A/N [11/22/08]: Hey everyone! I haven't felt I had anything good enough to post for awhile, but this one seems okay. I'm still tweaking it but hopefully it'll be good enough for you guys for now. Enjoy!

Org. A/N: I got this idea after the manga finally ended. I mean, I felt so sad and happy at the same time I had to give this a go. It will probably be in the works for awhile, but hopefully it will be done eventually.

It had been three years. Three years since the Inutachi had defeated Naraku, destroyed the jewel forever and finally had the lives they each deserved - save for two. After the well had come back in a blinding flash of light, Inuyasha appeared alone and stunned. In the days following he became quiet and reserved, mourning the disappearance of his friend and love. Not even Shippou's usual taunts and squabbles brought Inuyasha out of his reverie.

In time, however, he got past the pain of loosing yet another woman he loved and moved on as much as he could. Nevertheless he still checked the well every three days. Every time he would approach the old rickety well, he would be accosted with a flood of memories that sometimes brought something close to tears to his eyes. The hanyou would sit, back against the well and wait - for what he never really knew, but still he waited. For Kagome, for something? Any sign she was okay and happy still, that was all he cared about.

Miroku and Sango had gotten married and had two children already: two twins. They had a morbid fascination with his ears and often repeated everything he said - including the bad stuff. Sango was due with their third child any day now and spirits were high between them - life was good.

However, they realized Inuyasha was feeling lonely. Miroku tried to get through to him countless times after the well came back but he held fast, not speaking much about it. The one time he did talk about the battle that had raged in the meidou, Inuyasha had said Kagome was in a better place - somewhere she'd be happier. Where other people loved her.

On this particular night, all was quiet in the village as everyone slept. The stars twinkled silently above the gently swaying trees and the moon shown bright and half full above them. Inuyasha had taken to sleeping in trees again after Kagome had gone, and was currently perched in the one closest to Miroku and Sango's little hut.

Anything but asleep, his ears moved constantly, keeping watch over what was left of his pack. Shippou had left a few days earlier to go and train with the kitsune again and had been doing so more and more often.

The only sounds he heard was the quiet breathing of his friends, and an occasional cry from one of their children. He had never told anybody but he had thought about having kids with Kagome before - he just never, ever voiced that thought. It was horrible, what they'd have to go through. In the village he was more than welcome and figured his children would be too, but other places was a different story.

Under him, he suddenly heard movement. Without a second's thought he leapt out of his tree and took off running towards his favorite musing spot. It was a rocky cliff waterfall above a beautiful stream and found he could think there. Crashing through the bushes not caring who, or what heard, he skidded to a stop not inches from the edge.

His heart was racing, his ears were ringing, and a little unsteadily he sat down. Lately when one of the kids would have a midnight fit, Miroku would come outside and try to talk to him. Most of the time it was about trivial things, such as what demons they'd beaten the day before, or what the weather was going to be like. But lately, he'd been hinting at possibly finding someone else to love.

The hanyou gritted his teeth and growled, aware his youki was rising. He didn't know a thing, that damn monk! Kagome would come back someday, and he'd been thinking that for years. He never let his resolve falter and was determined to keep it that way. He could love whoever he damn well pleased, dammit! If it was Kagome he wanted it was Kagome he'd get. Oh, he'd had her in his sights since almost from the time they'd met. That kiss he almost gave her back when they first met? That wasn't because he saw Kikyou. He'd just had the guts top do it right then.

And as usual, on the heels of whatever emotion he'd feel when he thought of Kagome, came the desire, the want. In his mind's eye he could see her naked - he'd spied on her enough to put bits and pieces together. She was a beautiful girl, and had grown quite a bit in the year he had known her. When she left, her form was just beginning to ripen out, the curves were appearing and her breasts were getting a little bigger.

His cock, which had been peacefully sleeping until now, started to wake up at the thoughts Inuyasha was presenting to himself. He was lonely, and constantly horny anyway, so taking care of his 'problems' was never much of a deal for him. All he had to do was think of Kagome bathing, or Kagome brushing her hair, sweet innocent Kagome screaming his name under him as he ruthlessly drove himself into her.

Well, maybe the last one was a bit extreme. That was personally a favorite of his though. He loved it when she said his name - whether it be in fear, in happiness, or in anger.

He fell backwards and stared up at the inky black sky, wondering what Kagome was doing at that moment. Was she studying for that school of hers? Was she out with friends, or maybe with that Hojou guy? The last thing he hoped not. Or, was she thinking about him? He thought about her every day, all the time. She was always on his mind no matter what.

"Kagome," he whispered, closing his eyes and imagining her there with him. She'd be smiling and probably trying to talk, but that was okay. He could deal with any of the quirks she had, as long as he could see her again . . .

Murmuring her name once more, his eyes dropped to the obvious bulge in his hakama. She always did that to him. She didn't even have to be near him to make it happen. It just . . . did. He murmured her name again and shut his eyes, a hand finding the ties to his pants and tugging them loose with practiced ease. His fingers grasped the rigid length between his legs and pulled once, wrenching a soft groan from himself.

His hips thrust into welcoming fingers and his head rolled on the grassy ground, silver hair splayed on the grass. Aware he was vulnerable, Inuyasha tightened his grip and pulled harder, thrusting into his imaginary Kagome. Golden eyes wide with ecstasy suddenly squeezed shut, and his thumb grazed the sensitive underside of his cock. He started to tingle, that familiar twisting feeling rising from his belly, as his essence flowed over his hand, clothes and the grass around him. Maybe a minute or two had passed but it felt like longer. It always did.

He sat up slowly, retying his pants and making his way down the rocky cliff to the pool of water below. He stripped and dove into the freezing water, surfacing with a loud splash. Dragging his hakama into the chilly water, he found a rock to lay it on and scrubbed until the evidence of his release was gone. Laying the wet garment on the bank the hanyou swam out to the middle of the small lake and stood up, staring at the sky for a long time.

He'd been doing that a lot lately. In a way the sky reminded him of Kagome. It was beautiful, it was vast, and had many changing moods. He smiled a little at that last thought. His fingers brushed the beads still around his neck, then gripped them in a fist.

These beads were a stark reminder of the connection he shared with Kagome, and they held so many memories. He suddenly wanted the miko there with him more than anything, and a familiar tight feeling built in his chest. His eyes drifted shut and he raised his face to the heavens. "Kagome," he whispered, and a slight breeze ruffled his hair.

Climbing out of the water he dried off and put his clothes back on - his hakama was still wet but he didn't care. Heading back to the village, Inuyasha perched in his tree again, closing his eyes and fitfully napping until morning, Kagome drifting in and out of his thoughts.
