A Shinigama's Fate

Summary: There is a Goddess of Death amongest them only they don't know and neither does the Goddess herself.
What do you do when you find out the one you love hold great and terrible powers far stronger than your own?

Kagome's POV.
It was a typical morning, unless you count that fact that you just realized you would eventually kill everyone you loved while trying to kill your enemy who ironically is trying to kill your friends. lets try to make this sound better by a flash back.
**************Flash back**************** Normal POV
It was early that morning, right before the sun rose.
The gang had gotten up to search for the shards before any demons would probly attack.
Kagome had been in a mourning mood for the past few days.
InuYasha had tried to console her, but everything he tried was useless.
"InuYasha you should be able to console your mate, even if it wasn't Kagome, but since it is it shouldnt be this hard." Miroku said concernd
"I know but every time I ask her she says she's afraid of something but won't tell me what"
"Hmmm perhaps Sango could do something, they are close."
InuYasha agrreed and asked Sango to talk with her.
That night Kagome and Sango went to the hotsprings .
They slowly entered the hot water.
"Kagome, can I ask you something"
"Of course. what?"
"Whats been wrong with you? You've had this mourning attitude all week and you haven't slept a bit?"
"Can I trust you not to tell InuYasha?"
"Hai, of course Kagome"
"I've been having this ...dream..well vision."
"What was it ?"
"I was in battle with Naraku and there was a spirit girl there and she was telling me what to do to kill him, you and Miroku and InuYasha had all been killed. And she said something in a nother language like an ancient language and I'm not sure what happend after that but she said I had killed all of you"
She took a moment and continued. "But I killed Naraku as well as myself"
"Kagome, thats terrible" she replied as they left the springs. the moment Sango finished saying that, Kagome fell over in terrible pain.
"Aggghhhh ....." she screamed as she fell into the water
She held her head tightly as if she were to die
"KAGOME...KAGOME-CHAN WHATS WRONG?!!" Sango screamed trying to help her friend to safety
she carried her for as far as she could [wich was to the campsite] and she yelled for InuYasha
"INUYASHA!!!!!"
he ran to see kagome lieying in the ground.
"Sango what happened"
"I don't know, we were talking and all of a sudden ..she just fell over" Sango said worridly.
They laid her on the hut's floor and sat there waiting for her to awaken.
Two days later and she still hadn't stirred.
"Kagome..please wake up.." InuYasha cried.
He held her in his arms rocking back and forth.
She finally awoke only to scream an earth shattering scream.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" her eyes turned a mystical in-human blue and then returned back to normal.
"Kagome." he screamed
"Inu--Yasha"
"Kagome I'm here " he said to calm her.
he held her tightly to his chest as she drifted to sleep again
"Kagome ...Kagome wake up !!! Please wake up"
"I'm, awake but ...what happend InuYasha"
"Sango said you passed out and you were sleeping for two days " he stuttered as she threw herself on him.
"InuYasha I'm sorry . I'm soo sorry"
"What why are you sorry?"
"Because I'm going to kill you"
"No your not Kagome whats wrong with you?"
"I had a premonition about my future"
"Your future?"
"I was going to become some one of immense power of both great and deadly proportions and I was going to kill you while I killed Naraku at the same time."
"Kagome you can't possibly be the....you are"
"I'm the what?"
"Shinigama" was the only worsd to escape his lips before
tears fled to his eyes.
"InuYasha whats the Shinigama? what wrong.?....why are you...crying?"
"Your going to die, and by your owns hands. Fate has chosen you to bear its painful destiny" Keada cried as she entered the room
"What does fate have to do with this? what is the Shinigama and what are you talking about?" Kagome cried
"The Shinigama was known as the Goddess of Death.
Every time a powerful evil that noone but the Shinigama her self could destroy, they released her. She would destroy the evil and eventually everyone she loved as well.And the only way to get the Shinigama to leave was to kill the person the spirit had chosen to bear it"
"But why me?"
"You, Kagome, are the wisest choice. You are powerful and have endured hardships that make you stronger. The Shinigama believes you to be the best choice. It is both an honour and a curse."
"But how did InuYasha know?"
"Kikyo was aswell the Shinigama as you are now."
"No there must be some way to keep this from happening"
She cried painful sobs onto InuYasha's hamaka.
"Kagome I'm sorry"
InuYasha stroked her hair as Keada left them to comfort each other.
After a long silence Kagome spoke
"InuYasha I don't want to be this ..this thing"
"Kagome there is no other choice, the Shinigama chose you and you will die at her chosing."
he regreted his choice of words
Kagome got up and ran out of the hut and the comfort of her mate.

Once outside Sango questioned her
"Kagome..whats going on? what was all the crying in there? why are you crying????"
"Sango , I'm the Shinigama.......... Goddess of death. .......My fate is to kill Naraku ...........and everyone I love in the process ......................as well as killing myself."
Sango wrapped her arms around her friend.
"Don't worry Kagome we will find a way around this "
"There is no way" she cried

"I hate to see them like this"
"As do I my friend. As do I" Miroku added
He then turned to Keada.
"So Keada how does this fate work?"
"The great evil, Naraku, appears and the Shinigama, Kagome,
destroys the evil along with herself, and those closest to her, namely you five. Sango, yourself, InuYasha, Shippoe and Kilala."
"Why are you not included Keada"
"Because I am not nearly as close as you few are"

"Kagome I'm soo sorry fate chose you"
"Me too "
"I'll follow right behind you , aswell as them."
"Thank you but no . I can't allow you to be harmed because of me" she said packing her bow and arrows. Sango had given her a slayers uniform like hers to wear, she added extra sheilding to keep her safer.
"Good bye Kagome"
"Good bye Sango" she replied hugging her friend

She reached the layer of Naraku and he was waiting for her.
"I see they have chosen a new Shinigama, what a shame to waste such a beauty, but now you must die"
he said smirking
"Naraku the only one dieing today is you"
"Yes today"
"What"
"Foolish girl the Shinigama's spirit kills her hostess after killing the evil"
"Fine then I accept my destiny, do you?"
At that the two begun their dance of death, slashing each other with there weapons.
The sounds of clanging metal and tearing flesh echoed throughout the forest. Screams tore through InuYasha's ears as he heard her war cry.
Kagome shot him twice in the head with her arrows and he slashed her rins and chest with his claws.
Her blood dreched him, as well as his mixed with hers on her skin.
"Do you give up wench?"
"Never bastard"
she grinded her teeth and dove into another fight.
he seemed to be weakening as the arrows hit him.
InuYasha saw the fight, Kagome had changed so much
her skin was blood covered and dark, her eyes were the same ice blue that he had seen when she screamed and her ears were pricked slightly.

"Thats it the shinigama hads taken her" Miroku said
"We have to help her."
"And we will"
InuYasha lept down to block an attack .
"Kagome run"
"InuYasha I can't"
She shot more arrows at him
InuYasha did his backlash wave and sent him down
"KAGOME GET OUT OF HERE "
"NO!!" she yelled as Naraku got back up
he aimed for Sango and Miroku
"SANGO..MIROKU LOOK OUT"
but it was too late. Miroku shoved Sango out of the way, taking the hit to the chest.
"MIROKU!!!!!!!!!" Sango screamed.
she was mourning the loss of her soon to be husband when the same this that killed him, shot her down.
SANGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Kagome cried out.
her cry peirced Naraku leaving him vulnurable.
InuYasha attacled with the backlash wave.
Naraku was finally dead.

"Kagome..... " he looked over at her mourning figuer
"Kagome..he's dead.."
"But look what we lost."
she pointed to Miroku and Sango's lifeless bodies.
"Kagome they knew their fate and accepted it"
"I know but....I ..." she fell over in pain once again
"Kagome whats wrong!!!" he screamed holding her up
"It's the Shinigama......... she's ready to leave.....Im going to die.....either way I was going to lose you..
"Kagome no your not!!!"
"Yes I am..I love you InuYasha"
"Kagome don't speak like that, Im not letting you go"
"InuYasha shut up...just kiss me one last time"
He complied to the dying girls request
their last kiss was filled with passion
her finally broke away .
"I love you Kagome."
he said as the girl layed, dead, in his arms.
He took the Tetsusaiga and ran it through his heart.

Epilougue
The four graves lay underneath the Goshinbuku.
Kilala lay next to Sango's and watched as
Shippoe walked over to them, placing flowers on them all.
"I understand lady Keada but why did i not die"
"You were not there. she wished you not to die as well as the others but they came allong any way and recieved their destined fate."
she stopped and began a second later after Shippoe left
"The Shinigama, powerful and deadly, was to recieve an unjust fate, she saved everyone and lost anyone who ever mattered to her. I pray there souls may rest " she said walking away, a single tear fell from her eye.
