Chapter 1: Intro to Kagome's Life

*Ring,Ring*

An eight-teen year old girl with long raven hair ran out of her bathroom to pick up the phone. On the way she tripped over a book that was lying on the floor, and she fell down with a thump. Picking herself up, she cursed under her breath before picking up the phone.

“Mushi, mushi,” answered the girl with a grouchy voice.

“Hey Kagome, did you trip over something again?” asked a girl on the other line.

“Wow Sango, you're scary with that sometimes,” Kagome said while shaking her head.

“Yeah well that's what I do. Anyway, what do you feel like today? Driving or walking?” laughed Sango.

“Um……well it looks nice out right now. It seems like a perfect day to walk,” smiled Kagome.

“I was thinking the same thing, just wanted to make sure. So I'll call Sara, and see you at the usual spot?” asked Sango.(The character Sara in this story is based on a really good friend of mine. ^_^)

“You bet. See ya in a few,” answered Kagome, before hanging up the phone.

Kagome ran into her closet and threw on a light blue tank top with a darker blue jacket over it, and a same colored sweat pants with the word “Baller,” on the backside in white. She then went to her bathroom and put her hair up in two French-braids before walking downstairs with her yellow backpack.

Once she reached the downstairs she threw her backpack near the front door and walked into the kitchen. Her twelve-year-old brother was sitting at the table, pigging out on blueberry pancakes. Kagome's mom was at the sink, washing dishes. Walking by her brother she laughed, “God Souta, don't choke yourself now.”

“Very funny Kagome,” he answered with sarcasm before returning to his food.

Kagome walked over to her mother, kissed her on the cheek, and started to head towards the door.

“Hold on a second Kagome,” her mom said.

“Yes?” asked Kagome.

Mrs. Higurashi turned to her daughter and asked with a smile, “Don't you want some breakfast?”

“Nope, I woke up early and ate,” answered Kagome. She thought for a second and then added, “You're coming to the game, right.”

“Oh sorry Kags, Souta has a doctors appointment,” her mother sighed.

“Opps forgot about that. Ok then, see you around five o'clock,” Kagome waved goodbye, grabbed her backpack, and walked out the door.

Kagome walked past a sacred tree that resided in her front yard. She stopped and said a quick prayer before heading down the driveway. While she was walking down the street her cell phone rang. Kagome took it out of her pocket, and checked who it was before answering.

“What's up Sango?” she asked.

“I just thought I should warn you that Sara had you-know-what for breakfast,” Sango answered.

“Are you sure? How many times have we told her not to eat that stuff in the morning?” sighed Kagome.

“I've lost count, but you have to admit she makes us laugh when she's like this,” giggled Sango.

“You're right. So I'll be there in a minute, are you guys waiting for me?” Kagome asked.

“Nope, I'm on my way too,” said Sango.

“Ok, see ya,” smiled Kagome before ending the conversation.

A minute later Kagome entered Shikon Park, and waited on a swing sat for her friends to show up. Then out of nowhere someone tackled her to the ground while singing, “Kagome,” over and over again.

While rubbing her head, Kagome looked up at the person who had tackled her. She found a tall, strawberry blonde hair girl with a huge grin on her face. The girl was wearing a green sweatshirt that said, “Happiness is Hershey's Chocolate,” and black jeans. Her hair was long and curled at the ends.

“Hey Sara. Do you think you could make a less LOUD entrance next time,” whined Kagome.

“Um…..nope. Guess what I had for breakfast,” smiled Sara as she jumped up and down.

“I'm going to take a wild guess here and say chocolate or some form of sugar,” answered Kagome.

Sara stared at Kagome with wide eyes and gasped,” How'd you know?!?! I think you're turning into Sango.”

“How many times have we told you not to eat that stuff for breakfast?” sighed Kagome.

“Ninety-seven times,” Sara laughed as she started to jump around.

“Don't even bother Kagome. We've tried this like a hundred times already,” came a voice from behind the two teenagers.

They both turned around to find Sango standing before them. She was wearing a light pink shirt with a jean jacket over it, blue jeans, and her hair was up in a ponytail with a pink ribbon tied in it.

“Oh my God, it's Sango!!! I haven't seen you in like a year,” cried Sara as she leapt forward and bear hugged Sango.

“Um…..you saw me yesterday,” said Sango while she anime sweat dropped.

“Don't worry Sango, it's the sugar talking……..I hope,” laughed Kagome.

“Well, let's get going. Don't want to be late,” said Sango once she pride Sara off her.

“Oh, fine,” pouted Sara as she dragged her feet in the direction of their high school.

When they reached the school they still had ten minutes until their first classes so they decided to go hang out with some other friends. As Kagome walked down the halls of No Tama High she spotted a girl with brown hair, and wearing all black sitting against the wall, reading a book. (I know, I know. Shikon Park being right by No Tama High…..I'm lame ^_^;;) Kagome smiled and walked over to her.

“Hi Yumi,” Kagome said to the girl as she sat down next to her.

“Hey Kagome,” smiled the girl named Yumi.

“So, you ready for that math test today?” asked Kagome.

“Yeah right. I stayed up until twelve last night studying and I still don't understand half the stuff,” whined Yumi.

“I think you'll do fine,” laughed Kagome.

“Thanks. So, how do you think the game will got today?” smiled Yumi.

“I'm hoping we win, but you never know what's going to happen,” Kagome said.

“Of course we'll win. I mean we have on the team,” winked Yumi.

“Hahaha thanks. Well I've got to go. See you in class,” Kagome got up and waved goodbye while walking down the hall.

Kagome searched for Sara and Sango until she saw them talking to a boy named Kuro. He was a fire demon with red eyes and hair. Kagome walked up to them right when Kuro was leaving.

“Let's go to our lockers, the bell will ring soon,” sighed Sango.

“I think we should just skip school today. Come on guys, we could get away with it,” suggested Sara.

“You know we can't,” warned Kagome as they walked down the hall. Well Sara was skipping.

“Oh, you're no fun,” pouted Sara.

Sango just rolled her eyes, and then her gauze landed on a girl a little ways away. A smile appeared on all three of the girls' faces as they ran to the girl, who was wearing a yellow short-sleeve shirt, and a light orange skirt.

“Rinny, Rin, Rin,” sang Sara as she leapt into Rin's arms.

“Um….hey Sara,” Rin choked out.

“Don't worry Rin, she just had sugar this morning,” laughed Sango.

“Well, I'm guessing she's in her beginning stages then because she normally gets way more crazy,” grinned Rin.

“So, how's your man,” asked Kagome with a wink.

“Kagome you ask that like once a week, and besides you saw him just a few days ago,” sighed Rin.

“I know but I just love asking,” smiled Kagome.

“Well he is fine. Oh, he is wondering if you guys are coming tonight,” said Rin.

“Of course!!!!!
Think about who you're talking to,” answered Sango.

“Hey I just deliver the messages, and besides I have no idea what he'd do without his best singers. You see Shippo isn't going to be there tonight,” sighed Rin.

“More like, best singer. Me and Sango can't compete with Kagome when it comes to singing,” laughed Sara.

“Don't say that!!! You guys are way better then me,” blushed Kagome.

“Anyway, I THINK Rin's point is that Mr. `I'm Too Busy To Call The Girls Myself,' would be lost without us showing up at the club,” said Sango.

“Yep, sounds about right,” laughed Rin.

*School Bell Rings*

“See ya people, time for class,” sighed Sara as she walked to her first class.

“We'll meet at lunch,” Kagome shouted so Sara could hear, and then left.

Lunch Time

“Damn it, that test was harder then I thought,” mumbled Kagome as she sat down at a lunch table. “Oh well, I think I did alright.”

She started to look around for Sango, Rin, and Sara who hadn't shown up yet. Kagome finally saw Rin coming towards her and sat down.

“That test was really hard,” whined Rin.

“Yeah, I know. I just hope we did ok,” sighed Kagome.

“Where are Sango and Sara?” asked Rin.

“You know, I was just wondering that. I bet they're on their way,” said Kagome.

Just then the doors of the cafeteria swung open and Sara walked in with Sango behind her. Sara was dragging her feet and looked like it was taking all her energy to walk. AS they neared the table where Rin and Kagome were at, Rin asked in a concerned voice, “Sara are you ok?”

“No…..more sugar……in system……….I…….can't…..go on,” whispered Sara and the she fell to the floor with a thud.

“Sara?!? Oh no,” cried Sango as she rushed to her fallen friend.

“Please speak to me,” Sango begged.

Kagome just rolled her eyes while Rin started at them in disbelief. (So she pretty much looked like this……..O_O)

“Come on people I need sugar, chocolate, anything ASAP!!!!!” ordered Sango to the on lookers.

Everyone started to panic, trying to find some sugar. People started running into each other, which made Kagome have to hold in her laugh. Finally someone ran up to Sango with five pieces of milk chocolate.

“Thank you, you just saved her life. We are forever in your debt,” cried Sango.

“No, that's ok. I just hope she is ok,” said the boy.

Sango pushed some chocolate into Sara's mouth and made her swallow. A second later Sara opened her eyes and gasped for air. Kagome walked over to Sara and Sango and helped pick Sara off the ground.

They slowly walked to the doors of the cafeteria while Rin followed close behind. When they reached the outside and made sure no one was around everyone, except Rin, busted out laughing. Rin just started at them like they had gone nuts. A minute later she gasped and playfully hit Sara and said, “You guys always get me.”

“Well, I'm guessing the Drama classes are paying off,” laughed Kagome.

“Oh my God, did you see all their faces?” giggled Sango.

“I wish I had, it's hard being the one that always has to faint……but at least I got what I wanted,” said Sara with a greedy look on her face as she started to chow down on the chocolate.

“Don't you think you've had enough for one day Sara,” asked Rin.

“What…..are you talking about…….you can NEVER have enough sugary goodness,” said Sara in between gulps of the chocolate.

“You should have seen her during Science class Kagome,” informed Rin.

“Oh, I know! We were taking notes and then this picture of a squirrel came up. And when she saw it she started spazing out. Talking about how someday they're going to take over the world. She was begging people to not let them take her away,” laughed Sango. (That's an inside joke between me and Sara, well not really a joke because they WILL take over the world.)

“Don't even get me started on that again Sango,” warned Sara and then she added, “I swear those things look all cute and furry, but they're evil on the insides.”

“And then in Drama she was dancing like no one was looking. She was scaring Yumi, but when Houjo said something about it Sara almost attacked him,” sighed Sango.

“Well I can see that one happening, Houjo can be a little dumb sometimes,” sighed Kagome.

“Especially when he's around a certain girl he has a crush on,” winked Rin as she elbowed Kagome.

“I don't know why he likes me, but I just see him as a friend,” whined Kagome.

“And Kouga acts WAY TOO charming when he's around, it's almost sick,” gagged Sara.

“Come on, you have to give them their props, they're just trying to be nice,” said Sango.

As they were talking about Houjo and Kouga, Sara looked over Kagome's shoulder to find none other then Kouga and Houjo walking towards them.

“Speak of the Devil,” sighed Sara.

“What?....Oh hey guys,” smiled Rin, Sango, and Kagome.

“Hey ladies,” coed Kouga as they approached.

Both Houjo and Kouga walked up to the girls and put their arms around Kagome. Houjou's arm around her waist and Kouga's around her shoulder. Kagome got a little uncomfortable but didn't move. Kouga and Houjo glared at each other for a second before looking back at the girls. Sara just stood there glaring at them both until she realized the nervous look on Kagome's face.

“Um….Kagome, I need to talk to you for a second……..over there,” Sara grabbed Kagome from the boys clutches and ran her a good thirty feet away.

“Thanks,” whispered Kagome because she knew Kouga could probably hear them with his demon ears.

“Welcome,” smiled Sara.

They looked back over at the group to see Sango and Rin giving them a look that said, “Oh thanks for leaving us with them,” which made Kagome laugh.

“Ok well I think we need to go rescue them,” giggled Sara.

“Yeah ok,” sighed Kagome as they slowly made their way back over to the group.

When they reached the other Rin and Sango let out a long sigh of relief. Kouga endged closer to Kagome and winked, “So Kagome how's you say going to the movies with me after your basketball game tonight?”

“Oh mean, sorry I can't Kouga. I've made plans already,” Kagome said in a sympathetic voice. `At least I don't have to lie this time,” Kagome sighed to herself.

“That's ok, maybe next time,” smiled Kouga. (houjo is standing by the others with steam coming out his ears.)

“Well, well, well. Look what we have here,” came an ugly voice from behind the whole gang.

Thay all turned to see Kikyo, Ayame, and Kanna standing in font of them. Kagome let out another sigh, `I was hoping not to have to deal with this today,' she thought to herself.

“What do you guys want?” asked Sango angrily.

“Gosh, can't we just say hi,” said Kanna in a quiet voice.

“No you can't just say hi, and WOW I'm surprised that you even said something,” snapped Sara.

“Temper, temper Sara,” glared Kikyo.

“I'll show you temper,” growled Sara as she started to run forward, only to be stopped by Rin.

“Sara calm down,” Rin whispered.

Sara took a few deep breaths before calming down and just glared at the girls in front of her. Ayame looked over and saw Kouga standing close to Kagome.

“Get away from my man Higurashi,” hissed Ayame.

“I'm not your man Ayame, get over it,” sighed Kouga.

Ayame was just about to say something when the bell rang. She just glared at them and then Kikyo, Kanna, and her walked away.

“Well, I guess you could say we were saved by the bell,” Houjo sighed in relief.

“You're such a coward Houjo, let's just go to class,” laughed Kouga.

As Kouga and Houjo hurried to class Kagome looked over at the others.

“You know Houjo was right for once, if the bell hadn't rung Sara would have killer those three,” giggled Kagome.

“Damn straight they'd be dead. I swear one of these days someone will run them over and I'll just laugh,” Sara growled.

“Well see you guys after school, we're staying to watch Kagome play right?” asked Rin.

“Yeah, see ya,” smiled Sango as they all walked to they're next classes.
