InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Fitting Turn ❯ Declaration ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Inu Yasha or the characters within, if I did there would be alot more romance! So it looks like it's my job to put some in, please read and review!
A/N: I'll be trying this in story style since most people don't like my shifting POVs thing. Please let me know if it works better. Oh and if you think this story should be continued let me know, but I think it pretty much has a definite ending. Happy reading!

"Kagome! No, don't let him control you, you can beat this! Don't listen to him," Inu Yasha screamed as he watched Naraku take control of the miko. He saw her pupils disappear and watched in horror as she looked blankly at him and then turned and proceded towards the white gorilla with her jewel shards in hand. A strange purple aura surrounded her and it grew as she got closer to the enemy.
"Inu Yasha, you must snap her out of it!" Miroku yelled from somewhere in the distance. The group had been fighting demons for hours and when they had finally made it Naraku he stopped pulling out the tricks and released a power so evil that even Kagome could
not purify it. Inu Yasha yelled a millions things at Kagome as she slowly continued her funeral precession towards Naraku, when finally he knew that there was only one way to snap her out of it. He sheathed Tetsusaiga and ran towards her.
"Your pathetic attempts are no use hanyou, she's mine now, " laughed an evil Naraku. Inu Yasha ignored him and quickly approached Kagome. She turned to face him and drew her bow and arrow.
"No Kagome! Don't move, your injuries are too severe," yelled Inu Yasha. But Kagome only continued to stare at him with eyes that saw nothng as she pulled back her arrow and sent it flying straight for Inu Yasha's heart. Surpirsed by the attack Inu Yasha stopped dead in his tracks. Acting quickly, Sango threw her boomarang and stopped the arrow. Inu Yasha used that split second to jump onto Kagome and knock her over. Naraku laughed in amuzement as he watched the group attack Kagome, or at least that's what he thought that he was watching.
Inu Yasha leaned over her and despite her attempt to push him away he clung on. She thrust the dagger, that he had given her earlier into his side, yet he still perserved. He began to whisper to her and though Naraku strained to hear, he was not able to listen to Inu Yasha's proclamation.
"Kagome, I know you don't want this, please come back to me. Come back to where you belong. This will be all over soon and we'll be toether again. Please, come back to me," Inu Yasha cooed as he began to stroke her hair. He continued, holding her tight to his chest, "I love you. I always have and that's why I know we can beat this together. Please Kagome, I'm desperate!" He looked at her beautiful face, though it was covered in blood, he still admired her pure innocence. He knew that she didn't belong under the control of Naraku. He waited patiently and watched as her pupils began to appear and her color began to return to her earlier paled skin. He smiled when she looked at him and saw him, he knew at that moment that he had his Kagome back, and that was all that mattered to him.
She began to speak and even though Inu Yasha tried to quite her, she perservered, "I'm....so......sorr..." Before she could tell him how she felt and how sorry she was for being weak, she fainted. Inu Yasha clutched her limp body one last time, lay her down, and then stood up. He was prepared to do anything to protect he woman he loved. At that instant he had no fears. He redrew his tetsusaiga and yelled, "This is for Kagome," as he ran towards Naraku. Somehow his strength had trippled at least and it can only be assumed that he was running on pure adrenaline coupled with his love for Kagome. He wanted to protect her, he always said he would, and this was the moment of truth.
Naraku expected no threat from the hanyou, but when his eyes flashed red even Narku began to fear him. With one swing he took out Naraku and the entire fortress. He watched it disinteragrate and then without any acknowledgement of further threats, he fell to the ground before even a smile of triumph could cross his lips.
Three weeks later:
Inu Yasha opened his eyes and found himself staring at a smiling Kagome. She had kept his head in her lap and had her hands entangled in his hair, she looked really worried. He sat up and winced in pain, even with his demon blood, his wounds had not healed from the battle. He felt Kagome's hands at his back in an attempt to support him, and smiled. She had always been there for him, tending his wounds without even a thankyou. He then regretted never thanking her for her devoted help.
"Listen Kagome, thankyou for all that you've done for me. I...I'm sorry I've been such a jerk."
"Inu Yasha," she whispered, "It's all I could do in return for the person who has protected me for two years, I should be the one thanking you." When she said that he turned to face her and saw tears well up in her eyes.
"Now, Kagome, why do you have to go and do that for?!?"
"I...*sniff*...was so worried about you!...You....you...." and with that she burst out in tears. Inu Yasha smiled at her kindness and how it shone out from her so obviously.
"....You....BIG JERK!" She slapped him and he clutched his face in awe and wonder. "Don't you ever do that to me again! Do you know how worried I was? You could have gotten yourself killed!" She collapsed into his chest and began to sob as she clutched his shirt desperately as if he was going to leave. Inu Yasha smiled down at her as he put his face in her hair and inhaled her scent and then put his arms around her to comfort her.
'This is should it always should have been, if only I had told her how I felt sooner! Maybe before the moment I thought I was going to die.' He laughed at his thoughts and silently comforted the woman he loved. Though he was very happy at that exact moment he knew that later there was going to be a difficult talk. They may have defeated Naraku but now they had the jewel and a wish to make.
He knew the decision he was going to make and the things he had to give up in order to do so. He had made promises and he had to keep them. He cherished the time he had with Kagome because he knew that after their talk that their lives would probably never be the same. And so they sat there for a long time, wrapped up in each others' arms, enojying the joys of beginning romance, each upset about a different set of problems. While Kagome's were set in the past, Inu Yasha knew that the future was going to be even harder.
