Chapter 2: running away and resolving a mystery

That night, Midoriko was crying harder than ever. Her tears ran down her face like tiny little waterfalls. Her heart was aching more than ever before! SUDDENLY….

She heard screams. She ignored them. Then she heard them again. This time, she was suspicious. She pulled herself out of bed, and looked out the window. The sight was out of a fairy tale. She was about to faint. A red kimono, a head with silver hair… could it be… Inuyasha?! And a white and green school uniform and head of black hair… Kagome?! Shaking her head, she refused to believe anything she just saw! Rubbing her eyes, she headed for the door.. Then, she stopped. What would she say to her parents?! Maybe shed luck out, if they were already asleep. Very slowly, she opened the door. It was pitch black in the living room. That was good, now she had a chance to escape. As quietly as possible, she unlocked the front door, whispered a goodbye to sandy, her pet dog, and closed it behind her. Looking at herself, she realized she didn't look too bad, considering she just had a major crying session and the time consuming escape. She decided to make it her personal businesses not to screw this up, if it was even really happening. Which she doubted. But it was worth a shot! Her curiosity was raging! It wouldn't hurt to check it out. So she went into the elevator, and pressed the button for ground floor. What she was about to witness was inexplicably something from a fairy tale.

Inuyasha was losing control. The demon with five jewel shards in his forehead was taking the upper hand. It proved to be too much for him and Kagome! The jewel was almost complete. Only six shards were missing. The question was: if the demon possessed five shards, where was the sixth? Little did they know the whereabouts of the sixth shard was headed straight to them! But something was very strange. For some unexplainable reason, Kagome couldn't sense the jewel shard. The battle waged on and on. If only they had help from their friends! But they were accidentally left behind. Somhow, the portal they were sucked into and spat them out in the weird place didn't take the others. Kagome figured there was a reason for this. They were about to give up when…

Someone appeared out of nowhere. Kagome noticed her first, since Inuyasha was very busy with the demon. Kagome turned. It was a young girl! She guessed she was about her age. But it was only an assumption. Suddenly, the girl held up her hands and proclaimed a curse. In reality, she couldn't understand how she was doing it, it was like instinct! That one curse made the demon phase into oblivion. In short, it just disinagrated into the air. Inuyasha and Kagome were in a total shock what was this girl anyway? Who was she, where'd she come from? After a minute, Inuyasha shook his head, jumped towards the girl and in a shaky voice, asked her how she did all that. In a sense, he was being demanding, but it was mixed with confusion as well. She told them her name, which was Midoriko of course! THAT NAME WAS VERY FAMILIAR TO Kagome. She could've sworn she heard it from somewhere before! In a flash, it suddenly became clear. She remembered it from a history lesson she had only the past week.if she got it all right, Midoriko was a priestess, a unique, supernatural human who had similar powers like Kikyo, but were stronger by one hundred fold! She only pronounced one word, and the demons attacking the village died instantly! Consequently, it won her popularity of no other. But probably the most distinct thing about her was a small, golden midallion that she wore around her neck. It was said that with this, she didn't need arrows. The said curse caused it to glow like one thousand diamonds! It was this light that killed the demons.
