Chapter 7- the Escape

 

 

 

At the stroke of Midnight, Kagome peaked out of her room. She looked left and right then stomped her foot to make a loud enough echo so that anyone that was awake would hear. Of course, no one was awake, not even the guards. She could tell because of the loud snoring noises they made. She was lucky tonight.

 

Kagome motioned for the group to follow her into the ball room. Sango snuck out of the room with a cloth bag of blankets, so that if they had to travel a real long distance, they would be able to sleep comfortably. Miroku came out with a bag of food that they had collect secretively that day. Sesshoumaru just walked out.

 

The group sneakily passed Naraku's ginormous room and down the hall to the gigantic door that blocked their escape path.

 

A guard slept peacefully beside it, drooling heavily on his armor. Kagome told Sesshoumaru to push the door open since he was the strongest. Unbelieving that he could do it with his powers gone, realized that not all of it had been taken away. `Seems the Miko slacked off because of fatigue' Sesshoumaru's thought. He smirked. Sesshoumaru pushed the door open with ease and the group scrambled inside.

 

The ball room was huge and fantastically stunning. Kagome had never been inside here before, and now she understood why: Everything was prepared for and wedding as if it were to occur the next day. Kagome was shocked and appalled by this and stopped walking. Everyone turned to her.

 

“You alright Kagome?” Sango asked, seeing her friends face in complete shock. “That bastard!” Kagome whispered. “He thought he could get away with this?” She pointed to everything around her. “Kagome, we don't had time for this, we must go before one of the guards wake up and find us!” Sango said, trying to hurry her up.

 

“This isn't okay thought!” Kagome almost shouted. “Why does he think he can marry some 19 year old girl whom he's never really known and is WAY too young for him? I just don't understand…” Kagome's eyes were tearful as she looked at her hands.

 

Sango gave her bag to Miroku and walked over to Kagome, giving her a friendly squeeze. “Don't worry about it anymore, soon any of us will have to deal with Naraku again.” Kagome looked up at her friend, then to Miroku, and then to Sesshoumaru who's head was bowed, like any loyal servant.

 

“How will we free Sesshoumaru?” Kagome whispered to Sango, knowing damn well how and knowing damn well that Sesshoumaru could hear her. To free a youkai slave, you would have to get his youkai powers back, other wise he's still technically a slave and still has to do whatever his owner says.

 

“Will he ever be free?” Kagome asked. Sango looked to him and smiled, then returned her gaze to her friend. “Of course” Kagome smiled and started walking in front of the group. “Well, what are we waiting for? We just need to go over that balcony and into Shikon Forest and we will be free as a bird!”

 

The balcony was maybe 5 ft from the ground with stairs on each side but Kagome insisted that they jump over it instead of taking the stairs. Sango and Miroku quickly did so, but, because of Kagome's Kimono which ironically, was the only one that was travel worthy, she had to get help getting down.

 

As Sesshoumaru helped Kagome off the balcony, he couldn't help asking “Why not the stairs, Milady?”

 

“To noisy” was her reply as she was set gently on the ground. “Ah” he said, understanding.

 

Everyone turned to the palace which was once their prison, and relished in the sweetness of being almost free. All they needed to do now was to go through the Shikon Forest and no one would ever find them, or even care to look because anyone who ever goes through Shikon Forest, ever comes out…. But, with none of the group worried about it, they hurried into Shikon Forest. Not at all realizing that someone had been watching their escape and wishing them a good luck.

The trees grew twisted together, showing no light from the full moon above, only little snippets of it glowing through the leaves. They continued walking through the forest listening to the sounds of night. They all wanted to get as far away from the palace as possible before they all, except Sesshoumaru maybe, passed out from exhaustion.

 

When they soon noticed the sun climbing high above the trees, they realized that it was noon and that they should probably find some place to rest. They found a small cave that looked uninhabited and rested there. They ate a little, then everyone, except Sesshoumaru, fell asleep. Soon after, because of his powers missing, Sesshoumaru was to tired as well, and fell asleep.

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S GONE?!!!” A furious Naraku screamed at a guard. “Y-your m-majesty, s-she wasn't in her room this m-morning…T-the butler a-and t-the librarian a-are gone t-too, as w-well as h-her s-slave!” The guard replied, stepping back towards the door in sheer fright. “WELL GO FIND HER!!!” Naraku yelled, his temper rising higher.

 

“But sir, they went into Shikon Forest!” Another guard answered, also quite frightened. “I DON”T GIVE A RATS HIDE, GO FIND HER!!!” The guards bowed quickly and dashed out of the room, not noticing Inuyasha who stood by the door, smirking.
