A Different Story
The Well
Chapter 1
A/N: I'm trying this out saving it using the web page format thing so I'm hoping it turns out ok. I might change all my previous stories into web page format it it's any good! Anyways, this basically follows Inuyasha story line except with a few added things, a few deleted things, a few changed things, and different things! Note, it is going to only follow plot as in encounters, reactions will probably be different. So I hope it's good! Yays!
S/N: My brother sucks, that's all I'm going to type this time. My regards.
Disclaimer: We don't own Inuyasha
Kagome was following her grandfather in silence, matching the old man's steps. She had a half smile on her face as she followed the old man back to the shrine.
"Hey Kagome! I got my cute little grand-child a birthday present!" Grandfather suddenly said as he whirled around, holding out a present.
Kagome bowed in acceptance and opened the gift, carefully peeling away the wrapping. She opened it to reveal….. a kappa hand.
"Thank you ojii-san for this present, it has made me happy," Kagome whispered politely as she carefully rewrapped the present and placed it in her pocket.
"Ah, now the mummified kappa hand will bring you much luck! The history behind it is….." Grandfather continued with the history while Kagome listened politely, nodding at all the appropriate places.

The pair walked up the steps to the shrine, Kagome stopping to look at the Sacred Tree that stood in the yard. The tree stood alone, tall and independent, making Kagome always feel like she had some sort of connection with the tree. Shaking the feeling off, Kagome continued towards the house. Her mother inside preparing dinner and Kagome wanted to get a start on her homework, not that she had anything else to do. As she walked towards her house, a voice called out to her.
"Hey sis!"
Kagome turned to find her younger brother waving at her from the well house. Walking over she murmured, "What is it Souta-chan."
"Sis! There's all these sounds coming from inside the well!" the black haired boy answered.
Kagome slowly walked towards the well, aware that the scratching sounds weren't ordinary. Suddenly, the lid of the well moved aside. Souta held his breath, expecting some sort of monster, when suddenly, Buyo, Kagome's fat cat crawled out of the well.
"It was just Buyo Souta-chan," Kagome said, she hadn't been afraid since she had cut off almost all emotions.
Kagome turned to leave when more scratching sounds came from the well.
"Buyo fell in again?" Souta asked nervously.
"Buyo is right here….." Kagome said, starting to feel a little scared before she squashed the emotion.
Suddenly arms came out from the well, crashing through the lids, grabbing Kagome and dragging her into the well.
'What's going on…..' Kagome thought as she struggled against the binding arms.
The arms seemed to shorten and Kagome was brought to face a pale woman with a long body and many arms.
"You have it! The Shikon no Tama!" the pale woman gasped, extending a long tongue to taste the air, "Yes! The jewel! I feel it's power!"
"What are you….." Kagome asked, feeling slightly annoyed at not knowing where she was.
She was answered by the pale woman extending her long tongue and licking her cheek.
Big mistake.
Kagome's eyes went wide as her mind flashed through memories of her childhood incident and she automatically responded with a side kick to the pale woman's stomach. Intense light instantly poured out and blasted the pale woman away.
'….did I do that?' Kagome wondered before she suddenly landed at the bottom of the well.
Standing up slowly, Kagome quickly jumped onto the wall, grabbing a vine to pull her- a vine? That's not right.
Looking at the well more carefully, Kagome found that the entire well was different from when she saw it before. For one thing there were bones at the bottom and the vines had grown into the well. Wondering what was going on, Kagome swiftly climbed up to the top of the well and looked out. And instead of seeing her house, she saw thousands of trees.
'Something's wrong here' Kagome thought, fear gripping her. Then she saw the Sacred Tree, towering over the rest of the forest. 'at least the tree is still here, I'll go there since I know where I am from there'
Kagome quickly walked through the forest, slowing down slightly to admire some of the wild life. When she reached the tree, what she saw made her gasp.
A white haired boy was nailed to the Sacred Tree with an arrow.
'…..I know there wasn't a dead person stuck in the Sacred Tree when I last saw it…..' Kagome thought as she went closer for a better view.
Then she saw the ears. At first, Kagome's first impulse was to run, but then she reminded herself that the boy was dead. Wondering if the ears were actually real, Kagome went forward to touch them.
Poking them a few times and seeing that they didn't come off, Kagome began to rub them, reveling in the softness of it.
"This isn't….. polite," Kagome said as she backed away from the ears.
"What are you doing over there!" a voice yelled at her.
Kagome turned around just in time to see arrows flying at her. Dodging the first two and deflecting a few others with her martial arts, she found herself back up against the boy.
"This is a forbidden place!" the voice called again.
"Are you from another province?" another asked.
Kagome squinted as she tried to make out the forms in the dim forest light.
"I am sorry for intruding on your property, I think," Kagome said, wondering where her shrine went.
"Well, your coming with us for questioning!" one of the men said, grabbing her roughly and tying her hands together.
A shiver went down Kagome's spine as she was reminded of when she had been assaulted in her house.

Kagome sat tied up in the middle of a village, listening to people gossip about her.
"She was found in Inuyasha's Forest?"
"A young girl wearing such strange clothes."
"Could she be a spy?"
"Could be war again"
"Could be a Kitsune in disguise"
Kagome looked around and saw men working on repairing some roofs and horses in a stable, '…..where am I?'
Suddenly people started making way for someone.
"Clear the way! Priestess Kaede-sama is here!" a man called out as he cleared the way for a haggard old woman with a eye patch over her right eye. She supported herself with a long bow and had a quiver of arrows strapped to her back.
"Who are you and why were you in Inuyasha's forest?" Kaede asked sharply.
'Another weird person….. am I in the past?!'
Kagome was just about to answer when the old woman suddenly looked surprised about something.
"Turn your face this way child, and try to look more serious," Kaede asked softly as she turned Kagome's face.
Kagome tried her best to look serious and tried to figure out why the old priestess seemed to be in shock.
"You look like….. Kikyou-sama….." Kaede finally said.
"I am sorry but I do not know of a Kikyou," Kagome said politely.
Kaede stood up slowly, "Kikyou-sama was my older sister. She was a priestess that protected this village.
********************************************************* *****************************************************************
Because of her uncanny resemblance to Kikyou, for some reason Kagome was let go and now she sat in front of a pot of stew that Kaede was stirring.
"Child, why aren't you eating?" Kaede finally asked as she looked at the still full bowl in front of Kagome.
"I'm sorry but I can not move my arms," Kagome said, stretching her arms out to emphasize her point.
"Ah, sorry," Kaede said, untying her arms.
"Um, I'm sorry but do you know how to get to Tokyo?" Kagome asked, trying to find out as much information as she could.
"I haven't heard of it, is that the province from which you came from child?" Kaede asked.
Kagome nodded, unsure how to respond to that question.
'How do I get back to someplace that these people haven't even heard of…..' Kagome pondered as she lost herself in thought.
Suddenly a sound of a horse echoed through the village. Kagome and Kaede immediately stood up and went outside to see what was going on.
Kagome felt fear when she saw the pale women she had saw before, now as a centipede like giant demon.
"E-evil demon!" one man screamed as he backed away from the monster.
"I-it's her!" Kagome gasped.
The centipede woman noticed Kagome and gasped out, "Give me the Shikon no Tama!"
Kaede looked at Kagome, mouth agape, "You have the Shikon no Tama?"
"I'm sorry, I don't know what you're talking about," Kagome, she was nervous and the emotion was driving her insane with fear.
Some of the village warriors attacked the centipede demon but were quickly crushed by the demon's hard shelled body.
'Wait, she's targeting me! I should lead her away from the village!' Kagome realized.
"I have to lead the demon from the village Kaede-sama" Kagome monotoned.
Kaede was about to protest but a cry of pain cut her off, "Fine my child, we need to drive her towards the dry well."
"I don't know where that is Kaede-sama," Kagome answered, trying to retain the calmness that she had for twelve years.
"It's in Inuyasha forest." Came the reply.
"Which way is the forest Kaede-sama" Kagome asked.
"It is to the east my child," Kaede replied.
"Where the light is coming from?" Kagome asked, following the direction Kaede had pointed to, "Thank you."
'That's where the well is!' Kagome thought.
"WaaaAAAaaAAaIIIiiiiIIiTtttTttt" came a monstrous wail from the centipede demon as chased after Kagome.
"Did that girl just say she could see the light? Normal people can't see it, does that mean she is also a…..?" Kaede trailed off as she chased after Kagome.
********************************************************* *****************************************************************
Inuyasha opened one eye, "That girl, the one that killed me, she's coming!"
********************************************************* *****************************************************************
"I'm don't think I'm going to make it," Kagome murmured as the centipede demon tore through trees right behind her.
