The ambulance pulled to a jerk into the emergancy room parking lot, they grabbed Inuyasha
and headed into the building, with Kagome still by his side.
"Ka-kagome....." Inuyasha said weakly, slightly opening his now reddened eyes, and reaching
out to grasp Kagome's hand.
"Shh.....Quiet Inuyasha." she said in a comforting tone, doing her best not to let Inuyasha
sense her fear.
"Kagome, wh-ere am I?"
"Your in the emergancy room." she said, him holding her hand weakly.
"Ka-" he started to say, but he was pulled away from Kagome, he still grasped onto her hand,
until he had to let go.
"We need to take him to run some tests.." said a nurse with a weak smile. "We'll let you know
his condition as soon as it's possible." She closed the door behind her.
Kagome let out a long sigh, walked over and sat in a rock-hard chair, and began to think.
'Just wonderful...Inuyasha comes to my world, FINALLY wanting to see more of it, he catches me
off guard, he holds my hand,..' she began to blush, '...and now he's in the emergancy room, with
God only knows what's wrong with him!'
She looked over and pulled a magazine off of a nearby table, and started to look
at it, but her mind was once again flooded with her thoughts...thoughts she didn't need right
now.
'What if...he's...very sick? What if I did something to cause him to get sick? What if he....'
tears began to stream down her now pailed visage, 'What if he's d-dies!'
Her hands now covered her face and were flooded with her salty tears which rolled down her sensitive
skin.
"Ma'am?"
Kagome still cried heavily, but managed to look up, "Hai...?"
She was supprised at what she saw. It was a small boy, no older than the age of eleven, clothed in a
house coat, and sitting in a small wheelchair with brightly colored handle bars.
"Are you okay? You look very sad."
Kagome was still upset, but the concern of this boy momentarily brought her away from her sadness.
"Hai, I'm okay, but I have a friend here who is sick, and they don't know what's wrong with him."
"Oh, I shall pray for him then." she boy smiled.
"Arigato..." she smiled a weak smile, "May I ask, why are you here?"
"I basically live in the hospital..." the boy began to say. He looked down at his hands scarred from
where they had stuck him with so many needles and I.V.'s. "....I have luekimia."
"I should be asking you if you are okay."
"Hai, I'm fine." he smiled, "And I think your friend will be as well....In fact I KNOW he will!"
"Arigato!" she smiled. This boy had given her the hope she had needed, and also made her forget
those wretched thoughts.
"Kagooome!" she heard a voice shouting from behind the doors of the hospital.
"OOPS! Looks like he's awake!" she said scrambling to her feet and ran behind the doors.
"Ja ne!" shouted the little boy, waving and laughing at her raction.
"Ja!" she said as the doors slammed closed.
"Inuyasha!? What's wrong?"
"Thesee...shamatta people are trying to hurt me!"
Kagome let out a slight laugh, "Inuyasha, they need to do that to see what's wrong with you."
"NANI?"
"Look, Inuyasha, I know you aren't used to these things, but just let them do what they need to do
so you can become better.." she said in a voice low-so that only he could hear.
After a few moments of silence, and his still refusing, but he finally gave in with a sigh.
"Arigato Inuyasha...." she smiled wearily.
He grasped her hand with what strength he had in response.
"Ma'am, you must go. We'll come and get you when he's in a room."
"No, dozo....!" he said, grasping onto her hand and the sheet tighter. (A/N: I know he usually doesn't
act this way, but imagine: You have been in the fuedal era, never seen any machines, never been pricked
with any needles, and you end up in a modern hospital, where you are attached to many machines,
and everyone wants to pick and probe you to death *cringes*)
The nurse finally gave in. "Fine, but you MUST cooperate."
"Fine."
A nurse then walked up to him with the needle in hand.
"This will only hurt for a moment..." said a nurse rubbing the crease of his forearm with alcohol,
and stuck him, drawing just enough blood to run a few tests. Inuyasha didn't like this though. When
they stuck him, he winced and grabbed tighter onto Kagome's hand, but she knew it was the fear that
got to him, and not the pain, because he was a hanyou, and his body absorbed much of the pain.
"All done." said the nurse, placing a cotton ball over the spot, and placing a bandage over top.
"That wasn't so bad, right Inuyasha?"
*Sigh*
Kagome just held on to his hand, until he drifted off into a restless slumber
