Drunkenness, as defined by wikipedia.org, in its most common usage, is the state of being intoxicated with alcohol to a sufficient degree to impair mental and motor functioning.
Kagome was exceptionally glad she waited in the car while Sesshomaru fetched the group. He was more then a little irritated that he had to go inside to get them and judging by the abrupt and forceful manner of Inuyasha's arrival, one could only say that the trip to the car was an unpleasant one.
Kagome got a good whiff of the Inu Crew and wished like hell that Sesshomaru's nice SUV had been a convertible instead. Judging by the utter look of disgust on Sesshomaru's face, he must have felt the same.
The ride home was horrific. Inuyasha didn't know when to stop with his behavior. Kagome's concern grew as she noticed Sesshomaru's grip on the wheel tighten to the point his knuckles had gone white.
In order to settle Inuyasha she placated by putting on his CD. She had glanced at Sesshomaru for approval and she took his silence as such. Even after turning his CD on and turning up the volume to an irritating level, Inuyasha would not be still. He wanted her to turn it up higher and to play the song's he wanted and then for everyone to sing “Highway to Hell” with him.
Sesshomaru kept his eyes glued to the road. The song choice was appropriate; this was a Highway to Hell.
His anger went from boil over to simmer when the commanding voice of Kagome ordered Inuyasha to “Sit!”
He complied, mumbling something to himself while pulling Kikyo onto his lap and attacking her neck like a sloppy wet nightmare. Kikyo didn't seem to mind it but for once both Kagome and Sesshomaru were glad that the music was as loud as it was.
Sesshomaru pulled into the small dimly lit street of the shrine. Pulling up to the curb, Sesshomaru came up with the perfect scheme. He wanted to spend just a little more alone time with Kagome and maybe, just maybe, get that kiss he missed. He didn't want to rush anything, but a quick glance thrown her way while he climbed out told him she might feel the same way.
Kagome was glad they were home. It was easy to ignore the throb in her leg when she had someone distracting her. And Sesshomaru was a nice distraction. She stole a quick look in the mirror as Sesshomaru climbed out, wanting to make sure her face was one color and not red. If she blushed one more damn time her face would stay that color permanatly.
Sesshomaru opened her door and she called out a `bye' to the others before climbing out. Before she had the chance to swing her legs out she was scooped up.
Clutching Sesshomaru's neck, she looked up to meet his eyes questioningly.
When he spoke, it was low, as if he only wanted her to hear. “I know this is an untoward request, but would you let me carry you?”
She giggled in spite of herself. “Well remembered.”
She gave her assent and he proceeded to follow a stumbling Kikyo. He prayed to Buddha that he would not have to stop her from falling down the steps. However, even in her drunken state she was surprisingly fast. He was not even three quarters the way up and she was already in the house.
Kagome relished the feel of is arms around her, holding her tight. She rested one arm around his shoulders, clinging to his neck, while the other she rested on his chest. He was firm. Very firm. Did this man have an ounce of fat?
When they reached the top of the steps Kagome prepared for him to put her down, she was surprised when he held onto her. She gave him another questioning look and her only response was a smug grin. Well
