Chapter 14~Friend or Foe!

~~~After the fight with Inuyasha Kagome had stormed off into the forest. Not wanting to leave her alone cause there was dangers out in the woods, Inuyasha followed. He also admitted that they needed to talk. The tension between them kept getting stronger and that was not the way he wanted things to be with him and his mate. He loved her, he wanted her, and he would do anything for her, but he was just to damn scared of telling her how he really felt, without knowing how she felt first. Either way he needed to make up with her or at least break some of this tension, although having mated with her not but a few minutes ago had really helped HIS tension, he thought grinning smugly. He heard her ahead of him and picked up his pace.

~~~Kagome heard Inuyasha coming, and she knew it was him cause she could sense him. How she was not all to clear on, but she figured it had to do with thier mating and the claims they had on one another. She was still angry, but not because they had made love, but because she wasnt sure if it WAS love. Was she now just a convieniant fuck for Inuyasha?? Did he love her or did he just like the fact that since they were mated he could have her anytime he wished? She wished she knew, she loved him soo much that it hurt to know that they were bound together for life, but what sort of life would it be if the one she loved and was binded to didnt love her back? What if he did resent her for shackling him to her forever?? And taking her how he wanted and when he wanted was her punishment? Not that she hadnt liked it, in fact she had wanted it soo badly and had loved every second of their joining.

"Leave me alone Inuyasha!" she said angerly when he finally jumped in front of her and landed a few feet from her. He frowned and looked down at her.

"What the fuck is wrong with you now bitch?" he snarled. Kagome wanted to slap him again, how could he call her that.

"Sit!" she said and Inuyasha kissed dirt.

"What the fuck was that for?!" he yelled gruffly from his prone position.

"Stop calling me a Bitch!" she yelled at him, crossing her arms over her chest angerly.

"But you are a bitch.." he stated and saw her cast a deadly glare at him.

"What?? Come on Kagome...Im half dog demon, and we call our females bitches, its not a bad thing, its just what they are, there no disrespect meant by the word." he explained.

"In my time it means something much more diffrent and it isnt nice...." she snapped then thought of something.

"If you call your females bitches and it means nothing bad, then why have you been calling me that like forever??...we were not even mated then when you started calling me that." she asked with a suspicious glare, thinking that it was really a bad thing after all, that he was just lying to her. Because Ive known you were always meant to be MY bitch Kagome. Inuyasha thought, but didnt say it.

"As I said..its what we call our females..and since day one and I took up protecting you, you became a part of my pact..." he replied, knowing that sounded as lame as hell but shit what was he supposed to say??

"What the hell does Bitch mean in your time?" he added, trying to change the damn subject. He saw Kagome blush and was even more curious.

"Umm..well...its a cuss word" she stuttered.

"and what does it mean?" he asked again.

"It means that the girl is loose..that she likes to sleep around with many men."

"At the same time??" Inuyasha aked in shock. OOOH HELL NOOOO. he thought. Not his Kagome. No one touched her but him.

"No silly...well not most of the time,but basicly its a word used to hurt and degrade a woman." she said with another blush.

"Kagome I can see why the word would bother you, but you gotta know I dont think of you like that..to me it has a totally diffrent meaning." he stated as he inched towards her and hugged her tentively, affraid she'd sit him or shrugg him off, he wasnt sure if he could take the rejection of his mate. He sighed when she leaned into him and sighed with contentment.

"I know Inuyasha..Ive always known...its just...things have gotten soo complicated after we...we..you know...mated?" she said nervously, keeping her back to his chest, not looking his way and keeping her face from his stare. She was affraid of what she might see.

"About that Kagome...I.." Inuyasha began, but was cut off when he felt Kagome stiffen in his arms and in a few seconds he smelled what she had felt. Kouga.

~~~Kouga had smelled Kagome and Inuyasha. Odd he thought. When ever he had smelt Kagome before his heart would race and his loins would ache. He had thought of her as his woman, but he didnt now. Right now she was someone he knew and needed help from. What happened to the love I had for her he thought? Its the damn mark of my mate. He growled. Since he had mated with Kagura no other females seemed to attract him, not that they ever had since hed met Kagome, but now not even she held any attraction to him, other than friendship and help. He just hoped they would help him now. All those times hed fought with Inuyasha hadnt exactly indeared dog breath to him. But he really prayed to all the Gods that Inuyasha would set that aside and help him. He came to the place where he had smelt Kagome and Inuyasha and stopped in a whirlwing of dust. He looked at Inuyasha who stood in front of Kagome protectively, as usual, Kouga thought, but he could understand why he did so now. After all Kouga had tried to rape Kagome, which he still regretted with a vengence, he never wanted to hurt Kagome. But even without that Kouga could smell it. Inuyasha had finally claimed Kagome as his mate, and she had claimed him as hers, of course hed be protective of her. He would of been.

"What the fuck do you want Wolf!" Inuyasha growled menancingly. Kagome peeked from behind Inuyasha. Kouga could see that she was wary of him, he didnt blame her since the last time shed seen him hed kidnapped her and tried to force himself on her, but she should know he wouldnt have consciencly tried to hurt her like that.

"I need your help Inuyasha." Kouga replied straight foward. The look on Kagomes face changed and she came around Inuyasha, who growled at her to stay back, but she ignored him.

"Whats wrong Kouga? How can we help?" Kagome asked with true concern, seeing the pain in Kougas eyes. Kouga sighed with relief, this was the Kagome he knew and had loved. She was a caring soul and would do anything to help a friend. he sure hoped dog turd would treasure her for the precious jewel she was.

"Kagome are you nuts?? get your ass back here!" Inuyasha yelled at her, as Kagome went to Kouga's side. When she reached his side, something seemed to snap and he collapsed against her. he was soo tired. he hadnt slept or rested or eaten in days.

"Kouga?? Kouga??..Inuyasha come help me." Kagome said with a tone that told Inuyasha that if he didnt help her, he would live to regret it. Didnt she know that it was hard to see her with Kouga? The damn wolf had kidnapped her twice, had claimed that she was HIS woman and had tried to rape her, as her mate, he should be killing him right now, not helping him. But Inuyasha had to admit, Kouga didnt look the least bit intrested in Kagome, and he had never seen the wolf look soo...whipped before.

~~~Inuyasha took Kouga from Kagome and threw him over his shoulder and began to walk towards the spring. he figured Kouga could use some water. Kouga grunted with protest at the position he found himself in, but at the moment, he was just too tired to give a damn. All that searching and worry had finally taken its toll on him. He had no strength to protest. He was put, none to gently on the bank of the spring, but alot gentler than he had expected from dog boy. He watched as Kagome walked over to the spring, taking the funny tie thing she wore around the collar of her uniform, then dip it in the spring and bought it back to him, wiping the cool rag over his heated and tired face. To his surprise Inuyasha bought back a hollowed out branch with a bottom to it filled with water, which he greedily drank down.

"Whats happened Kouga?? Whats wrong?" Kagome asked with concern. He looked at her with such love, but not the sort he once felt for her, but with the love of someone who had just seen his personal gaurdian angel. Inuyasha growled low, a warning which Kouga acknowledged and looked away.

"I need your help Kagome, actually Inuyasha too, and the monks and demon exterminators if possible as well." Kouga replied.

"Whats happened?? has someting happened to your tribe??" Kagome asked fearfully. Kouga let out a hysterical sort of laugh, that had Kagome and Inuyasha looking at him oddly, and with much concern.

"I dont even know...I havent seen my pack in about 5 days.." Kouga replied with another burst of manic laughter. he was loosing it, he knew it, but things were soo strange, what was he supposed to to.

"Yo Wolf?..Stop that your fucking freaking me out here." Inuyasha replied with concern as he went to Kagome's side to be near her in case Kouga had gone rabid and tried to hurt her. This only made Kouga laugh more till he was on his side laughing like a mad man. After awhile he realized he wasnt laughing anymore but crying. Kagome was at his side again holding his head in her laps, this time Inuyasha didnt growl at him, he was too concerned over the wolf prince.

"Something terrible has happened hasnt it Kouga?" Kagome stated, as she stroked his head in a soothing mannor, more like a mother would with her pup than anything else.

"You have no idea...and im soo scared Kagome..I dont know what to do...you guys are my last hope." Kouga replied in a tired sad whisper that broke Kagome's heart, tears started to spill from her eyes in sympathy.

"So get your ass up and tell us what you need to so we can figure out a plan and get to it Wolf boy." Inuyasha replied in his usual charm. Kouga looked up at him.

"You would help me, even not knowing what it is yet? Even after all ive done and said to you Inuyasha?" Kouga asked a bit surprised, he had hoped he would help but had not really dared to believe he would.

"Feh!...if it turns ya back to normal I will...the way you are now is just to fuckin creepy...Id rather have your old arrogant ass back to normal, and if helping you does that then lets get to it." Inuyasha replied with a snort as he stuck his hands in his Kimono sleeves and turned his face from them. In Inuyasha language, it was the same as saying Duh! Did you think I wouldnt? Im not that cold, and your sort of like a friend..one i want to strangle when you touch Kagome, but one none the less.

"Who you calling creepy dog turd!" Kouga shouted back, a spark of his old self shining threw.

"You You wimpy ass wolf!" Inuyasha replied with a smirk as Kouga got to his feet and the two faced off like always. Kagome sighed. Well that didnt take long. She smiled. Loving Inuyasha even more for what hed done, in his own way he had snapped Kouga back to normal.

"Oh cut it out you two, let get back to camp and wake the others..if we're going to need their help I think Kouga need to tell us whats happened with them present, no sense in repeating it twice." she said as she got up, brushed her bottom of dirt and debris and headed back toward the camp. She could hear them calling each other names and growling at each other as they followed, but they werent touching or trying to kill one another. Kagome smiled, maybe they would become good friends someday.
