking his head.
"I met your mother through your uncle…and let's just say that the moment that I even sensed her…I knew that I was to be mated with her." Sesshoumaru explained quietly. Tao looked out at the passing, quacking, family of ducks and waited for his father to continue. "I thought it was by far the most absurd thing I'd ever experienced. I refused to become like my father----your grandfather----and mate a human. I'd refused to disgrace our family name with such…sordity…"
Tao swallowed, knowing what was coming next.
"I also thought that creating more half-breeds would defile the demon race forever." He said, taking a side-glance at his quiet son.
Tao fought the urge to turn away and forced his tongue to work. "How…how did you and mother end up together?"
Sesshoumaru inhaled through his nose and let the air out in a sigh. "I'll admit that I was in denial for so very long…so long that it was eating away at my insides."
"At what, father?" Tao asked.
"I fell in love with your mother when she'd come over to work on a project with Inuyasha. I'd been slaughtered with homework and financial papers, regarding your grandparents wills, and she'd gone right past Inuyasha to me…and offered some tea."
Tao quirked an eyebrow and smirked up at his father. "That's kind of dorky, father."
Tao's face went slack in surprise when his father suddenly smiled and chuckled, shaking his head. This was…different.
"At the time I thought that it was by far the most kindest thing someone had ever done for me. To think that she would brush off her best friend to console me when I was overwhelmed with paperwork." Sesshoumaru said mostly to himself. "I always thought it was wrong for a demon to love something---or to have the emotion called love."
Tao looked down at the quacking family of ducks. It was strange really, having his father confess things like this to him. After living with him for 14 years, Tao was finally beginning to understand his father.
"Tao?" His father said, ripping the said boy from his thoughts. Tao turned to look up at his father.
"Yes, father?" He asked.
"I know that I haven't been the best father I could be…and I wish I could try harder…but…I just wanted you to know that you and your sister are the most important things to me other than your mother. I wouldn't trade you three for anything in the world." He admitted.
Tao felt his throat constrict and his eyes begin to burn. Without warning, he flung himself into his father's chest, wrapping his arms around his waist.
"I love you father." He whispered, enjoying the feeling of closeness when Sesshoumaru wrapped his arms around his son.

Kagome was just sitting down when the telephone rang. Groaning, she forced herself back onto her feet and trudged into the kitchen.
"Hello?" She answered, picking a whimpering Cho up from the tiled flooring.
"Is this Kagome Higurashi?" Asked a voice. Kagome frowned. For some reason…that voice sounded familiar.
"Yes it is. May I ask who's calling?" She asked, setting a fussing Cho down into her high chair.
"This…is Kagura…um."
Kagome felt her entire being melt away and she ground her teeth together.
"What the hell? You have some nerve to even THINK of even calling here!" She yelled, scaring Cho and making her cry.
"Wait I----"
"NO! You already ruined my marriage once----I won't let you do it again! Don't call here again!" Kagome screamed into the phone, before slamming it back onto the receiver. Cho was wailing now, big tears were dripping down her chubby cheeks. Kagome grabbed her daughter and sunk down to the floor crying. She hugged Cho and they cried together.
