InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A Life Unlived ❯ One-Shot ( Chapter 1 )
Inuyasha is owned by Rumiko Takahashi. If you want to sue, you can't sue me. Sue other people, okay? I'm kind of too poor to be sued…
A figure fully clad in a miko's garments sat beneath the Goshinboku. Her long black tresses were tied in a traditional bow and her piercing midnight eyes stared unresponsively forward at the huts surrounding her. The village seemed so alive, unlike her. At her birth, she had been blessed with the gift of a blissful life. Everything had been perfect. She had protected her village, guarded the Shikon no Tama, and…sadly fallen in love with a hanyou.
She had, beyond doubt, loved the hanyou, everything about him. She loved his fluffy, white puppy ears, his stubbornness, his long, silvery mane, and most of all the fact that he loved her just as much as she loved him. To everyone else in the village, it was `disgusting' and `punishable' to even think about a miko with anything other that respect and trust. Inuyasha had not been afraid to cross that line.
In fact, he had even decided to use the Shikon no Tama to become a human so that they could be together. Although the time would be short, it would be worth it just to wake up to each other every morning and spend the rest of their lives together. She loved him as a hanyou, but the villagers would never allow their miko to mate with anyone with even a drop of demon blood. Inuyasha had been willing to sacrifice so many years of his life for her, or so she thought.
When the momentous day came that they had chosen to meet and use the Shikon no Tama, she had stood there just waiting for him to show up. Then, she felt his claws ripping through her body before he flew off, with the jewel in his grasp, to obliterate the village. She had felt so hurt, so betrayed. Every ounce of her love and trust had been invested in him, but she had found that his target had simply been the Shikon no Tama.
She ran after him to call out his name and pin him to the very tree that she sat before…for all eternity. It broke her heart to have to kill him. Even if he had wronged her, he had been her first and only love. She refused to be healed and she joined him in the other world soon after.
Then, her reincarnation had come. The girl pulled the arrow out from Inuyasha's chest and freed him. She could've lived, but she had followed him to death even after he had betrayed her, only to find that he lived on with her reincarnation, not her. A while later, the sorceress, Urasue, brought her out of the death that she never wanted to escape. She killed the sorceress, though.
She was not willing to live watching her reincarnation pine over the love of her life. She would end his life once and for all. She would make him pay for what he had done. Then, she learned that Inuyasha had not betrayed her, but it had all been Onigumo's selfish desires at work. She had tried to kill her reincarnation because she couldn't kill Inuyasha, but she hadn't succeeded. She had purposely waited longer to see if Inuyasha would come to her rescue, which he did. He loved the girl, perhaps, much more that he loved her.
The words of love and promises of protection sounded so hollow from him. Her reincarnation constantly lingered in his mind. She knew, deep inside, that no one could love someone in a body of Earth and ashes. So, now, here she was…not alive yet not dead, hoping to take both Onigumo and Inuyasha to hell with her. It pained her to see herself in this body everyday. It pained her to know that her life partially was intended only to end the life of one that she used o love more than life itself. It pained her most, though, that many who knew about her snubbed her with names such as `Clay Pot'. She hadn't had a decision on what she would become, so why was she forced to pay for it?
Now that she thought about it, though, was any of this Inuyasha's fault? If she truly loved him, she would let him go. She would set him free to find his happiness. Her thoughts were broken when a red blur appeared before her. "Inuyasha?" she asked, startled. The hanyou grinned and sat down beside her. "Are you alright?" he asked anxiously.
Kikyo nodded as she stood and gazed at the small puncture in the trunk of the Goshinboku. Running her hands over the trunk, she began. "Fifty years ago, I pinned you to this very spot…" "The past is the past, Kikyo. Get over it." Inuyasha said in his gruff yet soothing way. Kikyo closed her eyes, her resolve firming. "That's my point, Inuyasha. The past is the past. I was your past and my reincarnation is your future. I am no longer who I was before and I never want to see you again." she snarled. It hurt her to say those words, but it had to be done.
"Wh-What?!" Inuyasha asked "Why so you hate me so much, Kikyo? Why can't you see that I still love you?" "You can live a happy life and have pups with my reincarnation that lives, Inuyasha. I could never love you. My body moves on with only the hate that fills my heart. If I love, would I still live to take Onigumo to the underworld?" Kikyo lied. "Even if I could, I couldn't say that I would want to. My love cost me my life. I will no longer be disrupting you or my reincarnation, for I do not wish to do as Naraku did. Farewell, Inuyasha." she said, beginning to walk away from Inuyasha as her soul skimmers appeared out of the blue to join her.
She felt a clawed hand on her wrist pulling her towards him. "Yes, I so want to mate and have pups. Yes, I do want a happy life, but I want that with you! Kagome knows that my heart is yours. She is a sister to me, but I could never love her as much as I love you! I promised you fifty years ago that I would spend the rest of my life with you and I intend to do that!" he growled, tears glistening in his eyes. Kikyo was taken aback. Inuyasha was on the verge of crying? For her?
"No, Inuyasha, I do not belong in this world anymore. I live only to kill Onigumo. I am a body of Earth and ashes. You are a hanyou. I don't even know what I must smell like to you. I don't know how it must feel to kiss a `Clay Pot'. I want you to be happy." she whispered as her soul skimmers tried to drag Inuyasha away from her.
"Give me another chance. We can kill Naraku and use the jewel to bring you back to life. We could become mates and live together for the rest of our lives." Kikyo shook her head. "The Shikon no Tama was not only found by you. If you do get the whole jewel, it would be absurd to think that the wish would be yours." "The others would understand. Please…stay. I…I could wish that all of the people killed by Naraku could be brought back to life." "The kit's father…" "I'll find a way, Kikyo. For you, I will find a way." Inuyasha murmured as he held Kikyo to him.
A/N: I know that this one-shot sucks and doesn't really have a plot, but I only wrote this because I feel that Kikyo deserves her happiness also. This fanfiction was inspired by…me. If you want to flame it, I really don't care. I believe that this fic was to express MY opinion. If you don't like it, don't read it. No one's holding a gun to your head and forcing you to. Geez…people these days…
Pairings that probably won't happen but I like:
Kik/Inu
-You can tell from my fic.
Kag/Sess
-Well, I just think that opposites attract and that Kagome could break the ice around his heart.
-I don't like Rin/Sess. I think of it as a girl and her father mating. *( @ _ @;)*
San/Mir
-They're the perfect couple!
Rin/Ship
-Hey, they're cute together, alright?
