Chapter 16


Kya was totally caught up in the tide of passion that ran between herself and Inuyasha. All of her nerve endings were flaring wildly with each sweep of those clawed hands across her body. The combination of caresses and licks putting her body into sensory overload where all she was aware of was the kaleidoscope of vibrant colors that pulsed and spun as her need grew.

Kya paused to shake herself, when suddenly without a word Inuyasha sprang into the forest heading in the direction from which the shouts were coming from. Quickly she began to follow Inuyasha. He had a head start on her and it took her some time to catch up with him. By the time she did finally reach him he was already in a fight with a very large bear youkai.

They were in the middle of a large clearing in the forest. Kya paused at the tree line to look quickly at her surroundings so that she could best judge how to help Inuyasha in his fight. In seconds she noticed that the brush behind the bear was very thick and with a little luck she could easily sneak in behind him. She began to carefully make her way through the trees. Her steps were light and caused hardly any noise to alert the bear to her presence. She was almost all the way behind him when Inuyasha began to shout at her. Instantly she raised her head to meet Inuyasha's eyes and hear what he was yelling. As she did this the bear began to growl and spin to face this new threat at his back. As his massive body turned towards her Kya dropped into a low crouch to avoid his deadly claws. He had swung his arm out hoping to swipe her head from her body and thankfully missed.

Kya instantly found her feet after this assault and prepared to jump at the attacking youkai. Just as quickly the bear gave an earsplitting roar as Inuyasha jumped onto its back and began to attack. This diverted the attention from her as the bear tried to swat the irritating hanyou from his back. Inuyasha was nothing if not tenacious though and he began to yell at Kya again. This time Kya caught what he said.

"Kya get Hachi away from here. He's right behind you. Hurry do it now." yelled Inuyasha.

Kya turned and there behind her crumpled in a heap half in and out of a bush was a tanuki. She was stunned that she had not noticed him before now. She had been so focused on trying to help Inuyasha that she had forgotten that something had been crying out as the bear youkai had attacked it. He must have already been down as she had entered the clearing because she had not noticed his presence at all. Shaking her thoughts off she grabbed him under the arms and began to drag him out of harms way. Inuyasha was now on the ground and slashing at the bear with a grin on his face. He took a moment to motion for Kya to bring the tanuki behind him. In seconds they were in the position that Inuyasha deemed safe. As Kya let the limp body of the tanuki hit the ground she heard Inuyasha give a shout as he jumped high into the air.

Kya raised her eyes up to the soaring hanyou and found herself breathless. He looked .......WOW. For lack of a better word. He was stunning. His clothes and hair billowed around him as the air passed over his frame. Those beautiful golden eyes burned with determination as his fangs became barred in a feral snarl. His powerful arms brought tetsusiga over his head and into a downward swing that cleaved the bear youkai’s neck. In a flash, the fight was over as the head detached from the neck and hit the ground; rolling a few feet from the now crumpled body. As it did so Inuyasha glided slowly to the ground and in that second Kya thought he was the most beautiful man that she had ever seen.

Inuyasha glanced at her as he walked past her to kneel down next to the tanuki youkai. Kya watched stunned as he began to smirk and then to laugh. Finally, he leaned over the demon and began to tap him across the face. This got no reaction so he tapped a little harder. As this too got no reaction from the downed tanuki Inuyasha drew back his hand a delivered a stinging slap to the fellow. Kya was about to protest such treatment as the demon opened his eyes and gave a startled cry.

"Inuyasha-sama." he cried as he sat up.

"Hachi what the hell are you doing out here." questioned Inuyasha.

"I was searching for Miroku no danna." said Hachi as he began to rise to his feet.

"Why the hell do you need to speak with the perverted monk." said Inuyasha as he too rose to his feet. "You didn't steal his identity again did you?"

"NO. NO. I have done nothing like that Inuyasha-sama. Mushin has received word of a shard to the far east that he wanted to let Miroku no danna know of."

"Eh well I guess that I better lead you back to where the others are waiting. Come on and keep up will ya. That goes for you to Kya."

So saying Inuyasha began to jog back into the forest heading back in the direction they had come from. A short time later they were once again with the rest of the group and everyone was seated comfortably as Hachi explained his mission from Mushin. As he finished the group began to discuss what to do. They had been traveling to try to find a shard rumor. Now there was a definite possibility of one to the east. Should they continue in the direction they were headed to see if anything was in this area or head straight to the east?

Finally, it was decided that the group would camp where they were for the night. At first light they would start their journey for the east and the shard that Mushin had heard of. Since everyone was in agreement, they split up and began to prepare the camp for the night. Kya could not help but notice that Ayame kept glancing at her and laughing to herself. This attitude was starting to rub Kya the wrong way she finally walked up to Ayame to demand an answer.

"Ayame what is so funny." questioned Kya.

"I don't want to explain here Kya. Wait until later and we will go bathe. I'll tell you then ok." said Ayame.

Kya could only huff out a breath and agree. The evening meal was a hurried affair as the humans in the group wanted to go to sleep as soon as possible. These long journeys were hard on them as they did not have demon stamina. As Kagome, Miroku and Sango fell asleep Ayame and Kya rose to search out a stream to bathe in. As they departed, Hachi found a nice pile of clover to stretch out on as Shippou and Kirara curled up together for the night. Inuyasha just jumped into the nearest tree and found a nice wide branch to sleep on.

He tried to doze off and get a little sleep but everytime he closed his eyes his mind was filled with pictures of Kya. He kept seeing her flushed and mewling in need. The feel and taste of her pushing at his senses and making him want to chase her down and take more of the sweetness she had to offer. Suddenly the forest rang with a loud cry as Kya screamed.
