7: Revealed Pasts
"When the great Lord of the Western Lands reached age, he was married to the eldest daughter of the Lord of the Northern Lands. The two of them eventually fell in love and decided that before the twentieth year of their reign they would produce an heir.
Thus was born the young Lord Sesshoumaru, destined to rule the Western Lands after his father. For the first fifteen years of young Lord Sesshoumaru's life all was well, then while his mother was visiting her family in the Northern lands, war began. The great Lady of the Western Lands was killed defending her ancestral home from the human army and the great Lord of the Western Lands mourned greatly.
"When young Lord Sesshoumaru turned twenty-nine his father began a campaign to run all humans out of the Western Lands. However, on this campaign several people were killed and to appease the Lord's blood-lust a young princess offered herself up to him, to spare the lives of her family until they could leave the Western Lands.
At first the great Lord of the Western Lands was prepared to kill her, but she lulled him to sleep playing a harp. Every night the great Lord of the Western Lands would go to her intending to kill her, but every night, he would be lulled to sleep. For three years this continued and the humans fled from the Western Lands.
"It was the night of the princess' eighteenth birthday that the great Lord of the Western Lands took her and mated with her. Making her his and marking her so she would be known to all as his. From this mating came the young Lord Inu Yasha.
"It was in the tenth year of young Lord Inu Yasha's life that the human army attacked the Western Lands. Attacking the very heart of the youkai court. Killing the Lady, Mother of young Lord Inu Yasha, claiming she was a traitor and attempting to kill young Lord Inu Yasha, claiming he was an 'abomination'.
Soon after the war began, the great Lord of the Western Lands training his sons to use their powers to their fullest. He died in the battle to protect his sons after they were trapped by fourteen powerful mikos and twenty well-known youkai exterminators. The two sons swore to avenge their father and succeeded in killing the twenty exterminators and thirteen of the mikos.
"Inu Yasha had a personally grudge against the last remaining miko, she treated him like a pet before helping to destroy the great Lord of the Western Lands right before his eyes. He hunted her and in the final days before the Western Lands fell, he was nearly killed, his brother, the great Lord of the Western Lands, rushed to his rescue, but both were captured." Myoga said and I looked at him.
"So…that's what happened to the two of them," I whispered, listening for the slightest sound and smelling for the faintest scent of the males. "But what was their life like, in peace?"
"Well, I…er…don't know if it is my place to…" I grabbed Myoga between my fingers. "Of course with certain motivation…" I settled back into the cold water.
"Still clear," I said.

"The courts before the great Lady of the Western Lands' death were formal and regal, young Lord Sesshoumaru was taught to be calm and cool when in battle. He was educated by the best tutors in all the lands. His own father taught him the ways of war. He grew from a happy puppy into a cool and calm example of royalty. He was a lover of education and would read as much as possible when he could, there was nothing he did not find interesting when on paper.
The courts after the great Lady of the Western Lands' death were calculating and planning, an opportunity to plan against the human dilemma. Young Lord Sesshoumaru demonstrated his great cunning in planning out the attack strategies that would wipe out the pests that destroyed his mother.
The courts after the birth of young Lord Inu Yasha were joyful, two strong male heirs to the Western Lands. The hanyou was beyond charming as a pup. When first born the young Lord Sesshoumaru would not even accept the pup as his kin, rather, treated the mother and son as if they were a burden his father had to bear. Things changed soon after young Lord Inu Yasha began to walk, his first steps were following after the older brother that would not pay him mind. Often using the long hair of young Lord Sesshoumaru for support. The first word that Inu Yasha spoke were Sess-uh-mar-uh and soon the older youkai allowed the younger hanyou to follow him.
The youkai training the hanyou in the world of learning at the request of the great Lord of the Western Lands. Tutoring his younger sibling with a manner equaling any of his tutors. Soon the younger brother wanted to learn to fight, but with the great Lord of the Western Land having to travel the responsibility of training young Lord Inu Yasha, again fell on the shoulders of young Lord Sesshoumaru. The brothers grew close, young Lord Inu Yasha fighting to gain the respect of young Lord Sesshouamru.
Unknown to the brothers the great Lord of the Western Lands had a fang removed and forged by the great swords-smith, Toto-sai, into two brother blades. Tetsusaiga, for young Lord Inu Yasha and Tenseiga, for young Lord Sesshoumaru.
Before the two could be given their blades young Lord Inu Yasha's dame was slain and the young Lord Inu Yasha fell into a deep depression. He ignored all but the consolation of his brother. The young Lord Sesshoumaru sympathized with his brother, even more-so, for young Lord Sesshoumaru understood that now, young Lord Inu Yasha was an outcast by human and youkai standards. Only the dame had truly loved the pup, but now, the brothers held a great bond.
After the death of the great Lord of the Western Lands the brothers received their swords and the two of them began their war on humanity." Myoga gasped after he finished and I sat there looking at the water moving by.
"What a sad story," I whispered and then heard the sounds of several hunters. "Go into my hair, I'm going for a swim." Myoga moving into my hair quickly, before I dove under the water and let the current carry me.
