Chapter 1,
The worst birthday memory and a new friend:
A sunny afternoon continued on as Maisu strolled along a gleaming stream. The sun's reflection on the water danced in the shade of a cherry blossom tree, along the shore. Birds sang, and the wind blew calmly through the forest, it was a normally peaceful day, well at least that's what you would expect.
Maisu's silver hair flowed behind her, beside her snowy silk kimono. A walk along a river was what a normal day for her was like. Nothing really was exciting to her anymore, besides the bothersome demons and humans that would find their ways to her, life to her was as peaceful as it was now.
The cherry blossoms would often remind her of her late parents. As a child, she would often go on picnics with her mother around this time. To Maisu, it was hard to believe that it had already been fifty years since her passing.

“MOM!!!!” her voice rang out among the other screaming and frantic villager's. Flames engulfed the village where she had once lived, and many of the homes had been demolished. “MAISU!!” Maisu could barely hear her mother's voice, but her sensitive ears managed to pick it up.
She jumped and bounded over the frantic people, trying as best she could to avoid hurting anyone. There!! She had spotted her mother in a clearing. As she was nearly there, someone jumped from above, and beat her to her mother.
The shadowy figure wore a red kimono, and matching pants. His long silver hair managed to hide his white dog ears, but her eyes had spotted them the moment he came into view. Before she could reach them, the tall hanyou sent blades of red light hurling towards her mother, sending a blood curdling scream into Maisu's ears.
The scream stunned Maisu for a moment, leaving her standing there. She kept screaming in her mind, “NO, OH GOD PLEASE LET HER BE ALRIGHT” when she finally snapped out of it she used her demonic speed to reach her mother in a split second. What she saw made her freeze up like she had hypothermia. Her mother was lying on the ground with her back turned to Maisu, but she had cuts on every inch of her body, they were bleeding badly, and the worst part of all she didn't seem to be breathing.
“no….” she whimpered, trying to choke down the tears, but finally giving up, letting one after another fall onto her mother's dead body. Maisu bent down and embraced her mother, trying to convince herself that she wasn't gone for good, just simply sleeping soundly. She quietly lay down next to her, pretending to be lifeless and dead, in case the murderer returned.

That was the worst night of her life, and it was even worse than she could have thought, it was on the one night that everything was supposed to be perfect. It was her birthday.
The wind continued to play in her silver hair, as she continued on her way. Her white fluffy inu ears twitched at each sound she heard, a blue jay, the sound of the wind, and occasionally she heard a twig or leave crack. Then, something peaked her interest, the sound of someone crying. She was sure that they were crying, when the smell of saline filled the air.
Maisu sped through the forest, bounding into a thick patch of trees. She perched herself upon a large branch, and peered from the shadows. She saw something that she had never seen before, a small fox youkai. The small youkai wore a small kimono type outfit and had a small little bow atop its head. The fox tyke was sitting on top of a small rock in the middle of a hot spring, crying its heart out.
She approached hesitantly, avoiding contact with it at first. A cracking sound broke the silence from below one of her feet, “oh shit…” the little fox tyke paused and looked towards where the sound had originated from. “Who…who is that? Inuyasha are you trying to scare me again?”
Maisu looked around to make sure that no one else was around, and then cautiously came out from hiding. “My name is Maisu….no Inuyasha” she walked slowly towards the fox tyke and smiled. “And what is your name, young one?” her voice was so soothing, and soft hiding her true nature. She could trace a small blush upon his face “my….my name is shippo…” his voice was small and innocent, Maisu couldn't help but giggle under her breath.
“Well I'm very sorry if I startled you there” she came to where he was sitting and bent down. “Are you alright?” she checked him from head to toe. Shippo simply nodded. Good….I'm gl….” She was cut off. “SHIPPO!! Where are you?” it was the sound of a girl's voice. “Kagome!!” the little tyke ran off only to stop again and turn towards Maisu. “Aren't you gonna come? Kagome's really nice” Shippo looked up at her with huge puppy dog eyes. “Now how could I refuse to that cute face?” she gave a fake smile and nodded.
Shippo lead Maisu towards the girl at the edge of the spring, hopping upon the many rocks. They were nearly there, when something overcame her. Maisu's vision became blurry and her strength left in almost an instant. Her side ached as if something had pierced it, and as she reached down to hold it, warm blood flowed down her leg. What's happening to me? Her once sparkling eyes became dull as she lost consciousness. The last thing she heard was the sound of a man yelling at the top of his lungs, the name Kagome.
