***This is my edited chapter. I fixed some of the mistakes but I don't know if I got them all. I will be updating the chapters all night***
A/N: This chapter I am a little mean to our dear Inuyasha and Kagome. But thinking of Inuyasha's personality and the way Kagome would react it works out. But don't get mad at me. It will be better I promise. Also sorry it took so long!!
A/N: Words to know for this chapter "obaja" mean "grandma" and Kagome uses it when she addresses Kaeda. Also, most people will know this meaning "gomen" and "gomen nasa" mean "sorry" and "I'm sorry" deeper sense of the apology.
A/N: Now onto the chapter…
Chapter Six
The Prophecy of the End
"Inuyasha, we have to do this," Kagome stated to him as he sat in a tree just inside the Inuyasha forest.
"We should be looking for a way of getting the last shard before Naraku! Or have you forgotten that?"
Kagome sighed and continued in the calmest voice she could, "I don't even think that Naraku is looking for a way of getting the final shard right now. Sorano told me that the youkai that is trying to unseal Ryuzaburo is Naraku, and if Naraku is trying to unseal him, then he is not looking for the shard. What we should be asking ourselves is why is Naraku trying to unseal Ryuzaburo?"
"Keh! If Naraku wants to waste his time trying to unseal that youkai let him! While he is doing that we could get the last shard before him!"
"Inuyasha, it is not that easy! If Ryuzaburo is unsealed the last shard will be the last thing on our minds! He will cover the entire world in darkness and chaos and kill everyone! That is why we are heading to that village; to find where Yuki-chan is!"
Inuyasha jumped out of the tree and glared at Kagome, "Look Kagome, our top priority is to get the last shard and then kill Naraku to get the remaining Shikon no Tama and then…"
"You can become a full youkai! I know this already! I can't believe you still want to be a full youkai! Aren't you happy the way you are? I like you as a hanyou and I don't want anything to change about you!" Kagome blurted out. She could feel her face getting warm. She would have turned away if she weren't so mad at Inuyasha for not listening to her reasoning about Sorano.
Inuyasha stood dumbfounded for a moment and then barked "Keh!" and jumped back into the tree.
"Mou!!! Look, we are leaving whether you come with us or not! I don't want this Ryuzaburo unsealed. Every time I think about it, I get strange visions of Miroku, Sango, Shippo, Kaeda-obaja and you all dying! I am tired of seeing it! So I'm going to try and stop this at all costs! I don't want to loose anyone! I don't want to loose you, Inuyasha!! So even if you will not help us, I will fight and I will die, if that means saving you and this world!" With that said Kagome turned around and stormed away from Inuyasha, who had taken up his former position in the branches.
Kagome had only gone a few feet away when Inuyasha landed in front of her. Kagome was startled and tripped over her own feet and almost fell backwards. Inuyasha reached forward and grabbed her about the waist and pulled her into himself. Kagome could feel her face getting even warmer as Inuyasha held her tighter to him.
"Kagome," Inuyasha's voice was softer then usually. It was full of care and concern as he continued on. "Don't say things like that."
"Na…nani?"
"Don't ever say that you would die and leave me here. I will protect you Kagome. I will never let anything bad happen to you. I don't want to loose you."
"Inuyasha," Kagome wrapped her arms around Inuyasha's chest and buried her face into him and sighed to herself.
Inuyasha placed his head on top of hers and breathed in her scent. She always smelt so good to him. As long as he had Kagome he could face anything this world threw at him. "Kagome, how long have you been having these visions?"
"There aren't really visions… more like my mind wandering. Sorano sounded so worried about this Ryuzaburo coming back and I could sense how powerful she was. If she was afraid of this youkai then he must be really powerful. I couldn't stand it if anyone died." Kagome buried herself further into Inuyasha's chest.
Inuyasha wrapped his arms more securely around Kagome. She was shaking and he knew that she was thinking about what would happen if any of them did die. He pushed Kagome away and looked into her eyes. They were swimming with tears and she looked like she was trying her best not to let them spill down her cheeks. Inuyasha reached up and cupped her cheek and with his thumb he gently wiped the tears away.
"Don't worry, Kagome. Nothing will happen to any of us. We won't leave you. I won't leave you."
Kagome smiled weakly as she stared into his eyes. Kagome always loved Inuyasha's eyes. They were always so mysterious and beautiful. They glistened mischievously and always made Kagome wonder what he was thinking. Kagome stood up on her tiptoes and leaned her head up to Inuyasha's. She slowly closed her eyes and she felt Inuyasha's breath on her face. "Inuyasha," whispered Kagome as their lips met.
Inuyasha was caught off guard by Kagome's sudden boldness, but the feel of her lips against his own was sending shivers down his spine. It was as if she was sending her power into him and he gladly accepted it as he returned Kagome's kiss. Inuyasha pressed his lips firmly against Kagome's and squeezed her body against his own. Kagome gasped and Inuyasha thrust his tongue into her mouth.
She tasted so unique to Inuyasha. He had never tasted anything as wonderful. Inuyasha rubbed his tongue against Kagome's as he slid his hand down her back and over her bottom. Inuyasha could feel Kagome grasping his kimono tightly with her hands over his chest. Inuyasha released Kagome from the kiss and looked into her face. She was panting and her eyes were only half open. Her face was flush and he was starting to smell her arousal.
Inuyasha slid his hand down her cheek and onto her neck. He slowly tilted her head to expose her neck. Inuyasha licked his lips hungrier as he bent down and nipped her neck causing her to moan out in pleasure. Inuyasha licked where he had just nipped her and continued down her neck. Her scent was driving him over the edge. She was becoming very aroused which was causing Inuyasha to become aroused and he had to work extremely hard to keep his youkai blood from claiming her.
Inuyasha reached the crook of Kagome's neck and shoulder and took her flesh into his mouth. She moaned out and thrust her whole body into him. He ran his fang over the flesh that was in his mouth as he sucked on the most sensitive skin on her neck.
"Inu…Inuyasha," moaned she as she wrapped her arms around Inuyasha's back.
Inuyasha pulled away and looked at the mark that he had left on her flesh. Kagome was panting and the mark was a deep red almost purple colour. Inuyasha knew that Kagome would bear that mark for a while and he grinned inwardly. She took this opportunity, since Inuyasha had his head lowered, to reach up and nip the base of his ear. Inuyasha growled slowly at the feel of it.
Kagome could tell that Inuyasha liked this. She continued to nip up his ear causing Inuyasha to growl in an almost purring sort of way. When Kagome reached the tip of his ear she pulled into her mouth and massaged the soft pink flesh of his ear with her tongue. Inuyasha moaned out, "K…Kikyo…"
Kagome's eyes shot open and she stopped what she was doing instantly, pulling away from Inuyasha. "Wh… what did you just say?"
It took Inuyasha a minute to regain himself, and then it hit him what he had just said. He opened his mouth to try and say something but he couldn't think of anything. And from looking at Kagome's face, he didn't know if there was anything he could say. He couldn't for the life of him figure out the expression on Kagome's face. She looked angry, hurt, close to tears, close to killing him, close to yelling… Inuyasha had a feeling that "osuwari" was coming.
Kagome pushed herself away from Inuyasha and just stared at him. She moved her mouth wordlessly trying to think of a response to what had just happened.
He just called me Kikyo! thought Kagome. I finally get the courage to kiss him and he kisses me back. But he was thinking of Kikyo not me!! Does he really not care for me at all that way? Does he still look at me and think of Kikyo? Tears were now running down her face.
Inuyasha watched as Kagome stood in front of him, tears running down her face. He couldn't believe what he had just muttered. Now Kagome was hurt and crying, and the worst of it all was that she was not yelling at him like she usually did. He was expecting to be at least four feet into the ground by now.
"Ka.. Kagome?" whispered Inuyasha.
Kagome lowered her head and hid her eyes with her bangs "Don't talk to me, Inuyasha."
"Wait Kagome," Inuyasha started but she looked up just then, and her face made him want to hug her closely to him. She looked devastated. She was beyond yelling. Tears were constantly streaming down her face.
"Don't talk to me, Inuyasha. I don't want to here your voice. I'm tired… I'm tired of it all…" Kagome's voice was eerily calm which scared Inuyasha completely. Kagome turned and started walking down to the village. Inuyasha made to follow her but then he heard Kagome's voice, "Leave me alone."
Inuyasha stopped dead in his tracks as he watched Kagome walk back to the village.
***
Kagome walked slowly back to the village. Tears were streaming down her face. She couldn't get them to stop. I always told myself that I wasn't Kikyo's copy, that I was my own person. No matter how many youkai or people told me I was just Kikyo's reincarnation or that I looked just like her I never believed it. As long as Inuyasha was on my side in believing that I was me, and not Kikyo, I could handle it. But now Inuyasha thinks of me as Kikyo as well. Kagome stopped dead as what she just thought washed over her. Inuyasha thought of her as Kikyo.
"Will you ever love me, Inuyasha?" Kagome stated aloud.
"Kagome…"
Kagome jumped when she heard someone call her name. She quickly reached up and wiped the tears from her face. Kagome slowly turned around and saw Kaeda standing a few feet behind her.
"Kaeda-obaja."
"Are you alright, child?" Kaeda asked as she walked closer to Kagome.
Kagome knew that she looked like crap. She had been crying ever since she left Inuyasha. She knew that her eyes were puffy and red but she wasn't going to let Kaeda in on what had happened. She didn't even know if she was going to tell anyone.
"Hai," Kagome replied and smiled weakly. Kaeda tilted her head to the side and was about to say something when Kagome interrupted. "Did you need something, Kaeda-obaja?"
Kaeda shook her head and replied, "Yes, child. Would you come with me? I need to show you something before you leave."
Kagome followed Kaeda. She didn't pay attention to where they going. She was too busy trying to stop herself from thinking about what had just happened with Inuyasha in the clearing. Her mind was still racing and she didn't snap out of it until she heard a door sliding open. Kagome blinked and realized that they were standing in front of the temple that Sorano and Sesshoumaru had built.
"Kaeda-obaja, what are we doing here? I thought that I already had all the scrolls and parchment that I was going to need to train while we traveled."
"Indeed child, you do. However, there is still something that you need to see before you go. Follow me, please," stated Kaeda as she entered the temple.
"Hai," replied Kagome and followed Kaeda into the temple. She only stopped for a moment to close the door before chasing after Kaeda to the very far end of the temple. Kagome and Kaeda came to stop in front of the mural of Sorano and Hitomi. Kagome really liked this painting. They were both wearing clothes that looked like they could have been from her time. Even Hitomi was wearing very lavish armour that didn't suit this era.
"Kagome, the reason I asked you here is because there is something that you need to know before you go. Kikyo-oneesama was unable to enter this room, but I believe that you will."
"What room?" Kagome asked as she looked around. The temple was only made of a single room and they were standing in it. Kagome couldn't see any doors that would lead to other rooms.
"The room in which I speak of was created by Hitomi-sama. This room is protected by Hitomi-sama's miko powers, and even though she is no longer a part of this world, her powers are still keeping it hidden. I only know of this room because my mother told me about it. My mother believed that it was Kikyo-oneesama that was to enter, but she could not." Kaeda turned and looked at Kagome, who had a very confused look on her, before she continued, "You are the one that was meant to enter this room, Kagome. I know this because Sorano has come to you, and Hitomi-sama was the miko that fought along side Sorano. If anyone can get into this room, it will be you."
"But I am just Kikyo's copy. If she could not get into this room, then surely I will not be able to get in either," stated Kagome. She could feel tears stinging the corner of her eyes again.
"What did you just say, Kagome? You are not Kikyo-oneesama's copy! You are who you are. You are turning out to be a very powerful miko, child. You are much more powerful than Kikyo-oneesama; don't ever let yourself believe that you are just a copy. You are Kagome. Never forget that."
Kagome could feel the tears running down her face. Kaeda-obaja is right! I am Kagome! I am no ones copy! Stupid Inuyasha and stupid me for thinking that was true. I am who I am and I will not live in someone else's shadow! Kagome smiled at Kaeda. "Arigato Kaeda-obaja! What do I need to do?"
Kaeda smiled at Kagome, "Alright, it is said that Hitomi-sama hid away a great secret within this temple and not even Sesshoumaru was able to get at it. Hitomi-sama said that one day a sacred miko would come along and unlock the secrets within. I believe you are that said sacred miko, Kagome. I believe this because Sorano has chosen you to be her messenger. The room is hidden behind this painting. Now I will leave you alone for it will not open if others are around. Whatever is in the room was meant for you and only you.
`I will inform the others that you will be joining them shortly. I take my leave now, child." With that said Kaeda walked through the temple and left. She closed the door behind herself and Kagome listened to her footsteps until she couldn't hear Kaeda anymore.
"How am I supposed to get into this room?" Kagome thought aloud as she turned her head back to the painting and gasped. It had changed. The colours were swirling and whirling together creating a type of portal. Kagome stared at it in complete awe. I guess I won't have to do anything, thought Kagome.
She walked a little closer to the painting and reached out her hand. Kagome still didn't have a clue as to what she was really suppose to do. As Kagome's fingers got closer to the painting she noticed that it started to change into a sort-of normal looking wall, except that there was a door appearing. Kagome's hand touched the painting and in a flash of light the painting had changed from showing Sorano and Hitomi to looking exactly like a wall with a door in it.
"This is just too weird," Kagome muttered to herself and she slide open the door. When Kagome saw what was behind the door, her jaw dropped. The room was full of maps of Japan. There were paintings of youkai and beside it were what looked like family trees. Kagome walked into the room and slid the door closed behind her. She could see it changing back into the painting. Kagome took a few steadying breathes as she walked further into the room.
More scrolls were covering the few shelves that dotted between the paintings and writings that were on the walls. But what was drawing Kagome's attention the most was the armour that was standing in the middle of the room. It was the most beautiful armour she had ever seen. It was hanging on a female dummy and glistened and shimmered from the torches that were on the walls.
Kagome stopped in from of the armour and took in all in. Around the head of the dummy was a beautiful circlet. It was interwoven and looked almost Celtic in design. Clear jewels were evenly spaced around it, and a single tear shaped fuchsia jewel hung from the center. Kagome's eyes continued to travel down the dummy. Around the neck was a plain fuchsia choker that had two very long ribbons of the same colour and material flowing down from the back.
Kagome looked now at the breastplate. She couldn't figure out what the plate was made of. It didn't look like steel or metal. It was completely white and trimmed in fuchsia. A large round clear jewel sat at the top, directly in the middle. The right side of the breastplate had two shoulder plates. The top plate was very small and a jewel, not quiet as big as the one on the breastplate, was sitting in the middle of it. The second shoulder plate came out of the first one and came down to the elbow of the dummy. A white strap was holding the second shoulder plate to the arm.
On the right hand of the dummy was a strange-looking white leather glove. It only covered the index and middle finger and left the others naked. It took a moment for it dawn on Kagome that this was an archer's glove. The way the glove was manufactured made it easier for the archer to hold the feathered end of the arrow and the straps around the wrist of the dummy made it so the archer's wrist would lock in place for a straighter shot.
Kagome's eyes wandered to the left arm of the dummy. The upper part had two pieces of material that looked to be made out of the same cloth as the choker, draped across the upper arm of the dummy. The forearm was covered in the same kind of armband that Miroku had over his right forearm. This was completely white and was lined with fuchsia, even the clasps were fuchsia with little clear jewels pinning them in place. The forearm band also had a clear jewel embedded in it. This jewel was an elongated diamond shape. The hand it self was left naked.
The chest plate came down to about the naval of the dummy and from the naval to the knees there was no armour. The shins however had shin plates strapped to them. They were pointed at the top and looked just like the chest plate, white and fuchsia. The clasps at the back of the calf were the same as the band on the left forearm. A round clear jewel was placed at the tip of each shin plate.
"Wow…" was all Kagome could say. The armour, Kagome realized, was the armour that Hitomi wore in the painting. Except that this armour was white and fuchsia, and the armour that Hitomi was wearing was white and deep blue. This puzzled Kagome for a little while until she realized that the others were waiting for her. She should have asked Kaeda what it was that she was to be doing in this room.
Kagome walked around the armour and stopped in front of a large scroll hanging on the wall at the end of the room. "The Prophecy," Kagome read aloud.
"What the…"
Kagome looked at the first sentence and started to read aloud:
"The Prophecy"
"Darkness will once again rain over this world. Light will once again reign over this world. They will be evenly matched in power and strength. No victory shall come for the two forces for they only balance each other. However one will rise that is brighter than the brightest Light and darker then the deepest Darkness. She alone will stand and face the army of chaos. By her power alone the world will cleanse itself.
"The Sacred Miko will walk this world though she is not a part of it. She will cross time and come to this world unbeknownst to even herself. Her hair is blacker then the darkest night and her spirit is stronger then all those who have come before her. She will don the armour of the light realm and none will surpass her skill.
"A time will come when the Sacred Miko must make a choice. She will either have to let the darkness reign over this world or sacrifice herself and live within the light of the after life. This choice is hers alone, and none will be able to make it for her. When the time comes she will be alone in her quest. The Sacred Miko Kagome must make the choice."
"The Sacred Miko Kagome…" Kagome could feel her heart racing. She was mentioned in this prophecy. This prophecy was written over sixty years ago, and she was specifically mentioned in it.
"There's no way that I am the one that this prophecy is talking about!" Kagome reread the scroll and everything pointed to her. "She will cross time and come to this world… Her hair is blacker then the darkest night…"
Kagome fell to her knees with her hands over her mouth. How can this be happening? I went from being your average high school girl to crossing time to having the Shikon no Tama within me to shattering it to having to search for the pieces, to now becoming some prophesied sacred miko. Kagome sat in silence for a while and let her thoughts of what she read wash over her.
Kagome looked up at the prophecy and then shook her head. When she looked to the left she noticed, for the first time, a golden pew standing to the left of the prophecy. Kagome got shakily to her feet and walked over to it. Sitting on top of the pew was a white leather-bound book. The script on the top was written with deep blue, metallic writing.
"Hitomi awoun chichiro Amie…" Kagome sounded out the words and had no idea what they meant or if she even pronounced them right. The book flew off the pew and started to glow the same deep blue as the writing. "I… I guess I read it right…" muttered Kagome.
The whole room lit up with the light and Kagome had to cover her eyes. Slowly the light diminished and Kagome slowly opened her eyes. The book was no longer floating in front of her. In its place was an earring. It had a large clasp that attached to the ear, three golden beads hung from it, and attached to those was a beautiful tear-shaped deep blue jewel.
"I have now seen everything," stated Kagome as she reached her hand out to grab the floating earring. As soon as Kagome's hand touched the jewel it shot at her left ear. Kagome was totally thrown off by the sudden movement and didn't have time to move out of the way. She felt a sudden pain in her left lobe as the earring pierced her ear. The pain didn't last long and soon Kagome could feel the weight of the earring hanging off her ear.
She slowly raised her hand to her ear and felt the earring that now hung there. She ran her fingers gently over the jewel and felt that it was getting warm.
"Kagome."
Kagome jumped when she heard her name and looked around the room. No one was there and yet she was sure that she had heard someone call out her name.
"Kagome?" said that voice again.
"Who's… Who's there?" asked Kagome timidly.
"My name is Hitomi."
"Hitomi… sama…"
"Yes Kagome, it is I, Hitomi. When you read aloud the incantation on my book it activated the memories that were sealed away within."
"I don't understand," Kagome was starting to feel a little dizzy.
"I will be as quick as possible, so please do not interrupt. The longer I speak to you the more energy of yours I use. First off, the prophecy that you read upon the wall was a vision that I had for over two years. I kept seeing you in my vision battling against the darkness. I didn't know your name until I was finally shown the end of that vision. Someone called out your name as you fell. I awoke from my dream and realized that the miko within that vision was not I but you. That is when I decided to write down the prophecy and erase it from my mind so that Ryuzaburo would never learn of your coming.
`I also sealed away my memory in that book and had it transform into this earring when you would read out the incantation scripted upon the cover. Secondly, the armour that is in this room is yours. After I erased the visions and sealed my memory within this earring the armour that I bore started to change to the armour that now lives within this room. You see Kagome, the armour is not of this world. It was created by Sorano in the Light Realm to amplify the physical powers of a miko. The armour blessed me by allowing me to don it until your coming. The armour, you will notice-" Kagome turned around and looked at the armour "-matches the energy signature that you give off."
Hitomi was right. The armour was lined and decorated in fuchsia. That is the colour that her spirit arrows would turn when she used them. The armour had changed its appearance to match her signature. Kagome could feel herself being weak in the knees and used everything she had to stay standing.
"Finally Kagome, in order for you to don the armour you must allow yourself to realize and accept that you are a miko and you are the sacred miko. When you realize this, your powers will fully awaken. Though you will be untrained and your powers will be raw, but that is where the armour comes in. It will channel your miko powers and keep them from hurting you and others while you learn to control them on your own. The armour will also react to your body. It will fit you perfectly and will mold itself to you no matter how you move.
"Also, the armour contains within it a quiver of arrows, a bow, and a katana. These items will show up when you are in need of them. All you have to do is concentrate and they will appear. Once your miko powers are fully trained they will remain on you at all times."
Kagome fell to the floor panting. She was exhausted. She was about to pass out when she felt a rush of energy. Kagome could no longer hear or feel the presence of Hitomi. She slowly raised her hand to the earring and the jewel was cool to the touch. Hitomi couldn't tell her anything more or she would have passed out. "Arigato, Hitomi-sama." Kagome sat on the ground catching her breath.
After a few minutes she looked up at the armour. She slowly got to her feet and walked around the armour so she was standing in front of it. Kagome raised her hand to the chest plate and ran her hand over it. The armour pulsated at Kagome's touch. It wanted to become a part of her. Kagome bit her lower lip and pulled her hand away.
"This is just getting more and more confusing. Me? The sacred miko? I have enough problems convincing myself that I am a miko at all." Kagome sighed and went back to her thoughts.
Well, I was born at a shrine. Wait a minute; now that I think about it I was born at this shrine! This is where my family's shrine ends up being. This armour is sitting where my room in my house would have been. I was born a miko… Kagome furled her brow as she continued to think about it. I am a miko! Kaeda-obaja always said that I had powers that Kikyo did not. Though I am her reincarnation, I am not her. I had the Shikon no Tama within my body and I actually used the power of it without even knowing it. Miroku-sama also said to me that I am able to purify the most powerful youki without even thinking about it! Could I really be the sacred miko?
Kagome closed her eyes and calmed herself. She could feel her miko powers swirling around herself. She didn't even notice when she started to float off of the ground. Her energy was swirling throughout the room. The armour was also starting to glow the same colour as her energy. Kagome wrapped her arms around herself and hugged her body tightly.
"I…" Kagome started to shoot waves of energy off, and they hit the walls of the temple causing them to shutter slightly.
"I am…" The waves of energy started to build in strength. They were hitting the walls of the temple with such force that dust was being knocked from between the planks of wood. The ground even started to shake.
"I am the Sacred Miko!" Kagome's whole body exploded with energy. Even her skin was glowing a bright fuchsia. The energy waves coming off of her body shattered the room and the ground shook from the intensity of her power. The armour erupted with power as well. It blow apart the dummy and sent splinters of wood everywhere.
Kagome's uniform ripped off her body from the onslaught of miko energy that she was giving off. The armour changed into balls of fuchsia light and started to fly around her body. Kagome's body gave off another shot of energy as she released her hold on herself and arced her back as her head fall back. The balls of light, that were the armour, started to fly faster and faster around Kagome as it merged with the energy that she was giving off. As they flew around her they started to get closer and closer to her naked body. Kagome flowed up and out of the temple and was now floating about thirty feet above the temple.
With one finally thrust of energy the armour connected with Kagome's frame and engulfed her whole body into a pulsating glowing fuchsia orb of energy. Every time the orb pulsated a wave of energy shot off of it and left a great gash in the ground. Kagome started to scream out in pain as the waves of energy increased. Everything around her slowly faded to black as darkness took her.
