On with the story...

Inuyasha unwillingly followed his dad into the studio. He glanced at his watch and scowled.

"Inuyasha, go sit over there, she should be here in a minute."

"It's 7:00 on a Saturday morning. I usually sleep until at least 11. Tell me again why you are making me do this."

"Because I said so."

"Is that the only thing you know how to say?"

"Maybe."

"Whatever."

The sound of a car pulling up and a door slamming was heard outside.

"Dad, please don't make me do this." Inuyasha begged.

He frowned at that. His son never resorted to begging, but it wasn't going to fool him. He wasn't getting out of this even if he begged for hours.

"Mr. Taisho, what do you want me to do first?"

"Do a few warm up stretches, and then ya'll will run two laps around the track."

"Why?"

"Because I said, Inuyasha."

"Mr. Taisho, you really don't have to make him run. I'm sure he already runs enough with track practice and stuff."

"Kagome, you know exactly why my son is here, do you not?"

"Yes sir." she replied.

"Okay then."

Kagome heard a muttered reply from Inuyasha that sounded suspiciously like 'bastard', and fought back a giggle. 'He really doesn't want to be here does he?' she thought.

~?~?~?~?~?~?~

Kagome finished the laps in record time, and was satisfied with Mr. Taisho's nod of approval.

"Inuyasha, go and get three bottles of water from my ice chest. I need to speak with Kagome."

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and stomped off towards his dad's truck.

"Kagome, I am very pleased."

"Thanks."

"You seem to be just the kind of person that I was looking for. You sure seem to have no problem with my son's temper."

"Actually, I find it funny."

"I have faith in you Kagome, but I have something to tell you."

"And that is...?"

"The competition was canceled."

"But why are we here?"

"Because of my son."

"..."

"Kagome, I am doing this for his sake. I need your help though. You need to pretend that everything is still scheduled for this summer. I won't make you do it. That will be your choice."

"I guess that I'll still do it."

"Thank you so much."

"No problem."

Kagome did have a problem, and he was walking her way.

"Well Kagome, I have to run home to get something."

"Dad, you're leaving me here?"

"Oh yes I am." said his dad as he cranked the truck and pulled off.

"Damn it!"

"You really don't want to be here, do you?"

"Hell no!"

Kagome glanced at him. "Well, you kinda do deserve it, you know. You shouldn't have done that to the gym." She was about to continue, but stopped at the angrt look on his face.

"I didn't do anything to the fuckin' gym. I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time."

"I'm sorry."

"Forget about it."

"But..."

"I said forget about it okay."

"Whatever."

Kagome looked around for a decent spot on the ground and lay down, raising her shirt up just a little to help her cool off. The day was a little humid after all.

Inuyasha, being the highschool boy that he was, couldn't help but glance down at her. Her skin was flawless, excluding one scar on her side that extended from her hip to within an inch or two from her bellybutton. Inuyasha's eyes widened in recognition.

"I know who you are."

"Do you?" came her reply.

"That scar...you're the one that they..."

"I'd rather not talk about it okay."

"You should, you know."

"No, I shouldn't." she said as she pulled her shirt down.

"They shouldn't have done that."

"And you should have stopped them."

"I..."

"You what?"

"..."

"Maybe I deserved it." kagome threw over her shoulder as she stood up and walked off.
