Chapter 16 To resign

Sesshoumaru stopped the attack he was just about to bestow upon Naraku , and watched in mild wonder how Kagome simply shot a wave of purple light towards Kagura, making her instantly fly back for at least twenty feet.

Then he saw it. The purple in her once cerulean eyes. He saw the colors clash in her eyes, but then the violet took over. He felt her rage

and instantly he knew.

Flying away he barely missed the lilac light which shot out making Naraku hit at least ten trees in his way of flight.

,,You will die for this, little miko!" Naraku yelled out, not expecting to be knocked out the next second the threat left his lips by Sesshoumaru.

Looking back at Kagome he was at her side the next instant, but something kept him back, something inside his own mind didn't allow him to . . . touch her.

,,You betrayed me." It wasn't an accusation, a question, nor a statement it was more of a fact.

,,No." He growled out. He couldn't help it; it angered him to know she didn't trust him.

,,I have no need for your power . . . I want you."

Although what she did next, surprised him.

She smiled. A sweet but sad smile, which made her eyes go back to azure.

He silently wondered what made her smile sad but brushed it off the moment he felt her arms encircling him.

She needed this. Needed him.

She felt his arms draw her near, felt his heartbeat steady her. She needed this , needed it just for a while longer.

And so did he.

,,They're waking." Sesshoumaru's whisper interrupted her.

,,I'm not leaving." She whispered back, knowing he was going to ask her to leave.

,,So we're fighting together?" he asked her with a small smile playing on his lips.

,,Aren't we always?" she smiled back.

,,Miko!" Naraku roared, slowly trying to stand.

In a flash he was beside her and Sesshoumaru just like Kagura, who previously got up as well.

,,I can hear you just fine Naraku." Kagome responded sweetly, all too sweetly.

,,You will die bitch! "Naraku lashed out at her, but he was instantly stopped by Sesshoumaru, who this time only regarded him with ice like looks.

,,Kagura I am giving you the chance to leave, do so and you will leave." Kagome told her opponent her eyes going back to a lightning violet.

Upon hearing Kagura's death threat in return Kagome attacked her, not understanding where the battle knowledge as well as the power came from but welcoming it.

Damn this! The miko and Sesshoumaru were not supposed to win! He and Kagura were slowly losing, but he would have none of that!

Kagome had just kicked Kagura, when she was suddenly yanked away by none other than Sesshoumaru.

,,What's wrong?" she asked him noting something close to fear on his face. He didn't look at her though, he looked at the horizon, and then back at her.

Looking back at her, not knowing how to tell her to just leave because of the thousands of demons nearing them. But then he saw it again the sweet but all too sad smile adorning her lips.

Now he couldn't place it, but he longed to see her smile freely like she had in his garden.

He needed to transform to fight all of them, and red seeped into his eyes at the possibility of scaring her with that.

She knew, knew what he wished to do with that look, but yet she placed a charm on him, refusing to let him move.

She stood, walked ahead, her eyes skimming over the thousands of demons before her. They all came near, like a wave of black and purple fire, craving nothing more but her blood.

She saw Kagura join them, but lay it aside, extending her hand with her opened palm.

,,Leave now." Her command echoed through the forest, deep within each of her pursuers but they continued their way, making her sigh in absolution.

,,Then you die."

And with that flashing purple lights enveloped the demons throwing them back with it's purity, scaring them with the roars of thunder which came clashing down from the clouded sky.

The red in his eyes gained control as he saw how she fell to the ground her body numb from all the power which she had lost. . .

Then he saw it, saw Naraku beside her body, his claws ready for a deadly strike …

… her eyes were the only ones still open as she saw him, the deadly gleam in his eyes, the reflection of lethal light on his claws, the fatal smirk plastered on his face, all ready to strike…

but then she saw silver, the expression of malice gone, leaving only one of pain and shock, of utter disbelief ... .

And then her eyes finally closed, only seeing the faint smile of her . . . one love.
