~* 2004; on the way to the hospital *~

True to Ms. Higurashi's words, everyone on the street either gawked at them as they passed or let out a wolf-whistle, earning either an ice-cold glare or a growled threat to their eternal soul. Either tactic seemed to work just fine. (A/N: Ha! I would love that! There was no point to putting this in here; I just felt like it…got a problem with that?! Well, tough cookies!)

~* Hospital *~

"I grow impatient," Sesshoumaru growled, rapping his claws against his arms as he leaned against the wall outside of the check-up room.

Kagome looked up at him and sighed. "They should be done any minute now. Hospitals can get very busy."

Sesshoumaru snorted in indignation, but didn't say anything.

They were all currently standing or sitting in the waiting room. They lost Suzuka sometime right after they entered the building. She muttered something about going to explore, but hadn't been seen since. Kagome sat in one of the chairs closest to the front desk while Sesshoumaru stood on her left - farther away from the desk -- leaning against the wall, his arms crossed in front of him, glaring at the nurse at the desk every time she looked over at him. Kuzume - also glaring at the nurse, only for looking at Sesshoumaru -- sat on his other side, talking to Aura - who was sitting on the table in front of her. . (A/N: Happy now, KAZUYASHA?! Okay, I'm good now…or at least better… ^__^;) InuYasha sat in a corner, his cap pulled over his eyes, most likely napping lightly.

A few minutes later, the doctor came in, guiding Ayumu to a chair next to Kuzume. Kagome stood to speak with him, being the only one that could properly deal with a doctor from this time period.

"So," she prompted.

The doctor took of his glasses at looked at her wearily. "I'm afraid Ms. Takahashi has cataracts." At the questioning look from everyone except Sesshoumaru and the still sleeping InuYasha, he explained. "Cataracts are opacity of the lens of the eye. It causes an impairment of vision or blindness. To put it simply: it's like she has junk stuck to the inside of her eyes' lenses. Unless she has surgery, she won't be able to see again."

Kagome bowed to him. "Thank you very much, Dr. Guchi."

He bowed back. "It was nothing, Ms. Higurashi. You may set up a date and time for the surgery if she wishes to have it."

With that he left, leaving everyone to their own devices.

"So, you getting' that `surgery', or can we just go home," InuYasha asked from his corner, raising his head up.

Ayumu sat in silence for a moment before answering, "if it's alright with everyone, I'd like to get my sight back."

"Very well, then," Sesshoumaru said, standing upright off of the wall, "we shall remain here until this `surgery' is over with."

He walked over and helped Ayumu to stand.

"Where's Ms. Suzuka," Aura asked, looking around.

"She never showed up," replied Kuzume, walking past him to the hallway to look for her.

Kagome leaned from one foot to the other, obviously getting nervous. "Do you think she got lost? This is a pretty big hospital…"

Sesshoumaru shook his head in the negative. "She's not lost. Suzuka's never gotten lost in her entire life. She'll probably be outside waiting for us."

With that said, they began outside. Kagome became distracted by an oddly familiar voice coming from downstairs. She turned down a hallway, away from the demons of the group.

"Ms. Kagome," Aura asked, standing next to her, startling her out of her musings, "are you coming?"

She waved her hand at him, continuing down the hall, following the voice. "Yeah, yeah," she replied absent-mindedly, "tell everyone to wait outside for me; I'll be there in a minute."

"Very well," he said, shrugging. He took off down the hallway in the opposite direction, trying to catch up with everyone else.

Kagome made it to the stairs. She climbed down a flight of them, and peered into what looked like the emergency waiting room. Her eyes widened when she saw Ayumu being dragged into the waiting room by what looked like a young human man. She leaned forward listening closer.

"Please, sir," she yelled desperately, "I don't need to come here! I'll be fine!"

The young man kept pulling her, her bloody trench-coat waving around her, getting blood on his clothes. "That's nonsense," he said back to her. "You're covered in blood and you're injured. You need a doctor!"

"No, I don't," she yelled, her dark sunglasses slipping down her nose a bit when her head jerked toward the opening double doors.

Moments later a taller Suzuka walked in, dressed in a black trench-coat with black high-heeled boots and her own pair of slim sunglasses. Compared to Ayumu's current state - in her ripped, bloodied, white trench-coat and matching boots - Suzuka was a goddess. They both wore their hair shorter; Suzuka's reached her waist with half her hair in a bun on the crown of her head while Ayumu's was jaw-length and straight as could be.

Suzuka strode over to the bickering pair, grabbing the man's wrist and twisting it with only enough pressure to cause pain, forcing him to release Ayumu's arm.

Ayumu stood up straight and rearranged her clothes and hair to look a little neater.

Suzuka released the man; he ran, not wanting to mess with the ice-cold woman.

Before Kagome could get her legs to work again and leave, Suzuka and Ayumu looked up at the stairs and right at Kagome, walking toward her cautiously before chasing her when she ran.

Okay, I know this was a short chapter, but I'll try to make the next one longer, `kays? I make no promises!

Anyways, like I said, if you want to tell me something about the stories (a.k.a. - review them) you'll have to email me. Media Miner hates me and won't let me view all of the reviews…*sniffles*
