Kagome ran straight for the village that she knew her Feudal Era friends would be staying at. She couldn’t wait to see Shippou or Sango, but InuYasha was the one that made her want to run. InuYasha was the half-demon that needed her help to find the Shikon Jewels, but he also was the one that she knew she had feelings for, even if she sometimes denied it.

Reaching the small hut that housed her reflection’s sister Kaede and all of her much missed friends, Kagome slowed to catch her breath. Shifting the weight of the heavy bag, Kagome smiled as she thought of the happy faces that would greet her.

It’s been too long since I last saw them all. I hate final exams, but I am glad that I am finally finished with school for the summer break! Kagome sighed.

Stepping inside the small hut, Kagome shouted, “Hi!!! I’m back!”

Shippou was the first to react. Jumping up and down, then into Kagome’s arms, Shippou laughed. “Kagome! You’re finally here, we were beginning to wonder if you were ever going to come back. And InuYasha keeps acting all mad, but we know that he really just misses you. What did you bring back with you? Any of that tasty food you call Ramen?” Shippou’s overwhelming enthusiasm made everyone else laugh. Everyone except InuYasha, who was not there.

“Where is InuYasha?” Kagome wondered aloud.

“We do not know. We were in the middle of discussing the next place to search for the Shikon shards, and he suddenly sniffed the air and took off. That was three days ago. No one has seen him.” Sango offered.

“I know where he is, but I do not think that it is time for ye to know yet.” Kaede simply said from the other side of the small fire. “Welcome back, young Kagome. I think that we need to have a small talk in private, for there are a few things that ye should know before-“

“Before what old woman?” InuYasha demanded from behind Kagome. Startled, Kagome jumped out of the way and moved quickly to sit beside Sango and Kirara.

“Ye know of what I speak, InuYasha. Ye should be the one to tell her.” Kaede’s strange response puzzled the others, but InuYasha only glared and made his usual “Feh” comment.

“What took you so long, woman? You know damned well that we have yet to complete the Jewel and you take too long to come back? How selfish! Well?” InuYasha glared at Kagome.
