*This is kind of corny, but I don’t own Inuyasha, any copy written characters, and unfortunately ecstasy. For reference: obviously “ “ means dialogue, ‘ ‘ means thoughts, and * * can mean sounds or scene change. A Glimpse of Ecstasy   Chapter 1: The Invitation  

*Beeeep* The buzzer signaling the end of the period rang loudly, startling Kagome from her leisure nap.

‘Aaahhhh. There’s still one more period. I’m already beat. I’ll take fighting youkai over makeup work any day.’ Kagome thought to herself.

Kagome lazily stood and shuffled out of the classroom.

Kagome is just your average 19-year-old girl. A senior in high school, a group of friends, and the ability to travel 500 years into the past. She’s been doing this for the past 4 years, so it doesn’t really faze the normal modern girl.

‘ I just want to go home and relax.’ She sighed to herself. ‘Why do I even bother with school, it just gets harder and harder to keep up with. If only Inuyasha would let me come home more often. Hmmm, Inuyasha.’ She sighed depressed, yet dreamy.

Over the past 4 years she’s had to sit on the sidelines and watch Inuyasha mature physically, yet unfortunately, not mentally. She again sighed dreamily thinking now of how she watched him grow another inch or 2 taller, become more handsome not boyishly cute, and his body become more toned.

Yet through her daydream she can still feel the cold loneliness. She knows Inuyasha cares deeply for her, but it seems more like a sister rather than a lover. The lover title still seems to be hung around Kikyo’s neck. If only she could make him realize that Kikyo can’t be with him, and she is more than willing to take her place.

She still has a few good memories to go off of. Several times he appeared ready to give up on the long lost miko.

*flashback*

“Bitch, I told you to stay back and let me handle it.” Inuyasha scolded Kagome while walking to her surveying her with his eyes and nose for injuries.

“Inuyasha, I’m fine.” She huffed, not quite feeling up to his attitude after the youkai battle. “I only twisted my ankle; I just will take it easy for a little.”

“Damn straight you will.” Inuyasha lifted her abused ankle to his nose to make sure it was only a minor injury.

Kagome couldn’t stifle the giggle that escaped. “Inuyasha stop, I’m fine.” She laughed, trying to reclaim her ankle.

“Hey, I’m just checking, it’s my duty to keep you safe.”

She was a little disappointed that he made it seem so chorely to take care of her, but the underlying protectiveness flattered her. “I know you keep me safe. You’re my big, strong, puppy protector.” After the nice laugh she was in a much better mood, and knew feeding his ego would make Inuyasha happier.

“That’s right.” He puffed out his chest and appeared quite smug. “Hey! Don’t call me a puppy!”

Kagome giggled and reached over and scratched one of Inuyasha’s furry dog-ears. “But you’re such a cute little puppy.”

Inuyasha’s eyelids drooped shut and a low growl, a purr escaped from his chest. Suddenly he reclaimed his senses and smacked her hand away. She jumped a little from his sudden aggressive action, making her ankle twinge with pain. She gasped, and realized she was in pain.

“Are you ok?” He said, now concerned he hurt her.

“I’m fine.” She gritted out, still in pain.

“I’m sorry.” He gently apologized.

Inuyasha’s face shown all of the concern he bottled up for her safety. Kagome just starred, feeling a little guilty about his regret. She noticed how gently he was gazing at her. It was making her heart flutter.

“Kagome.” He breathed out slowly.

Their eyes were locked. Slowly their faces inched closer together. Eyes slowly drifted shut, while noses started to brush together. Hot breath collided in a storm between two pair of near lips. Moments from that perfect show of affection.

“Inuyasha, Kagome. We found the shard that flew out of the youkai.” Miroku called from the distant tree line.

Both faces quickly separated and grew red hot. Neither could look at the other while the rest of the group reached their side.

“Earth to Kagome. Come in Kagome.” Yuka said waving her hand in front of Kagome’s face.

*pulled out of flashback*

“Huh? What?” Kagome muttered dumbfounded.

“We have only been standing here trying to get your attention for like the past couple of minutes.” Ayumi added.

“Oh sorry. I was just lost in thought.” She replied, still dreaming of how good it could feel to kiss Inuyasha.

Suddenly Kagome was yanked into a corner, and the girls leaned in to her for a secret conversation.

“Kagome, I’m having a party tonight. You coming?” Yuka whispered.

“Why are you whispering?” Kagome asked, confused.

“Sssshhhh.” the girls smacked their hands over Kagome’s mouth. She just became all the more confused.

“We’re having a “good” party” Yuka gave a wink at the good part. “There will be some good party favors available.” The girls giggled and hushed themselves. Confusion overwhelmed Kagome.

“What do you mean by party favors?” Asked Kagome.

“Ecstasy.” Yuka stated as if it were the most obvious and normal thing.

“What?!” Again the girls slapped their hands over Kagome’s mouth.

“How did you get that? Are you really going to do that?” Kagome let loose a barrage of questions.

“I have a reliable source, and I most certainly am. I already bought our doses, and my source will have more on sale at the party.”

“I don’t know if I’m up to trying anything like that.” Kagome replied concerned.

“Oh come on. I already have a double stacker for you. And besides, if you take it responsibly, it is relatively safe.” Yuka gave a reassuring smile.

“I still don’t know if I can make it. My mom and gramps wanted me to help out around the shrine tonight.” Kagome lied. ‘There is no way Inuyasha would let me go, even if I wanted to.’

“You need to spend time in a social atmosphere. You stay inside sick almost all of the time.”

“I don’t know, maybe.” ‘She does have a point. I haven’t time with them in a while. Maybe it’ll be fun to let loose, maybe a little extra loose.’

“ok. We WILL see you tonight Kagome.” Yuka stated. All of the girls said their goodbyes, and went off to their final classes.
