Soujiro: That's a pathetic excuse…

Soujiro: Really…

Chapter 6: My Savior, My Rival

"Hmmm… now this seems like a predicament…" Kouga sneered at InuYasha.

"Kouga!" Kagome gasped as the vines tightened around her neck.

InuYasha growled as Kouga cut Kagome's binds and caught her bridal style. His vines tightened their grip, leaving him gasping for breath. Kagome ran to help InuYasha while Kouga helped free the other four.

"Well, I've never seen you around these parts. Who might you be?" Kouga examined Zephyr, who was still bound by the vines.

"That's Zephyr, we met her about two weeks ago in a forest about10 miles west of here," Kagome replied pointing towards the west as InuYasha fell to the ground with a huge thump.

"Pretty little thing isn't she? Though her blood smells like dog turd's," Kouga flicked a piece of hair from Zephyr's face and cut the vines, catching her bridal style as well.

Zephyr stared up at Kouga curiously. Her hand went to his ponytail and started playing with it. Kouga promptly dropped Zephyr to the ground and moved to Kagome, who was helping InuYasha up off the ground.

"So muttface, getting beaten up by grass are we now? A little rusty eh?"

"Shut it wolf…" InuYasha spat.

Sango and Miroku quickly retrieved their weapons and joined Kagome, InuYasha, Kouga, Zephyr, and Shippou. Kagome was, once again, trying to keep InuYasha and Kouga from fighting.

"Oh get over yourselves! What are you, three?!" Kagome snapped, trying to separate the two.

"Don't bother Kagome, they're both too pigheaded to know what "stop" means," Zephyr snorted and flopped down on the ground.

"Pigheaded eh?" InuYasha pounced on Zephyr roughly and the two of them began a wrestling/tickling match.

"Ohhhh, I swear! They're both so immature!!" Kagome exclaimed and plopped down on the ground.

Sango sat down next to her and gave her a warm smile and patted her shoulder sympathetically. Miroku tried to as well, except his hand went a little bit further in from her shoulder and was knocked unconscious by Sango. Kouga watched InuYasha and Zephyr with their wrestling match carefully. His attention was more to Zephyr that InuYasha.

"They're related… somehow," he pondered under his breath.

"Yes indeed…"

Kouga looked on his shoulder to see the form of Myouga the flea.

"Where the hell'd you come from!?" Kouga yelled and flicked Myouga off his arm like the parasite he was.

"Kouga-kun? Who're you talking to?" Kagome asked sweetly and looked at him curiously.

"No one important my dear Kagome," Kouga smiled and walked to her.

"I resent that fact!" Myouga leapt up to Kagome's shoulder.

"Myouga! What brings you here?" Kagome asked, slightly surprised at his sudden appearance.

"I've been trying to find the relationship between Zephyr and Lord InuYasha…"

"Have you found anything?" Shippou piped in and crawled up on Kagome's lap.

"Well, I have noticed that she is of resemblance of the young child who died in the burning of the Western Castle 13 years ago."

Scenes of the burning castle flashed through Kagome's mind. The little girl and the young Sesshomaru and InuYasha. The little girl who was dragged away into the forest. There was a resemblance between the two of them. And it was Zephyr's `dream' that she saw… so maybe…

"And hearing Kouga saying that her blood resembles Lord InuYasha's causes me to wonder even more," Myouga jumped over to Zephyr and observed her and InuYasha.

"So you give up yet? Am I still pigheaded?" InuYasha growled playfully as he pinned Zephyr to the ground.

"NEVER!!!!" Zephyr giggled and tackled him to the ground and viciously attacked his sides with swift fingers.

"I cannot say for sure. The late Taiyoukai is dead and Sesshomaru-sama probably does not remember 13 years ago. He had probably forced himself to forget about it."

"What about the child's mother?" Sango questioned, quietly stroking Kirara on her lap.

"No one knows what happened to her, some say she disappeared after her daughter died. Others say she was mercilessly slaughtered by her mate's side."

"How sad…" Shippou murmured glancing towards Zephyr and InuYasha.

"What did the young child look like?" Miroku asked sitting down in front of Kagome and Sango.

Myouga jumped in between the four and sat down.

"She was a pretty child. Her hair was silver with blue streaks throughout it. Her eyes, a bright energetic blue. She wore a blue kimono around the castle, which bore crystals of ice painted upon it. She had small black kitten ears with a white outline around the edges and her wolfish tail was black with streaks of white on the ends and middle. On her forehead she donned a…"

"Crescent moon with a star dot between the tips of the moon," Kagome and Myouga replied together.

"Kagome?" Miroku, Sango, Shippou, and Myouga looked at Kagome.

"Well, you remember that day that Zephyr and I had slept for almost half the day? Well, we were in a dark forest hollow. Instead of very many plants, there were towers of crystal and crystal plants all around us. We danced around and Zephyr manipulated the water to dance around us. Then it turned dark. Fire circled us and the land changed into a burning castle. We met two small children, a younger Sesshomaru and the small girl. Zephyr was her name, she clung to her brother's hand dearly. And Sesshomaru was protective of her very much. As we fled through the burning walls you caught a glimpse of a woman holding a younger InuYasha. And as we reached the entrance of the castle, a cloaked man snatched Zephyr and dragged her into the forest. Then we awoke." Kagome finished her story and glanced over at Zephyr and InuYasha.

The two had stopped wrestling to hear out Zephyr's story. After Kagome finished, Zephyr came bounding up and interrogated Kagome on Sesshomaru.

"Ooooooooooooooh who's Sesshomaru? Tell meh!!!" She whined.

"He's a murderous bastard, avoid him at all costs…" Inuyasha snarled, strangling a leaf in his hands imagining it was Sesshomaru's neck.

"Well, let's see. He's about six inches taller than InuYasha. He has silver hair and gold eyes like InuYasha, but his hair is longer and straighter. He has his tail wrapped around his neck, and it's reaaaaally long. He's got these red marks on his eyes and two stripes on each hand, oh! And also has a crescent moon on his forehead. There are also two swords strapped to his waist."

"Hmmmmmm… sounds familiar, wonder where I saw him last?" Zephyr leaned her head back and forth, "Oh well…"

InuYasha glared at Zephyr as she went skipping by and over to Kouga. Kagome giggled at his antics and went over to sit beside him. Sango pulled her boomerang into her lap and began cleaning it. Miroku sat down beside her and watched her work, but that didn't last very long.

"Don't be jealous InuYasha…"

"Jealous!? Of what!?"

"Kouga…"

"Why would I be jealous of Kouga?"

"Your looking at him angrily…"

"Because he's still here…"

"I'm not going with him if that's what you're worried about."

"Feh, I knew that…"

"……………………… ;………… and hoooooow would you know that?"

"Cause I won't allow it!!!!!"

"………… Sit boy…"

"THUMP!"

Zephyr peered over at InuYasha and Kagome, grinning ear to ear about InuYasha's misfortune. Kagome got up and joined Zephyr with Kouga.

"So, what were you two talking about?" Kagome started.

"Nothing much, Kouga was just asking a few things about mah childhood," Zephyr replied stretching her arms.

"Oh?"

"Yeah, well, dog face doesn't seem to be enjoying my company so I think I'll leave for today. I've already tortured him enough. Goodbye Kagome," Kouga bent down and kissed Kagome hand before sprinting off in a burst of wind smiling happily to himself.

"I'LL KILL HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" InuYasha roared and struggled to run after him, though Miroku and Sango were holding him back.

"SAYANARA!!!!!!!!!! KOUGA-KUN!!!!!!!" Zephyr shouted happily jumping up and down waving her hands.

"Ja ne!" Kagome called out before turning to face InuYasha.

"What was that?" InuYasha growled.

"What does it matter? Sit…"

"THUMP!"

"I swear… one of these days I'm just gonna… gaaaaaaaaaaah!! He's so overprotective!! I can't be near any of my male friends without him thinking something stupid!!" Kagome complained angrily.

Sango, Miroku, and Zephyr sweatdropped and giggled amongst themselves.

"I don't see what InuYasha hates about Kouga-kun. He's very polite and sweet." Zephyr said, staring off into space.

"I don't either, he's nice guy. Not someone that I'd date or anything, but a good friend." Kagome replied.

InuYasha, who was eavesdropping from the trees, sighed in relief at Kagome's words. Though he was still a bit worried about Kouga, he knew that Kagome wouldn't agree to anything with him.

"Date?" Zephyr asked questionably.

"It means to court someone," Kagome explained.

"Oh… well, I wouldn't date Kouga either, he's just a nice guy," Zephyr agreed.

"Hey Sango, come join our girl talk!" Kagome called, peering over at Sango.

Sango trekked over to Zephyr and Kagome and sat down.

"Well, we all know who Sango likes…" Zephyr grinned widely.

"Hmmmmmmm… I think his name starts with an "M", am I right Sango?" Kagome smiled.

Sango blushed and looked at Zephyr and Kagome startled.

"W-what do you mean!? Miroku and me!?!" Sango screeched, blushing deeply.

"That's what we thought…" Zephyr and Kagome giggled triumphantly and nudged Sango over at Miroku.

Soujiro: Just what she needs right?

Zephyr: ::singing:: He wasn't what I wanted, what I thought now. He wouldn't even open up the door. He doesn't make me feel like I was special. He isn't really what I'm looking for!!

Ascot: ???

Zephyr: You were everything, everything that I wanted. We were meant to be, supposed to be but we lost it. Out of the memories so close to me, just fade away. All this time you were pretending, so much for my happy ending!!

Ascot: These songs are happy?

Zephyr: They're good songs and somewhat true!

Soujiro: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight…

Zephyr: What would you know? Now do the end of chapter rant!!!
