3: Visions

Sesshomaru bolted up in bed. Even with his youkai powers, he still couldn't plug up his memories of his stepmother and place them on the dustiest shelf in the back of his mind. Every night, he would dream about that horrible day and remember how much he was lied to. Then, he'd finally fall back asleep with a peaceful dream, but tonight would be different. His eyes closed and he was brought back into a dream world.

Sesshomaru stood in a field of flowers watching a youkai and a human. "Who are you?" he ordered. The two continued to giggle and play. The male youkai had long black hair with green tips and sparkling green eyes. On his forehead was a green star and there was one red stripe on each of his cheeks. Although there were many differences between the two, the male youkai looked strangely like him. The woman had long black hair also, but she had large, bright blue eyes. Her scent was vaguely familiar. It reminded him of Inuyasha's wench's scent. `They must not be able to see me.' Sesshomaru thought. Suddenly, the youkai knelt down before the woman. "Midoriko, will you be my mate? I love you and I cannot live without you by my side." The woman was slightly taken aback, but with love shining in her eyes, she said "Sachimaru, of course I would."

Then, everything became a blur and a new scene appeared. "Midoriko, you cannot marry a demon! You are a miko!" an old man roared. His hair was grey with age, but his eyes were blue like the woman's. "Father, I love him." the woman cried. "Well, give that love to someone else." The man stormed out of the hut and the woman slid to the floor crying. "Sachimaru, I am so sorry." she whispered.

All was blurry again as a new scene appeared. They were once again in the field of flowers, but this time Midoriko was with a human man. "Midoriko, marry me. I can make you happy." the man said, running his hands through his greasy brown hair. "Gisino, I will marry you, but I could never love you the way I love Sachimaru." The mortal woman was still upset over her youkai love. The man left happily. "Sachimaru, I cannot love you. I am a miko." she whispered to the wind.

Midoriko stood in her traditional wedding kimono with a fake smile on her face. Gisino took her hand and the priest was about to join them as a family when the Great Demon appeared. "Midoriko, I will kill you…" it hissed.

Sachimaru slumped down on the cold, hard ground with the wedding invitation in his hand. "I loved you, Midoriko. Why did you do this to me?" He grabbed his sword, Shinga, and his pain disappeared as his blood pooled beneath his dead body.

Midoriko was dying. Using the last of her power, she took the soul of the Great Demon and a part of her soul and formed a crystallized soul to battle the Great Demon in. The other part of her soul, though, was going elsewhere.

There were two scenes before Sesshomaru. On the left, was a handsome youkai with a sword plunged deep into his heart. On the right was a beautiful woman, her dead body mummified with that of the Great Demon's. A glowing white soul came out of the demon. Sesshomaru followed it and was led to his castle. The soul flew into the room of the previous Lady of the Western Lands and entered the Lady of the Western Lands' stomach. The lady was his mother. His mother was speaking to one of her servants. "I shall name him Sesshomaru or her Sachiki." she decided.

Sesshomaru was brought to a strange hut full of humans. He saw another soul fly in the window and he looked in. There was a woman holding a baby girl in her arms. The girl had tufts of black hair and blue eyes. "Kagome, be good and eat, okay?" the mother cooed. The baby girl giggled. `Kagome. Isn't that the name of Inuyasha's wench?'

Fate clapped her hands with joy. "See, Destiny, I told you I could fix everything! Now they'll definitely be together!!!"

Sesshomaru's eyes fluttered open as the sunlight shone through the window. `What did that dream mean? Is that `Kagome' the reincarnation of the one who broke my heart in the past life?' he thought. Now, he hated love and humans even more. Love is a weakness. He would never love Midoriko or her reincarnation again, this life or the next.

"Oh, yeah, great going, sis." Destiny said rolling her eyes. "See, I told you he was too stubborn!" "Hey, Life Oka-san said that we were supposed to get the souls together again, so you have to help, too!" "It's not that easy." Destiny said.
