InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ A World Apart ❯ Amber Death ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

A snow white hand shot out of the earth, clawing at the loose soil until finding a handhold in a slightly firmer place. Another hand clawed its way out of the ground to latch on next to the first. Arms straining to the point where the veins were just about popping out the arms a young woman scrabbled out of the earth and into the sunlight.
The woman was snow white with raven covered hair flowing past her shoulders. Even though she was caked with dirt you could see that she was once beautiful, but an ugly purple scar twisted half of her face into a wicked grimace. Also her eye's were ruby red, red with fury and madness that had once been contained but was now about to be released onto the family of the one who had caused her so much harm, the hanyou that had turned her down to run after an imitation, the unfaithful dog called InuYasha…

Sango sat on the flat ground in front of Kaede's hut watching as three youngsters tumbled and wrestled in the grassy fields in front of her. The oldest of the kids, a red haired kitsune or fox demon named Shippo, ran full tilt into the second oldest. A brown haired trouble maker, named Juno, only son of Miroku and Kaiya. Shippo charged into him knocking him off his feet and sending him sprawling a good five feet away.

“Shippo watcha do that for?” the sturdy little four and a half year old said, “I didn't push you or nothing,” He turned his back on the kitsune acting as if he was in charge even though Shippo was double his age.

“I'm sorry,” Shippo said going to stand by Hikaru who was watching the situation without much interest, “It's hard playing with a human isn't it,” he murmured to Hikaru who giggled loudly.

“I heard that!” Juno cried jumping back on Shippo as the wrestling match continued in the warm summer sun.

Sango couldn't help but laugh at the antics of the kids, she always felt attached to her “nieces and nephews” as Kagome said. She wondered that, if she hadn't told Miroku she had no intention of marrying at all, could she have settled down and started a family with the lecherous monk? Sango had never felt she could, the monk was a friend to her nothing more then that. Sango had to admit, the only male she felt comfortable around was her brother Kohaku. Kohaku had been released from Nuraku's control by Kagome in the end of the battle but still he could not face what had happened when he was under the dark hanyou control. Instead after Kagome's powers had healed him he had run off into the wilderness, Sango sometimes saw the flash of his amber clothes in the distance but they had not talked since, and it seemed they never would.

Sango felt a tear trickle down her cheek, in the four years after the defeat of Nuraku she had watched all her friends settle in to their own happy endings, everyone but her.
`No!' she thought shaking her head rapidly, `I will not give into self pity like some whimpering babe!' She got up from the ground and walked through the village, unshed tears burning in her eye's while she stormed angrily past the village folk.

She had almost made it to her thinking spot, a grassy knoll on the far side of the village when she bumped into a woman with her hands full of laundry. Whoomf! The laundry fell out of the woman arms to reveal Miroku's wife Kaiya.

“Oh, I'm so sorry,” Sango apologized while picking up the now soiled laundry from the ground, “Would you like me to take them to the river for you?”

“Oh no, I'll take care of it,” Kaiya smiled, inwardly knowing where Sango was going. (he it rhymes!)

Sango smiled back, `Kaiya is aptly named,' She thought while walking to her thinking spot, `She is so quick to forgive, even when her husband goes back to his lecherous ways.'

She walked to the top of her knoll and, forming the lotus position and slowing her heartbeat, began to meditate.

Kohaku ran through the forest with his now broken sickle and chain hanging limply from his shoulder as the demon behind him nimbly through the tree's. `Have to warn Sango!' His only coherent thought repeated itself again and again. `He's not dead!'

He doggedly pushed his flagging body on as the demon in the trees started to catch up. `Have to warn Sango, He's not dead!' `Have to warn Sango, He's not dead!'

He felt a prick in his back leg and reaching down pulled a dart from his leg not bothering to think about he kept running his only thought in his adrenaline fueled body bouncing around his skull. `Have to warn Sango, He's not dead!' Kohaku suddenly realized he had stopped running and was standing still. He tried to move his legs but they would not listen to him. He tried to scream but all that came out was a strangled moan. His legs buckled and he pitched forward, still alive but paralyzed and in terrible pain. His insides felt like they were spilling out onto the ground while he lay unable to move unable to scream. And something was coming down from the trees to greet him in his helpless state.

Aniko was very pleased with himself as he watched the human child sink to the forest floor. He slithered down the tree he had leapt to and flicked his tongue in and out tasting the scent of the prone human child. Satisfied that the poison had sufficiently spread through the boys body he took out a black bead from his pouch around his neck.

Seeing that the child was still awake he hissed softly, “Quiet man-child this will only hurt if you are tense.” Then he stuck the bead on the end of a pointed piece of glass and shoved into Kohaku's neck. The boy was obviously tense and the placing of the bead had hurt a lot. Aniko smiled he could smell the fear and pain scent on the child's body, to imagine all the master had to do was take the form of this boys long dead foe and the child would be scared senseless. Aniko sighed, if only the master would give him his own human but maybe if he did the job right he would his own little boy toy.

`The problem with masters plan,' Aniko said looking Kohaku over, `Is that they won't believe the poison got into him without a wound,' Aniko smiled, he would take care of that. He slowly took his blade and cut open Kohaku's shirt, taking care to make it look ragged as if it had been torn, then plunged the blade into Kohaku's chest. He smiled again, the boy probably wouldn't win but this would serve the masters purpose just as well.

Aniko wiped his blade clean on Kohaku's back and disappeared into the shadows.

A/N Hi guys if you read this story (which I highly doubt) you will notice it took me a long time to put in a new chapter. That is because I was hit by a speeding car on Sunday and it broke my right arm(I'm lucky it could have been a lot worse). This is the only time I had time to get online was right now since my parents think I should not put stress on my arm. So don't be surprised if this comes to a stand still for a while. Anyway… OMG a demon who wants to rape Kohaku! Man I am a twisted little girl! Thanks for reading please review!
