A Strengthening Storm Ch. 2
The Admiral sat in his leather chair, enjoying a glass of whiskey. He had decided that he was going to relax a bit before he prepared for Inuyasha and his mate to arrive. He sat the near empty glass down and looked at his claws. It had been a long time since he had walked around without a care as to who saw him as a demon.
It had been quite a shock to everyone that saw him. Most demons only paid their utmost respects, humans however were slightly more afraid of him. His driver was the only one that didn't give him much trouble. When the Admiral asked why he wasn't frightened of him, the man just said that if you wanted to kill me you would have done it by now. This only made the Admiral laugh.
Glancing back again at his whiskey glass, he watched it as Kailae refilled it. He admired her golden hair, and as she turned around he couldn't help but stare at her waving tail. It would just wave back and forth as she walked, swaying this way and that. The Admiral shook his head about such thoughts, he could never have a mate again. He then turned his attention back to his now filled glass and began to drain it. Once he finished with that he decided that he should help Kailae get ready for the dinner.

Sango and Inuyasha were admiring the view as they rode in a military provided car to the Admiral's home. Inuyasha marveled that the man would want to be this far out and away from the city. He knew that the Admiral loved the country and owned an Equine (horse) operation. He was even more amazed as they passed the pastures where the horses were kept and pulled into a gravel road that led deep into a forest, or at least what looked like one.
After a few minutes both the occupants were out of the vehicle, staring at the beautiful house. Inuyasha thought it looked more like an English Manor more that it did a house. The couple walked to the door, which was heavy carved oak. When Inuyasha knocked, a Kitsune youkai opened it. This again surprised Inuyasha as he thought that the Admiral had always lived alone.
"Welcome, my name is Kailae. I am a Kitsune hanyou, in case you were wondering." Kailae said as she saw the two looking at her.
"Wait, I have seen you before. You were with the Admiral that night at the Military Ball weren't you. Are....are his wife?" Inuyasha said the last part silently.
Inuyasha had always noticed the golden band that the Admiral was always wearing but had never asked the man if he was married.
"Yes, that was me. But, I am not his wife. Please come into the lounge and have a seat." Kailae beckoned, trying to stop herself from blushing.
As they went to sit on the couch the Admiral came in and offered them a drink. When everyone was settled he sat down and motioned for Kailae to join them. It took every ounce of control for Inuyasha not to stare at the Admiral's demonic traits. The claws, fangs, white hair, and of course the two dog ears on his head.
"Welcome to my humble abode. I see you have already met my lovely servant Kailae." The Admiral said.
When the formalities were over and everyone was introduced to each other the Admiral dismissed Kailae for her to go and finish the dinner preparations. He again watched as she left with a smile on his face, she was so beautiful in that outfit she was wearing. He was ripped from his thoughts as he looked at the two Hanyous staring at him.
"What?" The Admiral queried.
"N...Nothing" Both Inuyasha and Sango managed, they had caught the way the Admiral stared at his servant.
"Very well, Inuyasha I have asked you and Sango here today to tell ya'll about myself. I do not wish to stay in the shadows any longer." The admiral said as he took another sip of his drink.
"You both know me as the Admiral, though Inuyasha knows me as a different person from his past. Do you remember the name....Kainen, Inuyasha?" The Admiral asked.
Inuyasha was paying very close attention to the Admiral, he had always wanted to know about the man, who had seemingly known all about Inuyasha himself. When the Admiral mentioned the name Kainen, it didn't take long for Inuyasha to recall the name.
"Yeah, it was a name of a sword smith long ago. He took care of me and protected me while I was a child." Inuyasha said blushing slightly at his last sentence.
"This may come as a shock to you Inuyasha, but it has to be said. I am Kainen. I know you had noticed how I looked like him when you first saw me as the Admiral. Though you didn't ever make the connection, I was saddened that you would forget me, but thought it would be better in the long run."
"How, how can you be Kainen? He was a human." Inuyasha managed to ask.
"Do you remember that strange scent that you would always smell around me? Well, that was me in my demon form. I would always put on the concealment ring before you ever saw me." The Admiral answered.
"But, something even more important than me being Kainen. My name is Lord InuToshiro, I was a good friend of your father, InuTaisho. When he died I was bound by an oath to watch over you and your mother. My mate died long ago and with her my unborn pup. As you know if one mate dies, the other is not long in following. Your Father came one night and I died next to him. He knew even then he was nearing death and used the Tensaiga to bring me back to life. He explained his dilemma and I vowed to watch over you and Izayoi. I failed in watching over her and I could not let that fate befall you."
The Admiral explained events in Inuyasha's childhood that were questionable, where Inuyasha had just thought himself lucky. It turned out that InuToshiro was behind most, if not all, of the strange occurrences.
"InuToshiro..." Inuyasha said using the personal name.
"Shiro, Inuyasha....my close friends, before I became the Admiral called me Shiro." Shiro said with a bit of sadness in his voice.
"Shiro, I cannot believe that I would meet you. My mother used to tell me of a strong Inuyoukai that had taken care of her after my father died." Inuyasha said.
"She...she did?" Shiro couldn't believe that Izayoi told Inuyasha about him and Inuyasha didn't try to find him.
"I tried to find you, but when I arrived where your home was it was gone, and had been for years. I just assumed you had gone as well." Inuyasha stated.
Shiro sat in his chair and could barely contain himself. He had longed to tell Inuyasha all of this. He felt like the boy's father. At that moment Kailae interrupted them and told everyone dinner was ready.
At the dinner table Kailae felt a bit out of place. She was the only non Inuyoukai or Inu hanyou around. She quickly ate her dinner and soon assumed the role of servant again.
When dinner was finished Sango asked where the bathroom was and Kailae proceeded to show her. When the women were gone Inuyasha reached into his pocket and produced a wrapped bundle and handed it to the Inuyoukai in front of him.
"There's your damn cigars." Inuyasha said smiling. "So do you have any of your old swords, Old man?"
"That I do, Inuyasha. If you call me an old man again I will be sure that you meet one up close and personal." Shiro said laughing. "I also still have a smithy on the grounds and will start work on a blade for Sango, her demon blood will need to be sealed the same as yours is."
Inuyasha nodded, Shiro had answered his question for him. He watched the dog lord rise and followed him around his house and through a door that led into a room.
He couldn't believe the number of swords in the room. They were all over the walls, some were in glass display cases while others were hanging by pegs.
"This, Inuyasha, is my show room. This is were any demons in need of a sword can look at the craftsmanship that I am capable of. I can even rival Toutosai, if need be, though I am in no hurry to do so." Shiro stated with a serious tone. "I will finally be able to start back sword smithing. I have not taken very many orders over the past years. But, seeing as I am revealing myself, I can start up business again."
"Shiro, does Sesshoumaru know about you?" Inuyasha asked, wondering how his half brother would take to the news.
"Yes, he does. He had never forgotten Kainen and was able to see past my lies. So I had to pull the Alpha male string on him not to tell anyone. He didn't like that, haha." Shiro could barely hold in his laughter as he said this.
Inuyasha could only grin trying to think of his brother having to submit to anyone. He still couldn't imagine it but it must have happened.
"By the way Inuyasha, congratulations, you're gonna be a father." The Inuyoukai said.
Inuyasha nearly passed out. How could he tell? Inuyasha had forgotten he was dealing with a demon much more powerful than Inuyasha himself. He stood shell shocked, he hadn't been able to pick up the scent.
"I see you took my advice to pup Sango. Don't worry, you will be able to tell soon. Maybe in a few days. I believe you will be having twins. Hmmm, twin Hanyous - may god have mercy on your soul Inuyasha." Shiro managed.
Inuyasha was extremely happy and shocked at the same time. He was going to be a father....of twins. He couldn't believe it. Now all he had to do was tell Sango. He would do it later tonight when they arrived home.
"Inuyasha, you know what this means don't you? It means that you will not be going with your team on any operations in 6 months. I am sorry, but I will be transferring you to a training facility not too far away. Once your pups are born you will understand my choices. I do this for the pups, not for you." Shiro put a cigar to his mouth and lit it.
He looked at the face Inuyasha had made and couldn't help but put an arm around him. He had gone from the happiest man on earth to being the saddest one.
"I already told you I was sorry. But, even I am not brave enough to tell Sango that she won't be doing any more ops at all. I leave that to you. Have fun Inuyasha, I will see you when you come for your next assignment." Shiro said as Sango returned from the restroom with Kailae at her heals.
Inuyasha and Sango climbed back into the car that had brought them and soon were back at the Ranch house. Inuyasha had been silent the entire ride and Sango knew something was bothering him.
"Inuyasha, Mate, what's wrong" She said while moving her lips toward his.
Inuyasha let her put her lips to his and he ran his tongue along her bottom lip for entrance. As their tongues battled for dominance, Inuyasha broke the kiss. He looked deep into Sango's eyes and took a deep breath.
"Sango, you....you're pregnant...with twins." Inuyasha managed to get out.
