A Miko's Reflection

She was the last, as always. Bringing up the rear was nothing unusual, under the circumstances. Everyone else was much stronger, quicker, lighter on their feet, just about anything else you could imagine.
 
But they all looked to her for guidance, compassion when they needed comforting, and her healing touch. In this, she knew the importance of her presence in their small group. She only hoped to see the day when everyone would be able to rest easy, not having to worry about jewel shards or demons attacking at random.
 
For now, she was content to be the straggler simply because she knew they wouldn't go too far ahead, although not without a few snide comments from Inuyasha.
 
Speaking of whom…
 
“Well, come on Baba, we ain't got all day to wait for your sorry old ass!”
 
“Inuyasha! Sit boy!”
 
“Nay child, `tis quite all right. I know he doesn't truly mean it.”
