InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A new visitor ❯ Meeting ( Chapter 1 )

As she ran her silky hair streamed behind her. All the flowers were in bloom and the colors reached for the sun with greedy petals. It seemed as if the trees had sprung to life over night. It was a beautiful summer day. It wasn't too hot nor was it too cold. It was one of the rare perfect days. The girl noticed none of this as she ran with tears streaming down her face.

``How could he do this to me?' her mind screamed at her as she ran.

When she finally reached the end of the street she had been running on she turned right and ran into the yard on the corner. Quickly scanning the huge yard the girl, seeing it was empty, began to walk slowly. She walked until she came to a rather large tree in the center of a ring of hedges.

The tree its self was huge. It was also her favorite tree on the whole plantation. The tree was only 5 years old but looked much much older. IN fact it looked over 500 years old. The bark was well weathered and scarred. The hedges surrounding the tree were over 5 feet tall. The only way to get to the tree was to duck between to hedges on the west side.

Ducking slightly the girl squeezed in between the two said bushes. Once out of sight the girl fell to her knees and began to weep in earnest. Once the tears stopped flowing she crawled over to the tree which was a comforting thing to her. She seated her self under the shady branches. As she sat there she began to remember how her tree came to be.

~*Flash Back*~

A 10 year old girl with beautiful blonde hair and bright green eyes ran up the many steps to the shrine upon a hill. She had never been to Japan before this and was very excited about meeting a Miko who worked the shrine. She had dreamt about becoming a Miko after she had found out that her great grandmother had been one. Her father, of course, had indulged her when she had come to him asking to be trained in the ways of a Miko. She had been training almost all of her life and had yet to tire of her training, which she had done relentlessly.

"Come on Papa, we're almost to the top," called the little girl in a sing song voice as she dashed up the last few steps.

A few steps below the girl, a young man with sandy blonde hair and brilliant blue eyes puffed up the steps behind the little ball of energy. Michael Bishop couldn't help but smile at the girl who stole his heart at first sight as her foot disappeared of the last step. Inhaling deeply he continued his labored accent to the top of the never ending staircase. Just when he thought he could go no further and that he would just collapse on the stairs he reached the top. Heaving a sigh of relief he began scanning the immediate are for his previously lost spouse. He soon spotted her talking with a pretty girl her age. He noticed the girl had raven hair and was a good 3 or 4 inches taller than his daughter. They were in the shade of a tree that towered over the two of them.

Michael quickly began crossing the courtyard, in which they stood, to where the two females conversed in the shade of the tree. Knowing the shade of the big tree would be a welcome relief after his tedious hike up the staircase he quickened his pace. When he was near enough to hear them speak he was able to catch the end of their conversation. -Not wanting to intrude he stopped a distance away,

"So plant this in a very special place and some day you may have your very own tree. Over time, lots of time, your tree shall come to resemble the God tree. Now it was nice to meet you Eve-san, but I must be going," the girl smiled as she bent to retrieve the yellow bag resting at her feet. Once the bag was secured on her shoulder she turned and started towards as small hut beside the tree. As soon as the door slid shut Eve noticed her father striding towards her. She quickly ran to meet him and show him her newest gift.

"Papa, look at what Kagome-san gave me!" With a flourish she opened her cupped hands a crack. Resting in the middle of her tiny hands was a small seed.

"What is it from?" he asked with a curious smile.

"Do you see that huge tree over there?" she asked pointing. "It's over 500 years old. Kagome-san said if I plant this seed then a tree like that will grow. Can we plant it home? Please Papa!" Eve looked up at her father with a look that said if-you-don't-let-me-ill-be-crushed. Michael smiled at his daughter.

"Yes you may baby," Michael was able to flash one more white smile before his hand was grabbed in a vice like grip and he was pulled across the courtyard to begin a tour of the shrine.

*~End Flashback~*

Eve smiled at the memory and leaned back against the tree she had planted. This was the tree she planted on her birthday and today was that day again.

"Happy birthday to me," she muttered under her breath as she closed her eyes. "I wish I could leave this place. I just want to go…" Eve trailed off as she drifted to sleep. While she slept dreamt what had happened that day.

~Dream~

A young man with jet black hair stood in the middle of a large open field by a tree. A tree with white flowers the size of dimes. The flowers were so many in number that the tree looked white and not green. Eve stood facing him on the far side of the field. Behind her stood and evergreen forest. As she began walking towards the young man his features came into view. Almost in the time it took her to blink she knew who he was.

It was Kyle. With his black hair and big doe eyes she felt herself fall for him all over again. His lips were almost always a pink color. His eyes framed by long eyelashes off set by heavy eyebrows. Even from this distance she could make out his we toned body beneath a tight shirt.

As Eve started to walk towards him again she saw him begin to frown. When she was a few feet away she saw him extend a hand to where it was partly behind the tree. Eve stopped where she was. She knew what was going to happen and was hurt. When he pulled his hand out from behind the tree Eve saw he had another hand clasped within his. Drawing someone from behind the tree Amy came into view. Once Amy had stepped from the tree Kyle lowered his lips to hers.

~End Dream~

As she slowly came back to consciousness she heard voices around her.

"What do we do?" asked a deep gravely voice.

"I don't know! Should we take her to the village? Maybe Lady Kade will know what to do," came the reply in a slightly higher voice.

"What's going on here?" asked a new gruff slightly irritated voice. The appearance of the third male mad the other two gasp. They were afraid, Eve could feel their fear. "Well? Why are you around my tree?" asked the third voice irritation now clear in his voice.

"Forgive us Lord Inuyasha! We were simply walking in the forest and we saw the young woman lying at the base of your tree. We thought she was hurt," the high pitched man hurried though his explanation with his voice trembling with fear.

"Feh!" was the only answer the man received. There was a few moments silence before the man called Inuyasha spoke again. "Leave now! I'll take care of the wench," he spoke with great indifference. Eve fumed silently as she refused to open her eyes showing the men she was awake. The sound of the two men scrambling to get away almost made her smile but she was able not to.

When the two were gone she heard the stranger sigh. She felt something on her shoulder and was afraid. Letting her instincts take over she snapped her eyes opened and shot to her feet. Grabbing the hand on her shoulder she made sure she had a good grip. Once sure she spun and flipped the person over her shoulder. Inuyasha gave a surprised yelp as he was flung over the small girls shoulder.

"What the hell!! Why did you do that wench?!" gasped Inuyasha as he tried to catch his stolen breath.

"Who are you?" questioned Eve as she looked around. "Where am I? How did I get here?" Eve was starting to panic as she looked at the surrounding trees. Inuyasha easily noticed the girl's distress. After looking around she settled her gaze on the boy on the ground at her feet. She was very shocked when her bright green eyes met gold ones. She quickly scanned over the rest of the boy taking in the red clothes and silver hair. Taking a moment to study the clawed hands, they were slender but not womanly looking. Once finished with the hands she moved back to the face. Once again she was surprised when her eyes found his ears perched atop his head and not at the sides.

In the time she had been studying him Inuyasha took the time to study her as well. Green eyes, and shoulder length blonde hair. She looked about Kagome's age. There was also something special about her but he could not place it. Inuyasha was pulled from his thoughts when the girl spoke again.

"I'm sorry if I hurt you," she whispered as she bowed her head hiding her face from view.

Inuyasha was saved from having to answer when a familiar scent caught the attention of his nose. He turned in time to see a yellow bag thrown over the lip of the Bone Eaters Well. Almost at once a new change came over him. He grabbed the new comer by the wrist and dragged her to the side of the Well. Once they reached the Well Kagome had already pulled her self out and was resting. Her surprise was evident when she saw Inuyasha stomping across the field with a young woman in jeans and a tee-shirt in tow.

"Kagome! What have you done?" Inuyasha shouted. He kept pulling the girl with him as he wet to face Kagome. Inuyasha was interrupted from his yelling when Eve wrenched her hand out of his grip and strolled ahead of him to bow in front of Kagome.

"Hello again Kagome-san!" Upon hearing her name Kagome turned and face Eve fully. It took Kagome a few moments to remember the girl but when she did she walked over and gave her a hug.

"Eve-san how have you been?" Kagome soon released the girl and pulled back to view her better. She noticed they had caught up in height and that her eyes were just as bright as they had been when they first met. Kagome thought back to the day they met.

Kagome had just gotten home from school and still had her yellow school bag. She was about to go clean the well house when she saw a girl her own age staring at the God Tree. For some reason Kagome's back had tingled and she felt drawn to the girl. Kagome was pulled back to the present rather rudely by Inuyasha.

"WHO THE HELL IS SHE?!?" yelled Inuyasha, who was now at the end of his rope.

"INUYASHA! Sit," Kagome had screamed so loud that Inuyasha covered his ears. He was not expecting for Kagome to say sit so when she said the word his mouth was wide open. When Kagome said eat dirt she meant it.

Kagome smiled; satisfied with the 6in hole she put Inuyasha in. Turning she took Eve's arm and began leading her threw the forest. One the way to Kade's village she told Eve where she was. By the time they got to the village Eve was calm and interested about what was around her. As they walk between the houses Eve noticed all the strange looks she was getting.

"Why are they looking at me so strangely?" she asked Kagome with worry in her voice. Kagome smiled before answering.

"They have never seen jeans and a tee-shirt before. They are used to my school uniform. Don't worry they wont hurt you. They are very kind to strangers," Kagome smiled again and this time Eve smiled back. Very quickly they reached Kade's hut.

"Kade are you here? I'm back!" called Kagome into the hut before ducking inside. Eve quickly followed her.

"Kagome, you're back. I see ye brought a friend. How though?" Kade spoke as she slowly raised her old frail body off the floor.

"Hello Lady Kade-san. My name is Eve and. I see ye brought a friend. How though?" Kade spoke as she slowly raised her old frail body off the floor.

"Hello Lady Kade-san. My name is Eve and Kagome-san did not bring me here. I do not know how I got here. All I can remember is falling asleep underneath a tree in my time and waking up here," Eve bowed low in respect then straitened up and smiled at the old woman. Before the three women could continue their conversation they heard two people conversing rather loudly.

"HOW COULD YOU DO THAT!!? I'VE TOLD YOU TIME AND TIME AGAIN!!!" a woman screaming brought their conversation to a total halt.

***SLAP***

Running out the hut to see what was wrong Kagome and Eve arrived just in time to see a young woman stomping towards them. Kagome laughed at something that was slightly out of Eve's sight. Moving so she could see what the young woman was so infuriated about she saw a young man sitting on the ground rubbing a red spot on his face. Looking closer Eve could see the red spot was actually a hand print.

"Hey Kagome you're back when did you get here?" the young woman greeted Eve's newest friend.

"Hey Sango I just got here. This is my friend Eve she got here some how. We aren't sure how though," Kagome smiled and embraced the woman named Sango. As soon as Eve was introduced Sango turn and greeted her by bowing low.

"Nice to meet you Eve-san," she smiled as she said this.

"Nice to meet you too Sango-san," returning the bow she straightened out in time to see a ball of red fur launch itself at Kagome. Kagome staggered back at the sudden change of weight. She was able to catch herself before she fell.

"Hi Kagome!" cried the ball of fur.

"Hi Shippo," greeted Kagome as she hugged the thing called Shippo closer.

"Did you bring me anything?" he asked quickly glancing around for the teenagers yellow backpack.

"Yes I did Shippo, but I want you to meet someone first," turning to where Shippo could see her new friend Eve waved at the small ball. Shippo hopped from Kagome's arms to the ground. Once on the ground Shippo sprinted to the new comer and began to crawl all over her. Smelling Eve from head to toe he sat at her feet and smiled up at her.

"You smell nice," he announced with innocence only a child could muster.

"Why thank you very much. I suppose it's nice to know I don't reek," giggling soon followed her thanks.

The young man seated on the ground gained his feet and began walking towards the group. Looking at Sango Kagome noticed the young woman's eyebrow start to twitch. Miroku was not oblivious to this warning sign and opted to take the longer route to reach Kagome.

"Hello Lady Kagome, I am pleased to see you have returned," smiling at his travel companion he let his eyes wander the group. When his eyes settled on a sight he had not held before he quickly sidestepped the teenager intent on talking/grouping this new beauty. Sango and Kagome immediately knew what he was up to and stopped his plan with both females bring their hands down on the top of the monk.

Bring his face up from the ground Miroku looked at the two indigently. Standing, with two new knots on his head, he brushed the dirt off his robes. Once he was finished straightening his clothing he spoke.

"Really now ladies, was that really necessary? I swear I have become very acquainted with the dirt. If this keeps up I'm afraid I will have to ask mother earth to bear my child. Then you Sango would lose the privilege," Sango was at a loss for words as Miroku spun around and went to greet the new comer he had yet to meet.

"Hi I'm Eve," greeted Eve as Miroku drew nearer.

"And I am Miroku, naught but a humble Monk," grasping her hands in his own Miroku got very close to her, "Lady Eve will you bear my child?" When Eve looked as if she were considering it Miroku grew hopeful.

"Ummm no, I'm only 16," slipping her hands from his grasp Eve started to back up. Trying to put a little distance between them and not looking where she was going she kept backing up until she ran into something solid. When two hands gripped her upper arms Eve swallowed loudly. Slowly inching her head back until she could view who had a hold on her she kept going until her eyes met glowing gold ones.

"Oh hi Inuyasha, glad to see you got out of your hole ok," Eve smiled as best she could. Inuyasha smirked at the discomfort he knew he was causing the girl to experience. With nothing but a Feh he released the girl and strolled around her to face Kagome. Kagome ready herself for the explosion she knew was coming.

"We should stay here tonight and head out tomorrow," Inuyasha stated. Kagome almost fell over when he did not yell at her for putting him in the ground. Once she recovered enough to respond she nodded not trusting her voice. Turing she began to make room for the beds outside sense it was such a nice day.

~*Hours Later*~

"Inuyasha what's wrong you've barely touched your Raman?" asked Kagome with concern in her voice.

"Staying here tonight wasn't a smart choice," Inuyasha stated simply. Kagome was deeply confused by the Hanyou's actions. Suddenly Sango tensed. Looking to her friend with questioning eyes Sango did not look at Kagome but more at the woods ahead of them. Then Kagome felt it. A very powerful demon was coming their way and it was coming fast.

Springing to her feet Kagome ran to the hut and took her bow and arrows from the hook by the door.

"Shippo, Eve, Kade go into the hut and let us handle this," Kagome commanded as she took her fighting stance. Shippo began to protest but was cut off by a frightful roar. Eve shooting to her feet picked up the Kit and helped Lady Kade to her feet. Once they reached the hut Eve made sure that Kade was comfortable and that Shippo was going to behave before she seated herself on the floor.

~Outside~

Kagome readied herself whatever was going to come out of the woods. When the ground started to shake form the force of the unseen demon's footsteps Kagome grew worried. When the demon finally appeared Kagome was awed by it awesome size.
