“Inuyasha,” Miroku called up as he looked at his hanyou friend sitting up in the tree with his brother, Kagome and the pups.

There was a soft whooshing sound and a dull thump when Inuyasha alighted on the ground beside the monk. Inuyasha raised a black brow as he waited for his friend to say whatever it was he came to say.

“The youkai we've been searching for has been spotted by one of the villagers - Sango and I went into the village after breakfast this morning and talked to the inuyoukai village below.” Sesshoumaru appeared next to his brother at the monk's comment, leaving Kagome and the pups in the tree. “One of the village's warriors - Mitai I believe her name was had seen the youkai. It's not worm or snake. It's a water dragon youkai…and it breathes fire just like its land cousins.”

“Fuck,” Inuyasha said and Sesshoumaru eyed him, the look in his golden orbs mirroring his brother's sentiment.

“Have you ever gone against a dragon youkai before brother?” Sesshoumaru asked as Shippou, in his pink bubble form, floated down from the tree and `poofed' back into his normal form, Kagome holding Rin dropping to the ground on their feet.

Kagome moved to stand between the brothers, Rin still on her hip and Shippou perching on her shoulder. She leaned against Sesshoumaru as she waited for Inuyasha to answer, her hand on his arm as she looked at him in concern. She remembered how injured he had been after facing the large land and air dragon youkai last year. He had been burned horribly and several of his bones had been broken before he'd finally been able to use the wind scar and kill the youkai.

“We've fought a land dragon youkai before,” Kagome said when Inuyasha failed to answer. “It was a bad fight. It took Inuyasha nearly a week to recover,” her voice soft and sad as she remembered that time. “He wasn't fully recovered when we had to fight its brother.”

Inuyasha cringed at the memory of the youkai and the fights. The pain had been unbearable, Kagome finally convincing him to take something called demurral that her mother had gotten for him. It had numbed the pain as well as his senses, but he'd finally been able to sleep without pain.

Kagome stepped forward and wrapped her free arm around Inuyasha's neck as she stepped into his arms, leaning her head down to nuzzle his neck. She didn't know why, but she knew almost instinctively that that move alone would bring him comfort. Inuyasha returned her gesture and nuzzled her neck as well, Miroku looking on in interest.

“Did the warrior say in which direction the youkai was heading?” Sesshoumaru asked Miroku as Kagome comforted his brother and took comfort in return.

“Here. The youkai's coming here.”

Twenty minutes later the entire group was gathered in Sesshoumaru's study inside the castle. Sango stood near the open door to the study, dressed in her full exterminator outfit with Hiraikotsu strung to her back with Kirara perched on her shoulder. Miroku stood next to her; Shippou perched on his shoulder, staff in hand. Kagome stood leaning against the far wall by the window, her arms crossed over her chest as she watched Inuyasha pace back and forth in front of his brother's desk, looking very much like a caged animal, although one leg moving slower than the other due to Rin sitting on his foot, her arms and legs wrapped around his leg, much to both the child's, Kagome's and his brother's enjoyment. Sesshoumaru in all his calm and collectedness stood on the other side of the window, alternating between glancing at Kagome and watching his brother pace.

They all had originally come into the study to form a plan of attack, but were now standing idly by as the brothers had a battle of wills.

“Look, it don't matter, I've got Tetsusaiga,” Inuyasha said to his brother only to be interrupted by a happy giggle. He looked down at Rin who was happily clutching his leg as she sat on his foot. “You having fun down there kid?” he asked with gruff amusement, and received a giggle and a nod in answer. “Well as long as you're happy,” he grumbled good naturedly and then fixed his sights on his brother once again, his eyes hard and angry. “All I have to do is use the wind scar on the damn thing and it'll be-”

“And if your precious wind scar doesn't work?” Sesshoumaru asked wisely.

“Look Sesshoumaru, I don't need a damn army to do this. We've all done just fine on our own with out one and-”

“And how many times have you had to tend to the wounded before being able to move on after the battle?”

“Damnit bastard stop interrupting me!”

“What does bastard mean?” Rin asked from her seat on Inuyasha's foot.

“Thank you Inuyasha for teaching my pup a new word,” Sesshoumaru nearly growled. Sesshoumaru stepped next to his brother and plucked Rin form her seat on Inuyasha's foot and sat her on the edge of his desk.

Inuyasha simply smirked. “I don't need a damn army!”

A thought struck Sesshoumaru as to why his brother was so adamant about not having his warriors aide them in the fight.

“I'm not calling you weak brother; I'm simply offering my warriors as extra help.”

“Help that I don't need damnit! Look, the shards, their my battle, I decide who fights with us, and your warriors don't. We didn't need any damn armies before and we don't need them now.”

“Alright, brother, if that is what you wish.” Sesshoumaru stepped away from the wall and began to walk to his desk, “Kagome will stay here with the chil-”

“I most certainly will not,” Kagome shouted at him, annoyed at once again being thought of as the weak human girl.

Sesshoumaru turned on her and walked to stand in front of her as she pushed off the wall and stood straight, her back stiff. He backed her up against the wall, one hand on either side of her shoulders, trapping her against the wall.

“Yes you will stay here,” Sesshoumaru commanded feeling a stirring in his loins.

“No I won't,” she shot back her eyes blazing angry fire.

Sesshoumaru couldn't help but take in her appearance. My but she was beautiful when angry. The way her eyes turned the dark blue almost black of summer storm clouds and sparkled as bright as the midnight stars, the way her cheeks heated to that tempting red shade with her anger and he wondered if they would turn the same color in passion.

Sesshoumaru growled at her thinking that his growl would be the end of the argument that was until Kagome growled back. Both Inuyasha and Shippou's attention snapped to Kagome when they heard her growl.

“Uhh, Kagome,” Inuyasha hedged. “I don't think you want to do that.”

“Shut up!” both Sesshoumaru and Kagome shouted at him without taking their eyes off each other.

“You will stay here,” Sesshoumaru said slowly, his voice daring her to argue with him.

“No I won't,” she mirrored the cadence of his voice.

Sesshoumaru growled in impatience. He was prepared for her to yell, he was prepared for her to argue - he wasn't prepared for her to snarl at him. His eyes widened, she was actually snarling, the corner of her top lip curling up showing just a glimpse of her white teeth. Sesshoumaru reacted without thinking it through.

One moment they were staring and growling at each other and the next his lips were crushed against hers, his hands cupping her face as he kissed her. Kagome gasped at the contact and Sesshoumaru took full advantage, thrusting his tongue into her mouth and sweeping it through the dark sweet hot cavern of her mouth. She sighed and fell weakly against him as he ran his tongue over the blunt edges of her human teeth. Kagome kissed him back, her passion matching his as she gave as good as she got. Sesshoumaru felt himself harden at her returned passion and kissed her once more before pulling away with a smug smile.

Ha, that ought to shut her up, he thought with masculine pride.

“I'm going, besides, you need me to locate the jewel shards,” she stated smugly as she stepped away from the stunned taiyoukai.

What? What?! How could she do that? She was just as affected as he was. He knew she was affected by that kiss damnit! He watched as Kagome slung her quiver of arrows over her shoulder and snatched up her bow. She walked toward the door, stopping near Inuyasha and turned her head back to stare at him, daring Sesshoumaru to stop her or argue with her more before she turned and left the room.

Sesshoumaru came back to himself out of his Kagome induced stupor to the sound of his brother laugh. He fixed Inuyasha with a stare that said that he was clearly not amused. His glare only served to make his brother laugh harder.

“Told ya she was stubborn,” Inuyasha chuckled before following after Kagome.

Rin watched on from her seat on her father's desk, an amused grin on her face, though she wasn't sure what Inuyasha found so funny. Her amusement however came from much the same place as Inuyasha's, only for a different reason, she had seen what had happened between her father and Kagome; perhaps Rin would get a mother.

“Kagome wait,” Inuyasha said his amusement still audible in his words.

“What?” Kagome asked as she waited for him in the middle of the hall.

“Where are you going?” Inuyasha asked as he came up next to her and followed along side her as she continued her trek down the hall.

“To change,” she said looking at the kimono she wore. “I'm not fighting in this, and no matter what that pompous arrogant ass says, I'm not staying here. Oh he can be just as frustrating as you.”

“Gee thanks,” Inuyasha said as he followed her into his brother's room.

“Inuyasha.”

“What?” he asked as he sat on the bed.

“I came in here to change,” she said lifting her school uniform from where it lay on the chair next to Sesshoumaru's wardrobe.

“Yeah, me too. You think I'm gonna fight lookin' all prissy?” he asked picking at the silken fabric.

Kagome rolled her eyes and threw Inuyasha's fire rat haori and hakama at him, the hanyou catching both easily. Inuyasha smirked at Kagome when she motioned for him to turn around. She growled annoyed when he simply sat there smirking. Inuyasha rolled his golden eyes and stood from the bed, Kagome confident that he was turning around before he actually did, turned around facing the opposite direction and brought her hands behind her, loosening the knot of the obi tied around her waist.

Inuyasha watched the obi fall from around her, Kagome catching it as it did so and bringing the length of silver silk in front of her to fold into a neat square and sit on the bed. She gasped when she turned around and saw Inuyasha standing and staring at her. In her shock she failed to notice the parting of the kimono and how the long robe hung open revealing her white lace bra and panties to the hanyou's gaze.

Inuyasha gave a choked moan at the vision she made and felt a certain part of his anatomy grow hard at the sight. Her flat toned stomach, her long muscular legs that he knew so well from carrying her on his back. The kimono had only parted slightly and while it revealed her charms, it did so in such a way as to only hint at the true beauty that lay hidden beneath its confines, making her all the more alluring.

Kagome's storm blue eyes were fixed on Inuyasha as she stood still as stone like a deer in headlights. Inuyasha stepped forward, coming to stand directly in front of her, not an arm's length away and caught her waist beneath the kimono in his hands. He dragged her to him, pulling her body flush against his as his lips crashed down on hers, kissing her with just as much passion as his brother had done earlier.

Kagome moaned, how many times had she imagined this? How many nights had she dreamed of kissing Inuyasha? Oh her dreams were nothing like this. This was…there was no describing this. It was like fireworks and new snow, running and standing still in a rushing stream, screaming and whispering all at once. It was everything and nothing, a new feeling and yet something wholly primal and instinctual.

So caught up in the kiss was she that she didn't notice him slide his hands over her shoulders, causing the kimono to fall to the floor in a pool of silk around her feet. Kagome kissed her hanyou back with just as much passion as he kissed her with, if not more, their tongue battling in a an age old dance of dominance, passion and pleasure.

Sesshoumaru stepped into the room, his chambers and nearly snarled at the sight of his brother kissing Kagome only moments after he had. She stood there in nothing but strange underclothes and Sesshoumaru had never wanted her more. Somehow though, somehow seeing his brother kiss her though, somehow it seemed right, just as right as it had felt to kiss her himself.

Sesshoumaru stepped up behind Kagome and growled low at his brother, gaining Inuyasha's attention as the hanyou moved his kisses from Kagome's mouth to the side of her neck, grazing her skin lightly with his fangs as both brothers smelt her unique sent light with passion and arousal.

*Share* Sesshoumaru growled in the inu language at his brother.

*One mate, share* Inuyasha answered back.

It wasn't unheard of for youkai brother's, especially brothers with a close relationship to share a mate, though it was hardly heard of for the mate to be human.

Sesshoumaru let his hands fall to Kagome's waist, one of his hands raising to move aside the hair from the side of her neck that his brother wasn't firmly attached to. Sesshoumaru let his mouth fall to her shoulder and trailed wet, nipping kisses from her shoulder up to her neck when Kagome moaned and then suddenly pushed both brothers away from her.

“We have a youkai to find and kill. Men,” she scoffed as she quickly dressed, slipped into her shoes and picked up her bow and arrows, “all they think about is one thing, doesn't even matter if they're not human.”

Kagome left the room, the two brothers staring at the door in bewilderment and then Inuyasha turned his eyes on his brother.

“What just happened?” the hanyou asked in total confusion.

“I don't know,” Sesshoumaru answered back as equally confused.

“There! On its head!” Kagome shouted pointing at the huge water dragon youkai that came rushing at the group of warriors, the pups having been left behind in the care of the palace healer.

“Which head?” Inuyasha shouted back as he looked at the three headed youkai.

“The one in the middle! There are three shards between its eyes!”

“Three?!” Sango shouted as she hefted her weapon, throwing it at the youkai and severing on of its six arms. “I thought there were five?!”

“Uhh no-o-o,” Kagome said as she looked at the youkai rushing toward her, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha on either side and ahead of her, guarding her from its attacks.

“What do you mean no?” Sesshoumaru asked her.

“I mean there are a total of eight. Three on its head, two in each wing, and one on its tail, at the top.”

“Fuck, no wonder this thing's so mutated!” Inuyasha shouted as he slammed Tetsusaiga into the ground, releasing the power of his sword at the youkai at the same time that his brother released a blast of energy at it with Tokijin. The combined blast of power from the swords only served to enrage the youkai and it charged toward them as Kagome loosed an arrow at its head.

The arrow struck and pink purifying energy destroyed the youkai's head sending the three shards back at the arrow's sender, Inuyasha catching the shards in mid air and handing them off to Kagome swiftly.

“It's still moving?” Kagome gasped her eyes wide.

She notched another arrow and pulled back, aiming at the left wing. The arrow struck true and purified the area it hit, falling down through the wing and cutting it off as the shards fell to the ground still embedded in the wings leathery skin. She shot another arrow at the other wing and the same thing happened. The rest of the youkai finally fell to Inuyasha's wind scar and Kagome collected the shards from the fallen bits of the youkai.

Once Kagome had collected and purified the shards and put them in the bottle that hung around her neck with the others, she the inu brothers and Sango on Kirara moved behind Miroku as he released the prayer beads binding his wind tunnel and sucked up the remains of the youkai.

“Raman?” Kagome asked the others as she turned away and began walking back to the palace grounds.

“I could actually go for a real meal myself,” Miroku said as he walked beside Sango, Kirara held in her arms.

“Yes,” Sango agreed, “miso sounds good.”

“I could go with something that has actual real meat in it myself,” Kagome said the inu brothers walking behind the three humans.

“Don't worry,” Inuyasha said to Sesshoumaru as they all headed back to the palace. “You get used to it.”
