Chapter XI: Falling Apart
The morning sun glared through the metal cages as the sun rose. Violet eyes opened and closed back again as they adjusted to the light. The memories of the other day rushed to his head. The memories of rejection hit his mind hard. 'She was right I am sick.' Miroku sat up on his small bed and swung his legs over the edge. He lowered his head down unable to keep it up. Soft knocks came to his door.
"It's open." Miroku said lifting his head up expecting to see the nurse to give him his medicine. To his suprise and enjoyment it was Sango. "Sango?" Miroku said as he immediately got up. "W..what are you doing here?"
Sango shyly smiled and looked at the floor before she locked eyes with Miroku. "I'm sorry."
"What are you talking about?"
"I said, I'm sorry. I know you're here to get help and I won't abandon you. Miroku, I love you and if this your problem..." She reached for his hand and carressed it with hers. "Then we'll get through...together."
"Sango." Miroku whispered as he leaned over to place a soft kiss on her lips. "That's all I ever wanted."

Rin glided through the front door.....happy. Something she'd never thought she could feel. Sesshomaru made her feel nothing short than a lady last night. He was the perfect gentleman and this time she got to eat. Plus, enjoyed a nice conversation of politics and other things that didn't concern InuYasha. Rin couldn't help but frown even though she was in a happy mood. She wasn't that mad at InuYasha even though what he did could've possibly damaged the progress she made with her father. Still, something in heart reached out to InuYasha because deep down she knew he needed help. She walked passed the clinic's cafeteria and saw InuYasha and a couple other patients playing spades. Her eyes locked with his pools of melted gold. She wanted to look away but her eyes betrayed her and she came in hard contact with a strong chest and broad arms enveloped her petite shape. Rin opened her eye and looked up to see her knight in shining armor. "Sesshomaru." She said breathlessly.
"Good morning, Rin." He said in a low, deep tone. A tone that was soothing to her soul.
"Good morning, Dr. Sesshomaru." Rin said quietly as she bit her lip.
"Please.." Sesshomaru said before letting her go. "Call me Sesshomaru."
Rin blushed. " 'kay." She said.
"So, what are you doing for lunch. You took me to Mario's and I have a place for you."
"I brought a lunch."
"That's okay. We could go hang out in my office. Go over some files?"
She nodded her head. "That'll be great."

"Hey, man. Put out your card." Kouga yelled.
"Huh? Oh, here." InuYasha said dropping a queen in the pile making it him and Ayame's book. He don't know how, but it became a ritual of Kouga, Ayame, Miroku, and him to play spades every meal time. Even though Miroku wasn't there and had been replaced with some weird ass guy who couldn't sit still.
"Man, I'm tired of losing." Kouga sighed as he looked over to his partner. "Fuck you shaking for."
InuYasha shook his head at his "friend's" antics. Then something hit his nostrils. The sweet smell of... He looked around until his eyes set on her. 'Rin' His eyes drunk her whole and from what he saw she seemed...happy. InuYasha used every muscle not to go over there and ravish her. Then she bumped into Sesshomaru and saw something he thought he would never see in his brother...passion. A raw passion resided deep into the golden eyes of his brother and they were staring Rin down...his Rin down. She returned the look of lust and right then he knew something happened. His heart clenched with pain and agony. He dreaded the fact that they kissed or worst...had sex. He knew Rin wouldn't give it up that easily, but the way that she loved Sesshomaru anything was possible.
At the thought of them having sex struck something in InuYasha. He jumped up out of his chair and charged over to Sesshomaru and stuck him down with a tackle making everyone around gasp and scream. "Who the fuck do you think you are?" InuYasha growled just above a whisper, but he knew he didn't have to yell to get his point across.
"InuYasha?! Get off of him!" Rin screamed.
Sesshomaru put out his hand motioning Rin to stop. "I got this, Rin." He said throwing his little brother off of him before he struck a blinding blow across his jaw sending InuYasha flying across the tiled floor of the cafeteria. Everyone screamed as hanyou flew under five tables turning them over on way to the stop at the wall. Sesshomaru stalked over to his brother, looming over him. "Come on! Get the fuck up! You want to fight all of your problems, right? Then get up and fight."
InuYasha spit the blood out of his mouth before he staggered up to his feet. He lifted his fist and threw a punch towards Sesshomaru, but he blocked it.
"Is that the best you can do?" He said grabbing both sides of InuYasha head and brought it contact with his knee sending his head to jar back as blood squirted from his nose. "You want to be a bad ass, Yash? I'll show you a real bad ass."
InuYasha flew back to floor, his nose bleeding profusely. He got up and ran full force towards his brother landing a blow on Sesshomaru's jaw. Sesshomaru head flew back and spit out blood before he glared his little brother. "Good hit." He said making InuYasha smirk. "But not good enough." He said before he hit InuYasha in the stomach then send a blow to his jaw before he fell onto the floor. Rin screamed for Sesshomaru to stop as her petite form jumped on his back to get him to stop "Sesshomaru! Stop! You're killing him! You're killing him!" Rin shrieked as tears streamed down her face, but none of her rants comprehended to the youkai. Sesshomaru then grabbed the collar of InuYasha's shirt then pulled his fist back far and thrusted a blow across his face making his eyes glaze over before he completely blacked out.

InuYasha woke up to the beaping noise of the heart monitor. He quickly sat up and looked around the bright white room. His eyes then settled on the petite doctor of the narcosynthesis department. Her head gently layed down on the edge of the bed making her curly locks lay lazily around her. 'She stayed by my side this whole time?' InuYasha thought as he saw her chair pulled against the bed as she slept. He knew it was an uncomfortable sleep. 'So, she does care about me, but I don't deserve her.' He said as he gently got up and winced at the pain in his stomach. He walked over to the caged window of the room and looked out to the glumly morning sky.
"InuYasha?" Rin stirred as she opened her eyes to find him up and staring out the window.
He turned to see the wide eyes of the woman he so helplessly fell for. "Have a good sleep?"
She smiled before she yawned and got up off the chair and gently walked over to InuYasha. She looked deep into his eyes and couldn't turn away. Unspoken words and truths were exchanged with the looks they gave each other. Rin slightly lifted her hand to to touch his swollen eye. He closed his eyes and reveled in it's softness before opening them to look in her chocolate dipped orbs. "Look, Rin, about the yesterday..."
Rin placed a delicated finger on his lips. "Sssh. I know." She then carressed the side of of his bruised jaw. "I'm just glad you're okay."
"Is this what you call okay." He said pointing to his bruised face and bandaged nose.
"He could've killed you." Rin plainly said.
"Yeah, well..." InuYash said walking over to sit in the bed. "I'd rather he done that." He said dropping his head towards the floor.
"InuYasha, don't say that."
"Why not? I don't deserve to be here. It's come to a point that I don't care what happens to me anymore."
"Why would you say that? InuYasha, we're here to help you."
InuYasha snorted. "Who's here to help me?" He then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up into her eyes.
"I'm here. Always has been." She said.
A small tear escaped InuYasha's eyes before a whole river came to follow. He wrapped his hands around her as he cried into her waist. "Rin, I need help."
She bit her lip to stop a much needed cry. She had to stay strong. She had to be....for him. "I know, sweetie. I know."

Kagome sat in her office facing her tenth patient of the day. "So, Mr. Ookami. What really seems to draw you to drugs."
"Hey, I ain't a junkie for speed or anything. I just need a little...release sometimes. My wife she is just so aaah! sometimes."
"Mr. Ookami, I need something more than that. You said you loved your wife."
"Yeah, I love her, you know. I'd do anything for that girl."
"So, there has to be another reason. Addictions don't start the their own fire. Then once they're started it's something inside of you that fuels it. So,.." She said crossing her legs "What fuels you fire, Mr. Ookami?"
It became quiet enough to hear a pin drop. Kouga looked to the floor then back at Kagome. "You know..."He sighed. "You know she can't have kids. I love her too much to just find another wife."
"Is that the reason you've turned to drugs. That she can't have kids. You want kids tha bad."
"Yeah." He said in a cracked voice. "I always wanted a kid. A little bundle of me walking around. I'm the last of my family. I just don't want to die without some mark to fufill the Ookami legacy."
"There's many ways for couples like you guys. You could get a surrogate mother or..."
"No offense, doc. We've talked about that. She would kill me if my sperm went anywhere near another woman." He scoffed. "She's jealous like that."
"Well..." Kagome said before looking up to the clock. "It's two o'clock. We could talk about this tommorrow and bring Ayame because she's vital in your recovery. We'll try to convince her."
"Alright." Kouga groaned as he got up of the chaise. "Thanks, doc." He said skaing her hand before walking out of the office.
Kagome sighed once her patient left out of the office. She had an hour break until her next patient....him. She mentally groaned. He was so complicated and she didn't make any progress with him. All he did was sit and be quiet or do the complete opposite and have a tantrum and storm out. Kagome wanted to give up on him, but it was something about him that made her want to reach out to him. To make him accept and trust her. Kagome sighed getting up decided to head to the cafeteria for a cookie or something.
She walked out of the room and headed towards the dining commons to see a certain silver-haired hanyou sulking at an empty table. Lunch must have been over for at least an hour since the cafe was empty. She silently crept up to the hanyou. "InuYasha?" He slowly lifted his head up to reveal a face full of bruises, a broken nose, and a swollen eye. "Good Lord, what happened?"
"Haven't heard?" He quietly said.
"Heard what? I've been my office for the whole day."
"All I can say is so much for brotherly love. See you at three." He said as he got up and proceded out of the room before Kagome grabbed his arm.
"Do you want to talk about it now. I have a free hour."
"No offense, but you shouldn't worry your pretty little head about my problems." He said then left.
Kagome stood there stunned. What was in this boy that drawn her to him? The need to save him. She quickly shook it off before she headed to the kitchen to see if the chefs had any leftover lunch.

Rin walked silently in Sesshomaru's office who was idly waiting her arrival. Once he saw her he shot up from his seat. "Ready for lunch." He said before flashing a rare smile. He noticed the worn down look and trails of dry tears down Rin's face and he quickly was at her side in minute. "What's wrong?"
"InuYasha..."She quietly said.
"What has he done now? Do I have to handle him again?" He said before rolling his sleeves up.
"No!" She screamed. "Don't you realize anything?!"
Sesshomaru shook his head in confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"You beat your little brother to a pulp today." She sighed to catch her shaky breath. "Have you seen his face? It looks like he got hit by a bus."
"Well..."He said sticking his hands far into his suit jacket. "Serves him, right? He needs to learn what a real fight on the streets could be."
"What real fight? You're his older brother. His only brother....he needs help."
Sesshomaru waved her plea dismissively. "Oh, don't give me that sympathy, bullshit. We both know what InuYasha is capable of. He's not some helpless puppy. He tried to rape you, Rin."
Tears streamed down her face for a second time that day. "I know, but there's something in me that won't let me hate for him for it." She sucked in her last tear. "I believe he didn't mean to."
He threw his hands in the air. "Are we there again?!"
"What?" She said.
"Are we where we left off? I thought we left this pipe dream alone. He's a junkie! You can't believe anything he does. He's unpredictable. He can play to be some helpless little baby then turn around and be your worst nightmare."
"Why can't you believe in him?! He's your brother!" Rin cried.
"Oh, come off it, Rin. I put my belief in him a long time ago. Like I put my belief and so many other people and like them, he betrayed me. I am not a fool. It's completely insane to do the same things and believe that you're getting different result. Insanity! Look it up." Sesshomaru said turning around and headed for his desk.
"Maybe I am insane. I loved the same man who broke me down and. Yet, I held on. I held on to the fact the maybe...maybe he'll love me back, but I know he won't. The fact of him not loving me cracks my heart, but I can't let him go because that would break my heart completely. So, if that makes me insane, so be it.
"Well, that's what you get for falling for a junkie, Rin."
Rin sighed. "I was talking about you." She said plainly before she opened the door and left the office.
Sesshomaru eyes widened thinking he heard her wrong, but before he could get clarity she gone. He sighed.

"Yeah, they have broken at least five regulation codes." Bankotsu said talking on his small cell phone. "I know I need some more evidence, but it's in the bag. They're getting shut down."
