Chapter 3: the decision
Inuyasha was getting impatient. Midoriko was frantic; she couldn't make up her mind. Then, Kagome put her arm over her shoulders and calmed her, telling her that everything will be just fine. And that Inuyasha was with them, and would never allow them to be harmed. Midoriko wasn't worried about that, she knew he would risk his life for their safety. It was her parents. And her pet dog Sandy. Finally, after a lot of coaxing, Midoriko agreed to accompany them on their journey back to Kagomes home.
Suddenly, Kagome stopped. She turned to Midoriko, and stared into her eyes. She gasped slightly, and then told her that she must have a jewel shard with her, for she sensed a strong aura coming from her.
Midoriko sighed, what on earth was her problem?! She couldn't have a shard, it was impossible! Or maybe…. She did? Inuyasha took a sniff from her. There was no doubt; there was definitely a shard in her body! But how come Kagome didn't sense it? For the time being, that didn't matter. What did matter was Midoriko. Could she be a demon herself? Inuyasha was never so confused. This Midoriko had such incredible power, but she also possesses a fragment. And she has no demonic aura of any kind…. Who the hell was she?!
Putting the thought aside, he told them that midnight was approaching, and they'd better get a move on before then. They nodded and followed close behind him. Before her house dissapiered from view, Midoriko slowly glanced back at it. Half out load, she whispered a goodbye to her pet Sandy and to her family. It was her time, the time when childhood is replaced by adulthood. She was going on 16; she was more than ready to live out of the house. As much as she loved them all and would miss them, she just needed to get out. But one thing was certain: theres nothing quite like journeying with Inuyasha and Kagome. Nothing could've made her happier.
Truthfully, deep down, she was a bit afraid. As much as she trusted them both, she had no idea what was in store for them all or what they'd have to face. But it was too late to change her mind about it. It was said and done, period. And now that the arrows pointed to the probability that she's a reincarnation of the oh so famous priestess Midoriko, there was no way shed let this all go.
BUSTED! What would she change into every couple days?! And what about showers? And shampoo? Kagome reassured her, she was welcome to borrow anything for her place. And take showers as often as she wanted. Midoriko thanked her 10 times.
Midorikos life would never be the same. NEVER.
