Chapter 5: moving day part 3

Before:

She stopped chugging & said, "Man, kagome that stuff tastes like vomit! & I mean that literally, it's like drinking your own puke!"

Kagome just smiled & said "yeah I know, I could make it taste like strawberries or have it keep the orange juice taste, but then you guys would be drinking yourselves silly & my miko powers would be drained from trying to keep you guys from getting alcohol poisoning"

They all looked at her in disbelief "you mean we've been drinking crap that tastes like vomit just because you don't feel like making it taste good?" Hakkaku asked, echoing everyone's thoughts

"Yup" was kagome's only reply as she started to walk away, Kouga following in tow.

Now…

Kouga & Kagome walked silently down the beach; they had been walking for so long now that both their highs had worn off…an hour…maybe two? neither knew or cared. Neither wanted to talk or knew what to say, this was the last time they'd be together like this, sure they'd talk on the phone & e-mail each other & maybe even meet up from time to time, but it would never be the same, not like this at least. Kagome thought solemnly.

"Kagome?" Kouga's voice came tumbling through a disarray of meaningless things going through Kagome's mind.

"Huh?" was all she managed to say, & even then she sounded distant.

"Sit down for a sec I need to tell you something & it'll be easier if we're not standing." She looked at him questioningly but went & sat down on a log. Kouga paced nervously for a second then came & sat down next to her.

"Kagome, you're the most amazing person I've ever met, you saved me, and I know you'll deny it to the ends of the earth but it's true."

"Kouga, I love you, you know I do…but where is this going?" Kagome asked, her eyes searching his for answers.

"I'm getting to that, Kagome, I love you, I know I've told you a million times but that doesn't make it any less true." He paused for a second & sighed, "which is why… if you're certain you won't let me mark you?" she nodded "will you marry me, Kagome Higarushi?"
