Kagome was still having trouble shaking the tingly feeling she got whenever she thought about Sesshomaru. The noon sun was beating down on her as she worked in the small vegetable garden. Once she had enough for dinner she returned to the kitchen where she deposited her burden with the cooks. After washing up she took Yuka and Ayame's dried laundry up to them. Ayame glared at her as she carefully replaced each article of clothing. Before she left she bowed.
“Is there anything this one can fetch you?”
“I do not require anything.”
“This one is here only to serve.”
She backed out of the room and walked to Yuka's. The girl was seated, staring out at the gardens deep in thought. Kagome finished her chore trying to give her time to gather her thoughts. At last she spoke.
“I met the most amazing woman last night. She…she told me I was beautiful.”
“She was right.”
Yuka jumped then gave a shy smile. “She was amazing.”
“You said that already. What was her name?”
“That's the thing, no one knows. She was there with Sesshomaru-sama. Otousan was furious.” She sighed wistfully. “I wish you could have seen them dance. It was like watching flowers bloom or a sunrise. You just felt this calm settle on you, and you knew that you were witnessing one of the most beautiful things in the universe.”
Kagome sat, slightly shocked by Yuka's description. She'd been so caught up she hadn't noticed the crowd's reaction until afterward. Yuka shook herself slightly, then blushed.
“I'm sorry, I shouldn't talk about this in front of you. I know you wanted to be there.”
“You're doing such a good job. It's almost as if I was.” Yuka's blush deepened and Kagome pushed herself to her feet. “I still have things to do this morning. If you'll excuse me?”
Yuka nodded and Kagome left her room, sliding the door shut behind her. In the hall she fingered the ring as she walked slowly back to the kitchen. She wasn't sure when it had come to mean so much to her, or when Sesshomaru had come to mean so much to her, but she was sure of two things, the first was that Sesshomaru was right about Yoshi and the second was that she was most definitely falling in love with the stoic youkai lord.
