14: Don't Kill Her

Kagome `oomphed' when she felt something, or someone, land on her stomach. Her eyes fluttered open and she saw a little girl with short black hair in a yellow kimono on her bed. "Good morning, Rin-chan. How are you?" Rin grinned. "Rin is good. Rin wanted to see Kagome-chan. Does Kagome-chan want to come to the gardens with Rin after breakfast?" Kagome agreed to go to the gardens. Rin pointed to a tray next to Kagome's bed. Kagome ate the food and changed into a kimono, knowing that Rin was extremely eager to pick flowers or do something of the sort. Her shoulder was still numb as she followed Rin outside to the gardens. Rin leapt in the fields and picked a huge bouquet of dandelions and began working on a crown of flowers for herself.

Kagome sat and watched Rin work on the dandelions, when she looked up with worry written all over her face. "Kagome-chan, Sesshomaru-sama said that you got your shoulder hurt. Can you tell Rin-chan how?" Honestly, Kagome had no idea what to say to Rin. She didn't want to lie to her, but she didn't want to tell her that it was her hero and father-figure that had caused the wound on her shoulder. Not wanting to break the little girl's heart, she said "I was running into Lord Sesshomaru's study and I crashed into a shelf because I wasn't paying attention. That's why you should never run in the castle." Rin's worry began to fade away at Kagome's words. "Does Kagome-chan's shoulder hurt?" Kagome shook her head. "No, it feels like it's not even there." Rin returned to her work and Kagome walked around the garden.

The garden was a huge field of flowers. In the center was a crystal fountain. The fountain was enormous with an aquamarine inu-youkai in its true form. The inu-youkai had a sapphire crescent moon on its forehead and water shot from in between its jaws and into the fountain. A small golden plate underneath the fountain read `House of the Moon'. Under those words were many names, including Sesshomaru's. One name that was not there, though, was Inuyasha's. `I wonder why…' Kagome thought. It did not look as if a name had been removed. It was simply as if Inuyasha's name had never been engraved on the golden plate.

Kagome diverted her attention from the fountain and noticed that the garden was nearly surrounded by dense forests that were most likely full of youkai. Kagome looked back to make sure that Rin was safe…but she was no longer there. Kagome ran around the garden frantically in search of any sign of Rin. `Please don't be--- .' Kagome's thoughts were interrupted when a shrill scream came from somewhere in the forest. She ran as quickly as possible and saw what she never wanted to see in her life. Rin was running away from a bear-youkai that was about the size of Goshinki. Rin was coming closer and closer to her, but the youkai was too fast for the young girl. Kagome used her own body to shield Rin from the youkai.

She felt a furry, clawed paw lifting her up and she was soon face to face with the drooling bear-youkai. She closed her eyes and the youkai began tightening his grip around her, and she felt the pain from her wound again. "Don't hurt Kagome-chan!" she heard Rin scream. Kagome opened her eyes to see the youkai's second paw heading straight for Rin. She no longer felt the pain in her shoulder, all she felt was fear…and anger. "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!" she screamed. A red light came from her body and she fell to the ground unconscious.

Sesshomaru slashed the enemy that was only visible to his eyes with Tokijin as the sweat on his chest gleamed in the sunlight. Suddenly, his eyes widened and he ran from the dojo after putting on his armor and the top half of his clothing. `What was that sudden burst of power?' He had sensed the power from a part of the forest surrounding one of the many gardens. He ran through the doors with demonic speed and soon found himself in the forest. Rin was sobbing next to Kagome. Kagome looked pale and was currently unconscious. Sesshomaru lifted the unconscious woman into his arms, carefully to avoid hurting her with the deadly spikes. He inhaled her scent and headed towards the castle with Rin trailing behind him, still crying. `Her scent…it smells like lavender and strawberries.'

Sesshomaru sat with Rin in his study. He had finally comforted her enough so that she would stop crying. "Rin, what happened?" he asked in a fatherly tone. "Rin asked Kagome-chan how she got hurt. Kagome-chan told Rin. Then, Kagome-chan walked around the garden. Rin-chan saw a pretty butterfly and followed it into the forest. A big monster was chasing Rin and Rin saw Kagome-chan so Rin ran to Kagome-chan. Kagome-chan protected Rin from the monster and the monster picked up Kagome-chan and squeezed her and Rin told monster to stop. Monster tried to grab Rin-chan, but then red light came from Kagome-chan and the monster turned into ashes and Kagome-chan fell down." the little girl said in a single breath. Sesshomaru tensed at the mention of how Kagome got hurt. "How did Kagome say she got hurt?" "Kagome-chan was running into Sesshomaru-sama's study and wasn't looking so she crashed into a shelf." `She did not tell Rin that I hurt her. Why didn't she?'

Kagome's head was throbbing as she opened her eyes to see Safumaru placing another wet cloth upon her forehead. "Ah, you are awake…" "What happened?" Kagome asked, trying to sit up. "Don't move yet. Lord Sesshomaru says that you purified a demon. The power that you used and the wound in your shoulder must have made you unconscious. You were already weakened from the previous injury." "Where is Rin? Is she alright?" "Yes, Rin is currently with Lord Sesshomaru." "I guess I didn't see you under better circumstances… My, I do need to stop getting hurt." Kagome joked. "Well, you should get some sleep. I am sure that your head is hurting." Safumaru said with a smile. Kagome closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

"It's okay, Kikyo. I'll get it back from that bastard! I swear to it!" Inuyasha growled. "Thank you so much! I thought that you'd be mad at me!" "It's alright, Kikyo. Don't cry, it's not your fault that he took it. I just can't stand the fact that he still wants you…" Kikyo dried her eyes and hugged Inuyasha. "I won't let him lay a finger on me." Kikyo said. Inuyasha smiled down at her. "Inuyasha, Naraku is far too powerful with the jewel…" "I can beat that bastard any day!" "Inuyasha, we should take over Sesshomaru's castle and get other people to find and kill Naraku…" "Why?" "I don't want you to get hurt by Naraku… The Shikon jewel makes him too powerful. You can have others battle him first to weaken him, then it will be easier for you." "I am powerful. I can defeat him." "Inuyasha, I can't let you get hurt." Sighing, Inuyasha agreed to his mate's request. "Now, Inuyasha, we must think of a plan."

Sesshomaru tossed around on his bed cursing the sleep that would not overtake him. It felt as if…as if something was missing. It couldn't be…it couldn't…could it? Sesshomaru sat up and walked over to the door and exited it. Soon, he was in front of one of the various guest rooms. He opened the door and took in the scent of Kagome for a few minutes before returning to his room and falling asleep instantly.

Miroku bowed before the Kami. "Miroku, why have you come?" Miroku got on his knees and began to plead. "Is there any way to remove that horrible armor without them knowing?!"

Please review. I am on my knees! I have no reviews so far! (Well, at least not on this site…) Anyways, review!
