A Vacation to Remember

“Ohhhhh this is so great!” Kagome squeaked as she stretched out her arms and beckoned the bright warmth of the sun upon her smiling face. Inuyasha just looked at her as if she were a foolish girl and keh’ed irritably. But he knew as well as she did that the tough guy attitude was just for show. He liked seeing the smiling Kagome and he liked knowing that he helped put that smile on her lips.

Kagome ignored him and gazed at the sight before her, a white sandy landscape dissipated into calm blue seas, gently rocking onto the frothy shoreline. So peaceful, the scene took her breath away. The calming sounds of the waves swashing onto the beach held Kagome in a daze. She didn’t even notice that Inuyasha had moved to stand next to her until he spoke.

“It stinks here.”
“I think it’s beautiful.” Kagome turned to grin at his scowling face.
Unable to hold his scowl when faced with a smile like the one on Kagome’s face now, he let it fade and gave her his best smile while trying not to breathe in the salty oceanic scents assaulting his nose. ‘Not as beautiful as you.’ He silently mused.

“It still stinks,” he said still smiling at her and wrinkling his nose to emphasize his point.

A loud slap from behind them and startled the pair from their current occupation of smiling at each other. They turned to see that Kirara had finally arrived with Sango, Miroku, and Shippo on her back. As per usual, Miroku, up to his old perverted ways, was sporting a fresh red hand print on his face. Sango was steaming red in the face and yelled at him with the same intensity in her eyes. “I swear Letcher, if you grab me one more time on this trip, I’m going to render you unconscious for the entire vacation!!”

Sango leapt off Kirara and ran to where Kagome and Inuyasha stood, rolling their eyes.
“What an idiot.” Shippo blatantly said to Kirara, who growled in agreement. Sighing, the pained monk slipped off the two-tail and hurried after the object of his affections.

Absorbing the beauty of their current location, the six companions silently let their bodies relax after the squabble as they starred out to sea.

Inuyasha once again turned to watch Kagome. She was recovering from their last battle well. Her ribs, he knew, were still bruised. He could hear her wince into his hair every time he landed too roughly as he ran to this place with her on his back.

Though Naraku had yet to be defeated, they had beaten back Kagura and slaughtered the horde of demons she had brought with her in their last attempt to steal Kagome’s remaining jewel shard. Kagome had been hurt however while he was distracted by Kagura. He had still managed to slice off the head of the filthy demon that attacked her, but only after it had grabbed her and flung her against a tree.

Kagome wasn’t hurt bad, but it was enough for Inuyasha to realize that they needed to rest for a while before the group continued their quest for Naraku’s heart. He had been pushing them extremely hard after they had realized the truth about the one way to kill the evil half-demon Naraku and had escaped from the giant stone demon’s stomach he had trapped them in. He had been strong enough to use his new move, Kongousouha, to get them out, thanks to the shard of the Shikon-no-tama and Kagome’s support. They had been traveling non-stop since then. Kagome never even asked to go home and no one had complained about the grueling pace he had set.

After the last battle with Kagura, he could tell the strain of travel and battle were wearing his friends down, and when Kagome had been injured, he finally decided they needed a break. Wanting to do something Kagome would like, he remembered how much she had enjoyed the few times they had been to the coast. Even though the salty air made his head ache, he lead his group there because he knew it would make them happy, most of all Kagome. She had been through so much lately and remained strong throughout every challenge they faced; she deserved a break.

A small voice broke through his thoughts. “Inuyasha. Are you all right?” Kagome looked up at him. Her hair stirred around her face from the warm sea wind. She had a slight blush on her cheeks. He turned away blushing as well when he realized he had been starring at her for several minutes.

“It almost appeared as if our Inuyasha was actually in deep thought just now.” Miroku said to ease the sudden tension in the air.

“That can’t be right.” Shippo sneered as he jumped to Inuyasha’s shoulder, peering into his gold eyes. “Inuyasha doesn’t get deep thoughts.” Shippo’s grinning face quickly turned to one of fright as Inuyasha’s fist came down to smack him on the head, leaving a large bump.

“Shut up you little whelp or I’m gunna use you as bait when I go fishing.” He glared down at the small fox who now sat on Kagome’s shoulder rubbing his head.

“Owww! Kagome, Inuyasha hit me again! Make him SIT!” Shippo stuck his tongue out at Inuyasha who was preparing to carry out his threat. He hit Shippo again over the head leaving an even larger welt. “Keh. You stared it.”

“Wahhhh Kagome!!” Shippo wailed for sympathy.

Kagome let out a deep sigh as she studied her two demon children. “I’m going to have to side with Inuyasha on this one Shippo. That was awful mean of you to say.” She said giving him a stern motherly look.

“Ha.” Inuyasha shouted, puffing his chest out at the pouting fox. “Take that runt.” Once again he beat the little kit with his fist.

“Inuyasha!” Kagome now turned on him. “Once is enough for crying out loud! Leave poor Shippo alone! He’s just a kid!” She lowered her head and attempted to rub away the headache she could feel coming. “Uhhhh. So much for a nice quiet vacation,” she mumbled. “Can’t you act like an adult for once?!”

Not giving up her time at the beach just yet, Kagome ignored both sulking males and went to Sango.
“Sango-chan, want to go for a swim? I brought an extra swimsuit from home.” Kagome used her best puppy-dog eyes to beg her friend who gave in with a sigh.

“Um, Kagome-chan...what’s a ‘sim-soot’?”

Kagome giggled and grabbed Sango’s hand, pulling her to an out cropping of rocks. “I’ll show you. We can change over here.” She threw a glare over her shoulder at Miroku. “No peeking either!”

Several minutes later Kagome, clad in a sleek black bikini, emerged from behind the rocks using all her strength to pull Sango with her. The single jewel shard, in a new bottle, hung around her neck.

“Kagome-chan! I can’t go out there like this! I’m hardly wearing anything!” Sango struggled to remain out of sight from Miroku, who had turned to watch them when he head Sango’s words. He had a huge grin plastered to his face.

Inuyasha followed Miroku’s gaze and saw him gaping at the scantily clothed Kagome as she struggled with Sango. He momentarily forgot about bonking the monk for looking at Kagome as he himself became preoccupied by her long legs and flat stomach. He never realized his jaw had dropped lower than even Miroku’s.

Finally convincing Sango to come out by offering a towel from her bag to wrap her self in, Kagome pulled Sango towards the water. Sango was wearing a one-piece dark purple suit. When Kagome had grabbed the suits from her dresser, she knew Sango would want a more conservative one.

The two women approached the jaw-dropped men sitting on the beach. Miroku had wisely turned to stare at Sango instead of Kagome after hearing Inuyasha growling.

Kagome was expecting this kind of reaction from Miroku, but catching Inuyasha’s intense gaze on her body surprised and then embarrassed her. She blushed fiercely as she stood in front of him. Finally he brought his gaze to her eyes.

Inuyasha’s blush now matched Kagome’s. He felt incredibly warm suddenly. “Uh.” *gulp* “Ka..go..me..s-should you really be wearing t-that out here? Someone else c-could see you.” He barely managed to get the words out. Kagome, his Kagome, beautiful fully-clothed was almost naked in front of him. There was no way he would let any other male was ever going to see her like this. ‘If Miroku even looks in her direction again I’ll kill him.’

“Gomen ne Inuyasha. I’m sorry you don’t like it.” She giggled internally. She wanted to watch him squirm. She knew he cared about her, but she didn’t think he was all that attracted to her until now, especially since he never ever showed any kind of indication.

“Oi. Kagome, of course I like it....” He suddenly realized what he had just said and turned to stare at a very interesting piece of driftwood. “KEH!” He finished gruffly. Ineffectually hiding his thoughts and the pink flush on his cheeks.

“Kagome-chaaaaaannn!” Kagome looked to see Sango at the water’s edge, tightly clutching the towel around her and using her eyes to shoot daggers at Miroku who would not take his eyes off the skin she showed, knowing he would get to see more. “Can we please get into the water now?” Sango pleaded, eager to get away from Miroku’s stare.

“Coming Sango-chan!” Kagome ran to the water kicking up sand as it filtered between her toes. She ran past her nervous friend and into the beckoning surf. The water was brisk but felt great with the hot sun beating down on them. She went waist high before she turned to see if Sango had followed. Sango still stood on the shore nervously glancing at Kagome’s confused look and then to the towel covering her body from Miroku. Kagome giggled at Sango’s predicament.

“Come on Sango-chan! The water is great! Just throw the towel on the sand and run in. He won’t see a thing,” she lied trying to comfort her friend.

“Okay. I’m coming in.” Sango took an exaggerated breath and then ran into the water tossing the beach towel behind her as she went. She ran to Kagome and then lowered her body so that nothing showed on the surface except her head. Kagome couldn’t hold her laugh as Sango sighed, knowing she was finally safe. Miroku also had a huge grin on his faced as he remembered the sight of Sango’s bare legs and chest. Inuyasha scowled at his behavior, yet kept his own eyes on Kagome’s visible creamy skin. She was a wonderful distraction from the salty oceanic smells.

“I’m going in too!” Shippo shed his clothes and ran into the water. “You should come in too Inuyasha!” Shippo called out as he reached the water.

“You know Inuyasha,” Miroku stated suddenly serious, “we should probably do as Shippo suggests and join Sango and Kagome-sama.”

Inuyasha raised an eyebrow at his friend skeptically. “And why is that Bouzu?”

“Why for their own protection of course! You never know what kind of dangers are lurking under the water. The ladies don’t have any weapons...we must go and protect them.” Miroku’s tone remained serious.

Inuyasha turned his head to watch Kagome and Sango in the water. Shippo was now clinging to Kagome’s waist just above the water. She wore a radiant smile as she chatted away at Sango about swimming in her own time. The sun’s reflection on the water made her skin glow. She looked so soft and touchable. ‘Maybe she’s trying to tease me in that outfit... Would she really even mind if I came in and put my fingers on her creamy skin?’

“Perhaps you are right Monk. Kagome does need uhh protection. We should go in.” Suddenly he turned a deadly glare on Miroku who was looking very excited. “But if you so much as look at Kagome you’re the one who’s going to need protection, from me.”

Miroku gulped and then nodded. He rose from the sand, followed by Inuyasha and together they made their way to the water.

Kagome saw them coming towards them and called out, “Hey! You guys want to come in too? Because I brought swimming suits for you two as well!”

Inuyasha and Miroku stopped in their tracks and looked dumb founded at her. “Uhhh...you want us to wear those things?” Inuyasha pointed at her bikini.

“What? Haha. No, no. I have shorts for you baka!” Without letting them answer Kagome bounded out of the water towards her bag and the males. Once again Miroku had a huge grin at the sight of Kagome running out of the water, her full breasts bouncing with a lack of support. Inuyasha finally tore his own eyes off her to growl angrily and pound Miroku on the head.

Kagome heard the 'thwack' and truned to the boys. “What happened?” She asked innocently, looking expectantly at Inuyasha.

Unable to answer her, Inuyasha turned away, but not before she saw the blush on his face. Realizing what she had just done, a blush crept into her own cheeks and she resumed her trek to her yellow bag at a much slower pace.

Reaching her bag, Kagome whipped out two pairs of swimming trunks, one red, one blue and waved them at the boys. “Here ya go. See? Go change behind those rocks! The tags go in the back. Come on!”

“Allll right... Let’s go Inuyasha.” Miroku grabbed the shorts and then pulled Inuyasha behind the outcropping. Inuyasha grumbled something about pushy bitches from the future and then followed Miroku obediently.

Kagome returned to Sango’s side laughing and muttering something about slow half-demons. They swam around enjoying their break while waiting for the boys to finish.

Several long minutes passed before the masculine duo appeared from the rocky cover. Somehow they had managed to get their clothes on right. Inuyasha had been embarrassed about going bare-chested but the look on Kagome’s face drove away any self-consciousness. ‘She soo wants me.’ He laughed to himself as he watched her wide eyes and stunned expression.

Inuyasha and Miroku walked down the beach with smug smiles on. Sango and Kagome couldn’t help but stare at them. They were both muscular without being bulky, Inuyasha expecially. He had a rock hard six-pack abs and biceps to boot. Kagome had seen guys shirtless before, but none of them had looked as good as Inuyasha did now. Sure he was a little pale, but the sun glinted off of his body and made his muscles even more defined. He appeared smooth and hairless, except for the trail of fine silver threads that lead to places of her wildest dreams.

She saw him smirking at her as she devoured his body with her eyes and she realized he could probably read her thoughts by the look in his eyes. She stopped her gawking to stare into his intense golden eyes. Soon he was standing right in front of her. It took her a while to realize that he was talking to her.

“Kagome. Like what you see?” His smirk jolted her ‘awake’.

“M-maybe.” She glared at him and tried to look indifferent. It wasn’t working.

He raised his fingertips and gently wiped her chin. “Just maybe? Cause you were drooling hun.”

‘Hun!?’ Kagome’s head spun. She didn’t know whether to be mad at him or to start drooling again because he had called her ‘hun’ and touched her face. She decided to play his game instead. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him down until she could whisper seductively in his ear. “Guess I do like what I see.” Inuyasha tensed.

Figuring their ‘game’ was over Kagome started to pull away, only to be stopped by strong hands on her bare back. “You’re not going anywhere.” He growled back into her ear, his lips sweeping her temple.

Kagome felt a shudder run down her body. Before pressing against him, she looked around to see if the rest of her group still existed. Much to her surprise, Sango was no where in sight. Peering around the hard body in front of her, she saw Sango and Miroku lying on the beach, plastered with sand making out. Kagome gasped in shock and blinked twice just to make sure she hadn’t imagined anything. ‘Eeesh, and I was embarrassed for starring.’ Kagome hadn’t seen them so affectionate with each other since Miroku asked Sango to live with him. ‘I guess I can’t be more happy for her. They never get time to relax together.’

Shippo was cat-napping in the shade of a large rock with his hands over his ears.

Inuyasha decided that is was time for her to get her attention back on him. He squeezed her tighter and began caressing her soft skin with his large rough hands. It worked. Kagome peered up at him and smiled sexily. “Kagome,” he whispered, “are you glad to be here?”

“Yes Inuyasha. Thank you for bringing us.” She smiled at the unexpected question and attention.

“Good.” He said suddenly before bending down and kissing her soundly. She gasped at the sudden contact and opened her lips slightly. Inuyasha took the opportunity to make himself at home. He thrust his tongue inside and throughly explored her teeth, tongue, and gums.

Kagome felt weak in the knees and held him tighter, allowing him to support her weight as he kissed her senseless. Inuyasha began sucking her tongue, leaving her clinging to his neck helplessly and trembling against him. He held her with one hand as the other trailed over her back and sides.

Finally he slowed his ministrations and urged her to enter his mouth and explore.
She complied by feeling his fangs and soon was battling him for dominance. He won when his wondering hands found an especially sensitive spot on her hip and took advantage of her giggle and distraction.

After several more minutes Kagome loosened her grip from him and began rubbing his chest and shoulders. Inuyasha felt an increasing need to go beyond their current activity. He stopped the kiss slowly and held Kagome as they panted for breath.

“Kagome I need to talk to you.” She looked at him.

“I brought you here not just because I knew you would like it, but because I wanted to tell you
something in a place that made you happy.”

She studied him carefully. ‘Does he mean he is going to tell me something that isn’t going to make me happy? Or does he always want me to remember it...?’ “Go on.”

Inuyasha took a deep breath. “Kagome...I-I love you.” He watched her carefully, afraid of her reaction.

After a few seconds his words sunk in and her eyes got huge. “Inuyasha!” She squealed loudly forcing him to put his ears down. “Oh Inuyasha! I love you too!” Kagome jumped up and kissed him.

He gave her a breathtaking smile when she pulled away. “Wait Kagome. There’s more.” He gained some courage from her reaction to his confession and his next line was easier to say.

“You know Inu-youkai mate for life.” She nodded. “Kagome, I want you be my mate. Will you marry me and stay with me forever?” Inuyasha asked, hoping he didn’t sound as desperate as he thought he did.

“Yes Inuyasha...” Tears of joy started running down her cheeks as she whispered to him. “You have no idea how long I have wanted to hear those words. Gods Inuyasha I love you so much!”

Kagome felt the strong comforting arms of her future mate wrap around her and she snuggled into his chest. They stood there, waist deep in the sea, holding each other for a long time. All the months of torment and unfulfilled love quickly were forgotten in his embrace and Kagome felt as if she could die of happiness right there.

But she didn’t. Inuyasha didn’t give her the chance. After several moments of holding his beloved, Inuyasha scooped her up and carried her past the entanglement that was Miroku and Sango to the outcropping of rocks that had previously provided cover to change clothes. Now it would serve a new purpose.

Inuyasha could not express his happiness to Kagome through tears, so he decided to show her how much he loved her in other ways.....

The End
