Kagome was quite beyond complaining at this point. In fact she didn’t even seconded guess her choices, when it came to the quest. If there was a lead, it had to be fallowed, no matter how small. So she left her family to once again celebrate without her. This time it was Tanabata that she was missing. It made her feel guilty, the way her mother had looked so disappointed when she started packing her bag.

Kagome smiled recalling how her mother hadn’t said a thing and told her she would take care of the packing. Saying something about how she should rest as much as she could while she was home. She loved her mother for all her patience. She wanted to make her happy, and she knew that being there would have made her happy. Yet here she was miles and miles away from the well sitting with her depressed and tired friends in yet another Naraku devastated village.

“Damn that Naraku! He’s such a slimy bastard, always slipping away out the back door and leaving his mess behind.” Inuyasha was seething, but there were no words she could come up with to comfort him. All she could do was sigh as she watch the villagers scrounge together what was left to try and celebrate. She imagined they needed to release after the destruction of the past week. She wished she could too.

Her emotions were getting the better of her; she didn’t need the self pity now. Not when so many examples of worse situations where glaring her in the face. Some homework would do nicely, but first to find a quiet place.

“I’m going to go finish some school work, I won’t go too far so you guys don’t have to worry” She said as she stood up to leave. Inuyasha acknowledged her with a nod, while the rest gave her more vocal parting. She picked up her bag and hoped down from the little wooden walkway and headed out of the little courtyard toward the tree line.

Inuyasha watched her progress, internally cursing her stupidity. ‘Why does she always have to go strait for danger’ outwardly the words that came from his lips where, “Keh, stupid girl.” Inuyasha himself was the next one to stand up and leave. He didn’t give an explanation, because he knew that his noisy companions would know where he was going and why. “Lousy no good ease droppers” he muttered as he fallowed Kagome’s path to the woods.

The further into the woods he walked the angrier he became. ‘Damn that girl’ his internal blistering continued until he reached her spot and found kneeling in front of her bag. He heard the smallest of snuffles and all thoughts of lecturing her left him with a heavy sigh. ‘Double damn’, preferring his upright position and still trying to figure out if it was his fault some how, he waited to confront or comfort her.

Kagome hugged the beautiful handmade red yukata like she wished she could be embracing her mother. She tried to be strong, to not let her petty disappointments get to her. She tried to once again rationalize away her homesickness. There were more important things to deal with then a little party back at home. But it just didn’t work.

Damn him, destroying lives and slinking off like a coward after he’s done. Why couldn’t they catch him? What were they doing wrong? Of course it wasn’t simply that she couldn’t spend a holiday with her family. The frustration of once more getting so close to finishing him off then lose him again in the end, was beginning to play on her confidence. It all seem to spiral down emotionally, she needed a release. So as she sat there holding her clever loving mothers gift and cried.

After standing there for what felt like forever but was probably only a few moments, Inuyasha could find no reason he could have caused her to cry. “Hey” He said ready to defend himself if he had to. She jumped at the rude announcement of his presence. He was standing in his ‘I didn’t do shit’ pose with his red draped arms crossed, and his familiar yet strangely comforting scowl in place. “Why are you crying?” He asked as he watched a leftover tear slip down her cheek.

As if called forth by the mention of her previous bout of tears they sprang back up with a vengeance. She wanted to stop but for some stupid reason they just escalated until she found herself rapped in his embrace. She was so rarely held by him this way that she was shocked quiet instantly. She heard his murmurings of “Hey, hey…don’t cry, and I’m here.”, and he was here, she wondered why she let herself forget for even a moment. He was with her, she wasn’t alone.

She felt more tears leak from her eyes, but they pulled up a warm feeling in her chest as well. It seemed to resonate with the heat of his strong heavy arms. She stood still in his arms, the sensation born from the love she kept unspoken and warmth she could feel radiating from his body spread from her chest to her hands and her cheeks. She nearly lost her chance when he started to pull away, but rushed forward grabbing the back of his red haori using it to pull him back. Like a magnet to strange little valentine’s bears, she clung to him. She held him like she was afraid he was going to leave and never return. “Don’t let go!” She cried.

“Kagome?” He pulled away to look at her. She grabbed for the front of his robes holding them as desperately as she was looking at him now. New tears were forming at inside corners of her eyes. He could see the desperation, but he didn’t know what she wanted from him. Before he could question her again she pulled herself forward and kissed him full on the lips. No hesitation, no modest soft touches. Just raw hard pressure of her lips to his. His own sensation were brought out of shock with the warm moist breath of his would be lover fanning over his mouth.

Lust hit him dirty like a low hard punch to the gut. With a low vibrating “Mmmm” He pulled her back to him and reciprocated her kiss with one of his own. They clung to each other now, hands massaging each others backs as if they were trying to push together into one body. Kagome opened her mouth to breath but didn’t move away from the kiss. Inuyasha could taste her breath, and allowed himself to taste her mouth. The tip of his hot wet tongue touches hers, sliding along the top and back down the sides. Each movement signals her body to react without her command, moans, the slide of her leg up the outside of his; her body unconsciously instigating deeper contact.

They both indulged in the kiss until they were both out of breath from sharing the air for so long. Once they had let each other go, there heads came back to the ground somewhat. Kagome picked up the red yukata that she’d dropped, turning to Inuyasha, “Let’s celebrate with the village, it would be a shame to not wear this for Tanabata, my mother went to a lot of trouble to make it.” Inuyasha just nodded his head, still somewhat in a daze; they had planed to leave in the morning anyway. He starred at her, kind of in shock; he didn’t see the look he was getting from the girl, “Hey! Just because…” She fumbled, “Ooh would you just go a little ways off so I can change, then we’ll go back to the others.” Kagome patted her loafered foot on the ground until Inuyasha was past her sight, smiling at the grumbling she could hear as he walked away.
