Chapter One: Heartbreak
Author's note: Okay everyone, this is my first Inu Yasha fic! It's an alternate universe fic. What if Kagome and Inu Yasha broke up and Kagome started having feelings for Hojo? What if Inu Yasha met someone new and fell in love with them? And what if Sesshoumaru fell in love? I know that I suck at summaries ^_^; R & R and please don't flame.
Disclaimer: I don't own Inu Yasha or any of its characters. I own Charity Silvers and Zair White belongs to Zair White. Neither one will be used without direct permission.
"What?" cried Inu Yasha as he looked at Kagome with a hurt and shocked expression on his face, "Why do you want to end it?"
Kagome sighed as she looked away from Inu Yasha, a firm look on her face. "I'm sorry," she whispered, "I just don't feel the same love for you that I used to. I know that this all must be hard for you..."
Inu Yasha's ears drooped a bit as he turned away from Kagome. "So that's it?" he questioned, "It's been fun, but now I'd like to move on to others. First I lose Kikyo, and now I lose you too? Why?"
Kagome turned back around. "We weren't really together to begin with," she said softly as she felt her resolve breaking, "It was just a silly little crush..." She was cut off when Inu Yasha whirled around and grabbed her shoulders.
"A silly little crush?" he questioned, his eyes blazing with emotion, "Kagome, I loved you and I still do!"
Kagome shook her head and smiled sadly. "I meant for me," she stated.
Inu Yasha dropped his gaze down to the ground. "Fine," he whispered as he felt his anger rising, "Just leave."
Kagome opened her mouth to say something, but then shut it. She stood without saying a word and began to walk off. She looked back and noticed that tears started falling down his cheek. "Goodbye," she said in tones barely above a whisper before finally walking off.

Three weeks later...
"Hey!" cried a girl with long golden blond hair and firey blue eyes as she chased around a girl with long dark brown hair and dark prussion blue eyes. They both looked to be the age of sixteen. "Give me back my scrunchie, Zair!" she cried.
The girl named Zair smiled mischieviously at her friend and dangled the blue hair scrunchie just within reach. "Come and get it, Charity," she said with a smile on her face.
Charity got a preditory smile on her face as she leapt at Zair, but she missed and caught nothing but air. "Damn!" she cursed as she fell face first into the dirt. She quickly sat up and dusted herself off, then glared up at her friend.
Zair smiled innocently down at Charity. "You're getting faster," she commented, "If you'd timed your pounce just a bit more accurately, you would have been able to successfully snatch your scrunchie back."
Charity smiled at the compiment, but knew better than to let it go to her head. She stood and slowly began to walk towards Zair, hoping to catch her off guard. However, she wasn't that lucky.
Zair, realizing Charity's intentions, quickly jumped out of the way and the chase began once more. She ran all the way up to a hill, but was shocked at her friend's next move.
Charity pounced once more, but instead of just hitting the ground, she began to roll downhill! "Aw man!" she cried, "This sucks!"
Zair quickly turned around and watched Charity continue to roll down the hill. "Shit," she cursed under her breath.

"Hey!" cried an angry male's voice, "Why don't you watch where you're going?!"
Charity quickly sat up and came face-to-face with a very angry looking young man with long black hair and wild dark eyes. "I'm sorry!" she quickly sputtered as she tried desperately to pick herself up off the ground.
The man sighed and his face softened a bit as he helped Charity up off the ground. "It's alright," he stated.
Charity looked at him and smiled. "Thanks," she said softly as she tucked a few strands off her hair back behind her ear, then held out a hand, "My name's Charity, what's yours?"
The man blushed a bit as he shook her hand. "Inu Yasha," he replied, "So, why exactly were you rolling down the hill?"
Charity opened her mouth to answer, but stopped when she heard Zair's voice calling.
Inu Yasha looked in the direction that Charity was looking in and gasped when he saw Zair. "Who...is that?" he asked out loud.
Charity giggled a bit. "She's my best friend," she answered, "Her name is Zair."
Inu Yasha simply continued to stare at Zair as she walked over to where Charity was standing. ~She reminds me of...,~ his train of thought trailed off as he remembered how much the one he loved had hurt him.
Zair smiled politely and extended her hand to Inu Yasha. "Hello," she said softly.
Inu Yasha shook Zair's hand and smiled at her. "The name's Inu Yasha," he stated as his smile turned into somewhat of a smirk.
Zair quirked an eyebrow at Inu Yasha and then turned to Charity with an expectant look on her face. "You ready to go back home?" she questioned.
Charity noticed the look on Zair's face and simply nodded. "It was nice meeting you, Inu Yasha," she said as she began to follow her friend, "Maybe we'll meet again some day."
Inu Yasha sighed as he watched the two girls go. "Yes," he agreed to himself, "We WILL meet again. Only next time, you might meet the other side of me..."

Kagome sighed miserably as she sat down on a bench, tears threatening to spill down her cheek. "I can't believe that I was so cruel to him," she scolded herself, the memory of the hurt look on Inu Yasha's face still fresh, "I know that all of what I said was the truth, but I shouldn't have broke it to him like that..." She was interrupted when she felt a gentle hand on her shoulder. She quickly whirled around and came face-to-face with Hojo.
Hojo sat down beside Kagome with a look of concern. "What's the matter?" he asked.
Kagome faked a smile and quickly wiped away the remainder of her tears. "Nothing," she lied. She hated lying to her friend, but she didn't want to burden him with her problem.
Hojo gave Kagome the I-know-you're-lying-to-me look. "Does it have something to do with Inu Yasha?"
Kagome couldn't hold the tears in any longer and began to sob as she explained everything that had occured three weeks before. "I was so cruel to him," she said between sobs.
Hojo pulled Kagome's trembling body into his arms and held her until she stopped shivering. "It's alright," he reassured her, "It was probably better that you broke it to him the way you did. He's pretty stubborn, after all." It was no secret that he had a crush on her and was willing to do almost anything for her.
Kagome sighed and pulled away from Hojo, noticing the longing look in his eyes. "Thanks, Hojo," she stated softly as she began to stand, "I've got to go..."
~Okay, it's now or never,~ Hojo thought to himself before pulling Kagome into a deep and passionate kiss.
Kagome fought for a few seconds, but soon wrapped her arms around his neck and began to melt into Hojo's embrace. A single tear made its way down her cheek. ~Why do I feel this way?~ she wondered to herself, ~Is it possible that...I'm falling for Hojo?~
Well, that's about it for the first chapter. What do you guys think? I know that it sucks, but I will try to make the second chapter better.
