Hope you are enjoying the story so far. This chapter is the last of the vision. Didn't expect it to be so long. It seemed much shorter in my head. Sorry about that lol. As always I do not own Inuyasha.

Chapter 9: A Vision into the Future's Past Part 4

Kai lunged at Inuyasha. She began her attack. Blow after blow Inuyasha did nothing. He took in every hit. Kyu, Sano, and Siroku had heard the commotion and made their way outside. Inuyasha noticed them. He motioned for them to go back inside. They did as they were told but watched from the windows. Kai continued her attacks and still Inuyasha did nothing. This only angered her more. She stopped for a moment to catch her breath. "Damn you Inuyasha, fight back" Inuyasha opened his mouth as if he was going to speak but then looked at the ground deciding not to. Kai began to attack again. A storm began to slowly begin. Rain began to fall on them. Her clothes were soaked and she was already tired. But still she continued. Finally she stopped. She couldn't keep it up anymore. "Why won't you fight back?" Inuyasha decided it was time to speak. "I have no reason to"
Kai began another attack. She punched and punched but continued to lose strength in her punches. Tears started to form. Everything she had been holding in all those years was coming out. "You should have been there to protect her" She finally stopped and fell to the ground. Her sobs continued until she felt herself being embraced. Inuyasha had bent down and held her. "I know and I'm sorry I wasn't there"
Later on in the night Kai had agreed to come into Inuyasha house and warm herself by the fire. She sat there wrapped in a blanket staring into the fire. Kyu, Sano, and Siroku were already asleep. Inuyasha broke the silence by asking if she was hungry. "No. I learned how to survive without eating everyday" This added to Inuyasha's guilt. He sat beside her and looked into the fire. "I'm sorry" she said "It's my fault mother is dead, not yours" Inuyasha turned to her in amazement. "How could it be you're just a child?" Kai could feel herself wanting to cry again. She knew the full moon was only a few nights away and found it hard to control her emotions. "If I had never been born, you wouldn't have left" Inuyasha was now fighting back his own tears. He felt angry at himself. He decided it was time to tell her the reason he left. He explained everything. Kai felt only slightly better.
Six years passed. The children were now teenagers. They sent most days in the field sparring. Kai against Kyu and Sano against Siroku. Kai and Kyu had become very close. Not too long after she had come to them he saw her sneak out one night. He stole his father's Tetsusaiga and followed her to the woods. He saw she had become human. She looked so helpless to him. Unlike Kai he smelled a demon. He managed to slice the demon in two the way Inuyasha did before it got her. That was the first time he saw her inability to control emotions in her human form. As Kyu prepared to attack Kai he remembered that moment. He had protected her ever since. They were all very skilled fighters. Kai and Kyu especially. Not only had they been trained by Inuyasha but by Sesshomaru on occasion.
For the first time in her life Kai felt truly happy. She no longer had vengeance in her mind. She had moved on with her life. One night however, she began dreaming of her mother. She awoke covered in sweat and out of breath. Kyu awoke as well. "Kai, what's wrong" "I was dreaming of mother" Kyu sat up and poked at the fire. "You've dreamed of her before." Kai sat up too. She wiped the sweat from her face. "Not like this. I felt like she was trying to tell me something." Kyu felt troubled by what she had said. He had the same dream before he awoke. Only he had seen his own mother.
The both decided to keep the dreams to themselves. But Kai couldn't shake the feeling she had. Kyu had it too. Siroku and Sano seemed the same but noticed the looks on Kyu and Kai's faces. "What's bothering you two" Sano asked. "Oh it's nothing" Kai faked a smile but she could tell it wasn't fooling anyone. "Well something is up" Inuyasha joined in. Kyu and Kai looked at each other. They were busted. They both explained the dreams they had and explained a feeling they had that was all too familiar to Inuyasha. "It's like something is calling to us" Kyu explained. "Yeah like a voice without sound" Inuyasha knew what they meant. Kagome had once explained it to him. "You're both sensing a sacred jewel shard." They looked at him in shock. "Well don't be surprised. Both of you had mothers who were powerful priestesses." They all discussed the idea and decided for Kai and Kyu to follow the jewel shard. But Kai explained they didn't have to go far. Kyu agreed that it was close but he couldn't place it.
"Maybe I can help" Sesshomaru said. The times were rare but he would come to "train" Kyu and Kai. Inuyasha believed he was just simply fond of them as he never extended the curiosity to him when he was growing up but never spoke of it. Sesshomaru pointed to the hut. Slightly confused, Kai walked into the hut and returned with the pack she had come with. She emptied it. She then had a though a felt the bag itself. To her surprise she felt something sewed into the seams. She ripped it only to find a mostly completed sacred jewel. Finally all her mother's demon fighting made since. She remembered Kagome being gone sometimes for weeks at a time.
The sky turned dark. Wind began to pick up around them. Kai clenched the jewel in her hand. They could all sense something now. A demon. But not just any demon. A cloud of miasma swirled in front of them. Naraku appeared before them. He let out and evil laugh. "Well it's about time. I thought you would never reveal the final part of the jewel to me." Kai felt her anger over her mother's death for the first time in years. "You knew I had it! Why didn't you come after it sooner?" Naraku smiled. "Because my dear Kai your mother was powerful. Not the same brat around you age she was when I first battled her. She learned. They was a priestess protection around the sack. Only someone of her bloodline could remove it and now it will be mine"
The battle began for the jewel. Naraku seemed to have vines coming from every direction. Sesshomaru had engaged in the fight once Naraku attempted an attack. What seemed like hours passed and Naraku was winning. Sesshomaru was struck down. Kyu went to check on his uncle only to find him dead. Inuyasha was hit too. "FATHER” Kyu grabbed his Tenseiga before Naraku could strike him. Kai ran over to Inuyasha as well. Sano and Siroku continued to keep Naraku's attention so that Inuyasha had time to recover. They didn't know their efforts were for nothing.
Kyu and Kai could tell he was hurt badly. Inuyasha looked at both. Blood ran out his mouth as he smiled. He held Kyu's hand. "My son, you know the story of how you came to be. I know from the story it seems like I wished you had never been born. I want you to know that though I do regret being with your mother that night I don't regret having you." Inuyasha used his other hand to hold Kai's hand. "I just wish I didn't fall to Kikyo's threat and saved you that day." He turned to look at Kai. "If I had then I would have been there to save Kagome. We could have been a family the four of us." Kai and Kyu were crying. "Uncle Inuyasha please don't go. I can't lose anyone else" Kai gripped his hand as if it would keep him alive. "Father, I have Uncle Sesshomaru's sword. I'll bring you back." Inuyasha continued to smile. "No take my Tetsusaiga. Then the four of you run. I don't care how just escape from Naraku. I love you both. I'll be fine. I'll be with Kagome" Inuyasha's eyes slowly closed. He was gone.
Kai and Kyu let out cries of pain. "KYU HURRY" Sano yelled dodging a vine. "KAI WE NEED YOUR HELP" Siroku called. Kyu and Kai looked at each other. The nodded. Kyu grabbed the Tenseiga and they ran towards Naraku. "Where's Inuyasha" Naraku said with an evil laugh. Kyu said noting only lunged at Naraku with Tetsusaiga in hand. Naraku easily dodged his attacked. Kai was ready to attack when she remembered the Jewel. Suddenly she had an idea. But they needed to escape first. Kai had practiced a few times with a bow. Inuyasha had insisted on it. She ran to the hut and grabbed it. She fired and arrow at Naraku and it had no effect. "For the daughter of a priestess you lack the powers of one." "Damn it" Kai said to herself. "You can do it Kai. You could sense the shard like I could. Focus." Kyu yelled to her. Kai closed her eyes. She remember everything that had ever happened.
The battle paused for a moment. Kai had a glow around her. Even Siroku and Sano could see it. Kai opened her eyes and fired an arrow at Naraku. As it hit a strong bright light exploded as did part of Naraku. His mouth was wide open with shock. He started to regenerate when Kyu slashed him with the Tetsusaiga. "Attack together" Kai yelled. Kyu, Sano, and Siroku nodded. "NOW" Kyu yelled. In unison they attacker. Kai with a sacred arrow. Kyu, not knowing he was using one of his father's most powerful attacks, used the Wind Scar. Sano used his father's staff and Siroku used her mother's Hiraikotsu. All four attacks hit at once. Naraku's bodied exploded. He yelled in pain.
Pieces of Naraku were everywhere. The four breathed heavily. For a moment they thought the battle was over. Until the pieces started to move. "This is our chance, we need to leave now" Kai said. "What's that" Sano said. The four looked to the distance and notice a purple glow in the distance. Kai and Kyu felt the feeling they had that morning. "Let's go" Kyu said. They took off running to the glow. "But we don't know what it is" Siroku yelled. Naraku was nearly regenerated. They could feel it. They had to hurry. They came to a clearing. When they came to the glow they saw it was a well. "I know this place. Our parents told us about it before they died." Sano said. "This is the well my mother traveled through." Kai said. "My father used it too" Kyu added. "Then you can use it. Maybe if you concentrate you two can go back before everything started." Siroku said. At first they were happy. Then Kyu and Kai realized they would be leaving their friends behind. Kyu had a thought. He used the Tetsusaiga and cut open his hand. "Kai, Sano, Siroku give me your hands." Everyone held out their hands and he cut them. He held his bloody hand to Siroku and told Kai to do the same with Sano. "I don't understand Kyu" said Sano. "You two are coming with us." Kyu answered with a smile. The ground began to tremble. Naraku was coming. "Come on jump in the well and hold on to each other" They jumped into the well and disappeared into the purplish light.
Kagome and Inuyasha opened their eyes. They finally knew the whole story. Kagome looked at Kai. She had been through so much. They all had. Inuyasha stayed silent. He wasn't sure what to think of what he saw. The old woman was mixing different herbs into a pot over the fire. "The child will be better by morning."
